" And so, The Paladins of Palpatine came into being. Few had fought galantly. Even fewer survived. For most, the war had ended. For the fearless heroes of the Sun, Sword, and Dragon, the real conflict had only just begun...”"
― Unknown

The title of Dark Paladin is awarded Quarterly to the most prominent member of CSP outside of a summit role.

The Dark Paladins

The Paladins fall under the direct command of the Consul. Created in the third year of Cotelin, at the dawn of the Seventh Great Jedi War, their purpose was to uphold the Clan ethos and stand as a shining example of what an active member should strive to represent unto the Clan. Through them, the Clan Summit would encourage additional activity and discipline -- creating a series of role models that were very public not only within the Clan, but also to the other Clans watching from the distance. Additionally, it served as a way to reward the members in a manner that was both professional and beneficial to all included. For while the duties of such a member were increased, it was with reason.

As the crushing Fist of Palpatine, the Dark Paladin personified the terrors of Sith Lord. Always the first to war, The Paladin would hold high the banner of the Clan, drawing the troops onward. So too, in times of peace this tenacious Member worked undyingly for the Clan. To display this, the Member was given a set of privileges to help them help the clan.

Rights and Responsibilities

The Paladin of new is awarded a status equivalent to that of an Aedile. This is meant for means of communication (encouraging activity), responsibility (monitoring IRC and Message Boards) and mentorship (training new and old members alike).

All Paladins are granted access to restricted sections of the Clan Headquarters that are normally reserved for the Clan Summit alone (minus the personal quarters of the Clan Envoy, Proconsul, and Consul). This privilege is granted for access into the Paladin’s Chambers and the additional security needed to safeguard the Lords of Scholae Palatinae.

Additionally, to the in-Clan chambers, they are granted the option of constructing their own castle, which they may claim as their own. This can be used for recreational, living or training purposes - in many ways it resembles the Praetorian Guard’s barrack just outside of Rome. Only Paladins are admitted into this complex, unless someone has a personal invite.

Penultimate rites are confined to ship selection. In times of war or peace, these warriors are allowed to choose their weapon of war. At any time they may commandeer a vessel in the name of the Consul. This privilege may only be enforced during times of war or in the event of aggressive action.

Finally, the final honor of a Dark Paladin is the award of an extremely fine weapon crafted in the mines that pocket Judecca’s surface in the North. The grandest of weapon smiths is given a block of steel and instructed to build a weapon worthy of a great warrior. They labor in their forges for many days, pouring their will into the metal, crafting its’ edges to perfection and decorating it ornately before the day it is presented to the wielder.

The Paladins are also granted the free reign to build upon their existence in the form of crusades, additional details, ranks and dynamics approved by the Clan Leader. It is the hope that this Elite Fraternity will develop into something that is self-productive and ultimately becomes the standard within Scholae Palatinae’s way of life. There also stands the chance that, at a later date, a High Paladin may be named to continue generating additional material and emphasis on the benefits of attaining such a rank. Until then, it is the mission of the First Paladin to accept responsibility for his newly minted position as those join him at a later date.
