| Lilina Mirin was born on the Miraluka adopted homeworld of Alpheridies to a wealthy family. From a young age, she stood out even among Miraluka as one powerful in the Force, especially with healing. Aged five, her family were involved in a speeder crash returning home. Shards of glass cut across her mother's stomach, causing extreme blood loss and condemning her to certain death had Lilina not instinctively used the Force to keep her alive until professional medical care arrived. She made a full recovery, and her family truly began to realise her potential. | Aline was responsible for Lilina learning to use a double-bladed lightsaber, an unusual weapon for a devout follower of the light. Aline was inspired herself by the martial artists of ages gone by, who could create an impenetrable defence with just a long stick, using either end for defence, and adapted this to lightsaber combat, building on the Soresu lightsaber form. Lilina built her first lightsaber when she turned 18, in [[21 ABY]], a simple double-bladed hilt with no decorations or adornments, seeing vanity as unbecoming of a Jedi, and a solid blue blade. In her philosophy training, as she matured, Aline began to teach her about the Dark Side, on the basis that although they should never use it, they should understand how the Light and Dark exist together. | | Aline was responsible for Lilina learning to use a double-bladed lightsaber, an unusual weapon for a devout follower of the light. | However, as she began to develop as a Jedi and spent more time doing her own thing according to the Jedi Code, protecting the weak and helpless, and saving lives, she failed to notice the gradual change within her master. Aline was becoming more and more fascinated with the more esoteric aspects of the Force, and had discovered a Sith Holocron teaching an ancient Dark Side healing art. She believed herself strong enough to resist the darkness and use its powers for good, but the holocron corrupted her. | | However, as she began to develop as a Jedi and spent more time doing her own thing according to the Jedi Code, protecting the weak and helpless, and saving lives, she failed to notice the gradual change within her master. | Lilina realised the extent of how far Aline had fallen when she began collecting subjects to work on, exploring the intricacies of the barrier between life and death. In [[28 ABY]], Aline told Lilina that she believed she could transfer the life essence of the evil to preserve the lives of the ailing good. Aline vehemently rejected Lilina's suggestion she was falling closer to darkness, and lashed out against her student. While Lilina was unable to defeat her master using the defensive form, she was able to survive long enough to escape and seek out a new master. | | Lilina realised the extent of how far Aline had fallen when she began collecting subjects to work on, exploring the intricacies of the barrier between life and death. Character History
Early Life
Lilina Mirin was born in 3 ABY on the Miraluka adopted homeworld of Alpheridies to a wealthy family. Lilina, however, grew fascinated with the professional medical care that took over.
Unfortunately, this was 8 ABY. The Purge had destroyed the Jedi Order a generation ago, and her family's attempts to contact the legendary Luke Skywalker were unsuccessful. Using their wealth and connections, they were able to locate a Jedi Knight who survived the purge. Aline Sarva was a perfect fit. She survived the Jedi Purge by the luck of being offworld at the time, running errands for her master, but her specialism as a Jedi was the arts of healing. After the Purge, she joined the rebel alliance as a medic, where she used the Force to supplement her genuine medical skill.
Jedi Training
Aline was an excellent teacher for the young Lilina, who was given to her to be trained full time from when she was five. She was patient and kind, and supported Lilina's dreams of becoming a doctor as well as a Jedi. Her lessons consisted of four main categories: philosophy, in which Lilina was taught about the Living Force and how it binds all life together, Force powers, focusing primarily on healing, traditional medical care, particularly treating grievous injury, and when she became older, lightsaber combat.
Lilina built her first lightsaber when she turned 18, in 21 ABY, a simple double-bladed hilt with no decorations or adornments, seeing vanity as unbecoming of a Jedi, and a solid blue blade. In her philosophy training, as she matured, Aline began to teach her about the Dark Side, on the basis that although they should never use it, they should understand how the Light and Dark exist together.
Lilina realised the extent of how far Aline had fallen when she began collecting subjects to work on, exploring the intricacies of the barrier between life and death. In 28 ABY, Aline told Lilina that she believed she could transfer the life essence of the evil to preserve the lives of the ailing good. Aline vehemently rejected Lilina's suggestion she was falling closer to darkness, and lashed out against her student. While Lilina was unable to defeat her master using the defensive form, she was able to survive long enough to escape and seek out a new master.
Clan Taldryan
Following Lilina's master's fall to the Dark Side, Lilina attempted to contact Luke Skywalker once more to further her training. However, concurrently with Aline's fall, Luke Skywalker's student Ben Solo had razed his new Jedi Temple and slaughtered all of Luke's other students. Contact attempts were unsuccessful, and Lilina began to explore other options while wandering the galaxy alone, meditating on the Force. In 33 ABY, she made contact with an organisation known as Clan Taldryan, a mix of Light, Grey and Dark side Force users.
Despite being a devout follower of the Light, Lilina worshipped the Force in all its forms, light and dark, and saw the appeal in the balance of Clan Taldryan, Light and Dark working together rather than in conflict. Following an initial assessment into her skills, she joined Clan Taldryan at the Equite rank of Peacekeeper. She was well-befitting of the title, and found her skills to be of significant use in Clan Taldryan.
In combat, her talent for energising her comrades through battle meditation and impenetrable double-bladed lightsaber defence made her useful on the front lines, and her unique skills combining a doctor and a healer helped her limit Taldryan and civilian casualties, although her instinct to save enemy lives, as well as allies, would often put her at odds with her commanders. Outside of war, she helped to raise the profile of the clan among the civilians within its territory by healing the sick and spreading positive messages.
In 35 ABY, Lilina fought in the Twelfth Great Jedi War against The Collective. The Force was sacred to Lilina, and the Collective were against all that she held dear, cementing her belief that Taldryan was the correct place to be. She fought the Collective on Nancora, and in the 37 ABY Thirteenth Great Jedi War, helped to forge a fragile alliance with the Severian Principate. Lilina was promoted after each war, reaching the Equite 3 rank of Vanguard
Gundark Squad
In 38 ABY, while working for Taldryan's Community Outreach, having established a positive reputation among Chyron's civilians as a mystical healer that could do no harm. However, the Collective learned of her, and operating from a secret location in Chyron's Dark Sector, took her prisoner alongside many other Taldryan supporters from the civilian populace. While the prisoners were beaten and starved, Lilina used her power to keep them alive and healthy.
When General Zentru'la of Clan Scholae Palatinae and ex-Collective cyborg infiltrator Masakado arrived to free Lilina, he observed most of the prisoners should have died three times over. He was engaging in a personal vendetta against The Collective, and needed a skilled healer on his team, as Masakado was dying of a neurological degenerative disease caused by Collective tampering. Lilina could sense that Zentru'la's allegiance to the Dark Side oriented Clan was fading, and joined his crew, seeing this as a good way to fight against the Collective, and healing Masakado's Collective-created sickness as another victory over them.
She joined Zentru'la's crew, but they were soon ambushed by Taldryan forces that mistook them for the Collective. Lilina protected her new allies with a force barrier, and they escaped to the blacksmith Bale Andros. After eventually participating in a raid on Sentinel Station on Taldryan's behalf, Zentru'la was discharged from the Imperial Scholae Army. Lilina helped him to negotiate a deal with Erinyes, the Consul of Taldryan, where she would fund the establishment of a mercenary army, on the condition that they do not take contracts against Taldryan or its allies. Zentru'la accepted this offer, forming the Vornskr Battalion, and Zentru'la's personal crew officially became designated Gundark Squad.
