Maya Nikeisha is the eldest daughter of the Nikeisha family and is currently running for Mayor of Kel Rasha.
Biography
Early Life
Maya was born in early 6 BBY, the first of seven daughters, on Aeotheran in Seng Karash. Early in life Maya had a rough upbringing. Her father, Diego, and mother, Catherine, struggled to make ends meet but by the time the third daughter arrived in late 2 BBY, the family had begun to prosper. Although Diego had wanted a son, it was very clear that he loved all his children with equal affection. Their seventh and final daughter was born in 10 ABY.
Schooling
Maya was educated in politics and Diego ensured she had the best education available throughout her learning years. It quickly became apparent that Maya Nikeisha was a talented and gifted young individual, having won many debates during her High School years. She rose in popularity amongst her peers and upon graduation secured a job in political office in Seng Karash at the age of eighteen.
Unbeknownst to her parents Maya had also been taking secret singing lessons from a long forgotten talented singer during her childhood. He mentored her free of charge, repeatedly reassuring Maya that he enjoyed listening to her voice as it reminded him of someone he had lost a long time ago. Maya continued to develop her vocal skills and eventually took to the streets, dressing in beggars clothes and performing there in order to make money whilst keeping her true identity a secret. Her earnings were then sent to the poor and less wealthy families in Seng Karash.
Political career in Seng Karash
The city felt like home to Maya, but the constant invasions and destruction of her city throughout her childhood left much to be wanted. During her career as a politician she had influenced the Dlarit Corporation to better protect the city with more modernized defenses. Eventually the corporation agreed to her demands, as she had come to learn what the corporation really was. A front for the Dark Jedi of Naga Sadow. In exchange for her secrecy they helped protect the city, and she steadily gained more influence with the help of the Corporation in exchange for keeping the populace satisfied.
Kel Rasha
The Nikeisha family settled in Kel Rasha around 31 ABY when the city began its construction. As one of the first families to settle in Kel Rasha, the Nikeisha family quickly gained influence throughout the City by performing more political favors. The reason for their move was to start afresh and give the youngest daughters a chance to create their own destiny.
The Road to Power
The Nikeisha family had grown into an influential powerhouse, as each of the seven children had specilaized in a different career. Security detail, trading, information broker, artist and politics where the main trades of the daughters. Each used their own trade in order to better the family and create a small empire in Kel Rasha as it began to expand and grow. Everyone in the city knows the Nikeisha family. Some think of them as a warm and kind family, whilst others whisper that there are mysterious forces helping the family hold the city in their grip.
On special occasions Maya would bring her singing talents to use, and entertained the guests at parties or gatherings. This further increased her popularity among the elite.
The Death of a Father
In late 33 ABY Diego Nikeisha was charged with the smuggling of cortosis, highly illegal in Dark Brotherhood Territory, and sentenced to death. This crime explained how he had made ends meet shortly after the birth of his third daughter in 2 BBY and their continued wealth after. His execution was to be made public, branded a traitor and become a disgrace to the Nikeisha family. It is rumored that Diego was betrayed by rival politicians, in order to hurt Maya who had become a very popular, influential and successful individual in Kel Rasha.
It was this same daughter who pleaded with the Sadowan Dark Jedi, and after months of debating she eventually was able to keep the execution from going public, burying the reasons and preserving the family name. In turn, the Nikeisha family would continue to keep their identity secret and keep the populace loyal.
Diego was then executed on the fringes of Naga Sadow territory in early 34 ABY, the Covenant carrying the Quaestor of House Shar Dakhan at that time, Darkblade, to witness the execution alongside the seven daughters and remaining parent of the Nikeisha family.
Continued Loyalty

Upon returning to Kel Rasha in 34 ABY, Maya announced her father had passed away in his sleep, and that the family had taken him to his ancestral home on Coruscant to bury him in his family crypts. This served as an excuse to explain her long absence when she was bargaining with the Sadowan Dark Jedi.
The family was greeted with much sympathy and as the first Mayoral elections round the corner in late 34 ABY, Maya announced she would be running for Mayor of Kel Rasha. This was met with great enthusiasm by the general populace, as well as most of the elite. She had many supporters whom rallied behind her and believed Maya to be the best candidate as their Mayor. She was often referred to as the "Voice of the People". This quickly became her slogan and was used often by supporting members during rallies and speeches.
