Axios is an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer serving as the flagship of Clan Taldryan.
Vessel Info
A symbol of the Galactic Empire and the Tarkin Doctrine, the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer is a powerful warship that can go toe-to-toe with the most powerful vessels in the galaxy and stand a chance of victory. At sixteen-hundred meters long, its hull design is covered in extremely thick armour plating while backed by heavy shielding, allowing it to withstand concentrated fire from enemy energy weapons. It can then return punishment in kind in the form of one hundred turbolasers along with twenty heavy ion cannons. Even with this heavy tonnage, the Imperial II is remarkably fast despite lacking some maneuverability, giving it a noted edge in direct pursuits and retreats.
Like all Star Destroyers, the Imperial II can work in support of planetary assaults and invasion efforts. Capable of transporting nine-thousand-seven-hundred troops with supporting vehicles, its cargo capacity of 36,000 metric tons allows it to ferry entire legions of troops at once. The warship itself requires thirty-six-thousand-seven-hundred-and-thirty-five crewmen to operate the Star Destroyer at full effectiveness. This does not include the six squadrons of starfighters it can support and field in battle, giving a much-needed ability to counter starfighter attack runs and combat smaller warships.
The Axios has undergone a number of unique modifications to its clan, most notably a distinctive colour scheme. Nicknamed the Taldryan Dazzle, this stems from painting the hull matte black and utilising a series of coloured lines to divide and highlight certain areas. A more practical modification has come in the form of an additional turbolaser battery that has been enhanced by kyber crystals.
History
The Axios was brought into the service of Clan Taldryan following the Fourteenth Great Jedi War, and named in commemoration of Vodo Biask Taldrya, former Consul of Taldryan.
Meaning of the Name
Before his death in 38ABY, as the forces of Clan Taldryan flew into combat in defense of Mattock Station and the Severian Principate's delegates there, Vodo Biask Taldrya broadcast a message to inspire the members and troops of the Clan.
- " Today we head to battle—not for the first time, but also not for the last time. I expect every one of you to do your utmost, to do your duty. Duty to the Clan above all else.; We are a brotherhood within a Brotherhood. I am reminded of an ancient general of the Sith Empire. Bethus Julius Korbulo was amongst the Emperor’s most loyal warriors but one day he ran afoul of his Lord. Ordered to take his own life he is recorded to have said, ‘Axios!’. I am worthy. "

Vodo's legacy of dedication and sacrifice on behalf of his Clan was demonstrated in his final act when he destroyed a Collective super weapon that would have launched deadly chemical agents into the city of Eos and the Iron Legion's Headquarters. The destruction of the super weapon claimed his life but members of Clan Taldryan with sensitivity of the Force reported hearing his last word: Axios.
