A popular expansion upon the Corellian Engineering Corp CR-90 Corvette, the Corellian Gunship fills the role of Capital Ship combat much more effectively than its predecessors. Armed to the teeth, it is effective in starfighter deterrence, while expanding its potential to defend against larger and more heavily armed vessels. Though originally designed for the Galactic Republic, the effectiveness of this vessel saw its service expand into the Empire. Still a popular choice for Smugglers and underworld business syndicates, the Corellian Gunship continues to show off its stellar design and effectiveness in combat.
History
Acquisition
After the reclamation of the Antei system, all of the Clans of the Dark Brotherhood were given an allowance as a show of gratitude for showing their faith to the Grandmaster. Purchased through the Brotherhood’s many contacts within the corporate world, Dauntless was purchased alongside 3 other Corellian Gunships. The sister ships have been adapted to defend Warspite and Indomitable.
Service to the Palpatines
It spent most of its time as an escort for the other vessels in its Line, the Excidium II and the Conqueror.
Commanders
Commanding Officer
Upon purchase of the GSP Dauntless, Grif Deral was appointed the Commanding Officer. A Human born on Niran in 21 BBY, Deral was a veteran of the Galactic Civil War, serving as a Chief Petty Officer. Following the Empire’s defeat at the Battle of Endor, he continued to serve until 5 ABY.
After leaving the remnant of the Imperial fleet, Deral traveled the hyperspace lanes as a freighter pilot finding transport work wherever he could. In 19 ABY, Grif found his way to Judecca where he discovered Clan Scholae Palatinae, a sect in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. The Dark Jedi sensed his potential and he was drafted into the fleet. Rising through the ranks, he was eventually made Commanding Officer of the Dauntless.
Executive Officer
By order of CO Grif Deral, and upon approval of Emperor Thran Occasus and Grand Marshal Angelo Dante, Vornap Ty’Ril was appointed as the Executive of Officer of the GSP Dauntless. A Human born in 2 ABY and a native to Judecca, Ty’Ril was drafted into Scholae Palatinae’s Navy at a relatively young age. By the age of 27, Ty’Ril was a Chief Gunner aboard the Repulse. Highly praised by his superiors, his recommendations for Executive Officer of one of the Clan’s newest fleet purchases came thick and fast. In 26 ABY, he was assigned to the GSP Dauntless under the direct command of Grif Deral.
Deployment
The ship was assigned to First Flotilla, along with the Excidium II, the Relentless and the Dagger.
