Astaroth is moon of Iblis, a gas giant under the dominion of Scholae Palatinae, residing in the Cocytus System.
History
Astaroth is a moon orbiting Iblis that is completely devoid of any type of atmosphere, and therefore cannot support complex life. However, it is believed that the planet of once inhabitable, because there were numerous bio-dome complexes discovered dotting the surface when the moon was fully explored. In these complexes were strange plant and animal life, but there were no administrators. They are now run by Scholae Palatinae scientists and other officials. They have formed two hypotheses about the origin of these bio-domes: that the planet was one habitable and were formed by the native species when the moon started to turn inhospitable, or that these species were rooted here by another unknown space-faring species, in an attempt to terraform the moon to support life. A few funds from the research department are being diverted to look into atmosphere producing technology, but is regarded by most involved as a lost cause.
Various kinds of flora are grown on Astaroth, within the complexes of course, like trees and flowers, but, more importantly, foodstuffs. The domes have a fully functioning ecosystem, making it a superb place to farm. These plantations are mainly operated by droids, and a few engineers to oversee their maintenance. One thing is interesting about the moon is a spaceport, and enclosed highways connecting all the domes to each other and the spaceport, which allows the moving and shipping of foodstuffs to anywhere it’s needed. The moon’s major imports are seeds for farming, and various kinds of technology for scientific reasons. The main export is, you guessed it, food. Since very little interesting things of note happen here, it is typically considered a punishment for arrogant journeymen who pissed off the wrong person to be stationed here to watch over their respective domes.
Physical Geography
Planetary
The surface of Astaroth is one big, dry continent. Astaroth’s surface is barren and has nothing but small mountains, and plateau’s for miles in any given direction at any given location.
Points of Interest
Bio-Dome Hub Site Alpha
Bio-Dome Hub Site Alpha is easily the biggest complex on Astaroth. It is also one of the only two to have a monitoring uplink to all the other, smaller bio-dome all across the moon. Alpha is also home to the biggest laboratory of botany on the surface, housing almost 1,800 different species of flora. Alpha is also home to the main entertainment area of the moon. It is called the ‘ring’ because the area is a circular road that goes around the outside of the dome.
Bio-Dome Hub Site Beta
Bio-Dome Hub Site Beta is the other of the two hubs on Astaroth. It the second biggest of domes and is the leader of scientific research into the origins of these bio-domes and other projects like farming and animal care. If someone goes to Beta for ‘fun’, for lack of a better word, it is to visit the various museums of the animal life they study there. Beta also has two farms in it, and is the key supplier of food to its sister hub, Alpha.
Outlook
Political
Governor: Bol Garadisom
Commander of the Garrison: Captain Kaladinra Mas
Astaroth has little political influence in the Royal House, as it is mainly a research and farm world.
Military
Being a pretty big contributor of food, Astaroth is protected by a company from the 11th Legion. Astaroth has no ‘real’ military presence in the galaxy outside of this orbital bodyguard.
Commerce
