Kraken Regiment
History
The Kraken Regiment has its' roots in the Regiment formally known as the Acclivis Draco Defense Regiment. As such, it has officially taken on their unit lineage as their own, adding their own honorable actions to the battle streamers already won.
Sixth Great Jedi War
The original Legions of the Regiment were officially activated by Former Emperor Dakari during the events of the Sixth Great Jedi War. The move was meant to help counter the Clan's sudden spiral into the sixth, and final, placing amongst the Clans. With the, then Grand Marshall, Braecen Kaeth's assistance, Dakari was able to organize his military force into a fast moving, easy to deploy unit that helped the ailing Clan surge from oblivion into an honorable fourth overall finish.
In the events of the war, the soldiers of the 507th (Bahamut) Legion were a crucial element in the defense of the Red Faction's stand at the unmarked outpost of Scholae Palatinae in the far reaches of the Cocytus System. The 507th Legion was primarily responsible for the designated firing zone 'Whiskey' or FZ011. Tasked with engaging the vaunted forces of Clan Taldryan, they succeeded in holding the allied forces defense line and thwarting the enemy forces. By grasping an elusive victory for Scholae Palatinae, they allowed the Royal Clan to secure their position in their battle from Taldryan.
At the conclusion of the war the troopers were then assigned to the Kraken Regiment, previously known as the Acclivis Draco Defense Regiment, and assigned to answer specifically to the Grand Marshal. As such, they are directly under the command of the Clan and no longer answerable to Acclivis Draco, forming one of the line Regiments of the Clan.
The Yuuzhan Vong Disaster
The Regiment was largely surprised by the sudden and very rapid Yuuzhan Vong assault on Antenora. Although they bravely tried to execute a set piece battle against them, they were simply overwhelmed by the sheer ferocity of the attack. They finally realized that they would not win a conventional battle, and the Regiment finally withdrew to the Heimdall Mountain Range on the Li Gandor Continent. There, it fought a brutal battle, where it often came down to savage hand-to-hand battle with the Yuuzhan Vong invaders. They were able to push back the Yuuzhan Vong, and with reinforcements they were able to mount an offensive campaign that crushed the remaining Yuuzhan Vong forces on Antenora.
Operation: Reclamation
With the removal of Emperor Bracen Kaeth, the new Emperor Phoenix Olkyssagh Palpatine declared his intention of driving out the rest of the Yuuzhan Vong from the rest of the system. Borrowing elements from the 42nd, 43rd, and the largely decimated 44th Legions, they helped to create a secure drop zone on Caina that allowed other Clan forces to take the fight back to the Yuuzhan Vong. Elements of the 41st were also moved to Judecca, where they assaulted and removed all Yuuzhan Vong threats from the Temple of Rakata, storehouse of many priceless artifacts belonging to House Acclivis Draco. Once these combat actions were complete, they returned to Antenora to rebuild.
Battle of Jusadih
An after-action review by the leaders of the Clan military was done once the Yuuzhan Vong were eliminated, and the Clan military leaders realized that by under-equipping the military with older gear, some of it dating back to the Clone Wars, they were only setting themselves up for failure. Along with the acquisition of a brand new and modern fleet, the Army of Scholae were similarly brought back up with state-of-the art weapons and equipment. Training replacements for casualties was well underway when Emperor Phoenix Palpatine received a request for help from the deposed Emperor Bracen Kaeth. He had somehow managed to take the reigns of power of Clan Plagueis, and their Clan needed military assistance to help overthrow the Yuuzhan Vong that were still in control of their home in the Jusadih System. Emperor Phoenix Palpatine agreed, and the Regiment was mobilized.
Upon arrival to the Jusadih System, they were met by a Yuuzhan Vong force. The transports of the Regiment fought their way down to Kapsina, where they encircled the remaining Yuuzhan Vong forces on the planet. Tra'an Reith and his XO Libra Tzo led the Regiment into battle with half of the Order of the Dragon Battle Team to rescue Cethgus Incendia Zor-El. The final battle of the conflict on Jusadih left Tra'an Reith severely wounded after he single handedly brought down a Vong Warmaster, while Cethgus and his wife Kara kept the Elite Cadre busy.
After the battle, there were a few tense moments facing the forces of Clan Plagueis during which there were accusations of betrayal and dishonor. After it was revealed that Arcona had falsely deceived the clans into believing themselves enemies, the Regiment boarded their transports and departed.
Training
As a line regiment, Kraken is expected to be one of the first of regiments to go into any offensive action. As such, they practice deployment procedures, assault techniques, and campaign logistics planning. The two main Legions, the 43rd and 44th, are both in constant training to perform any forced entry missions, the 43rd especially. The 41st extensively trains with vertical assault operations, including drops from orbit to make pinpoint landings on their targets.
Recent additional training has been added to enable the Regiment to function as Auxiliary Marines in fleet actions, pursuant to the almost use of such during the Uneasy Alliances Conflict. Tra'an Reith felt that his men were not adequately trained to function in such conditions and wanted them to be ready if the need ever arose again.
