Lailoken is a Guardian in Clan Scholae Palatinae. He has spent his entire time in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood in Scholae and prior to entering the he was a Mandalorian gun (or sword) for hire. Lailoken is scornful of those who don't hold his respect, though it is said he can be nearly friendly to those he does respect. Indifferent to most that goes on around him he is a man of few words.
Character History
Early Life
Lailoken was born to an upper middle class family on Corellia. His father was a perfectionistic programmer and his mother a comfort-loving physician. Lailoken's born name is Nicholas, though he was more commonly called Nick by those who knew him. He also had a sister three years his junior.
At a relatively young age Lailoken started training in the 'ancient and outdated' form of sword fighting. He trained unarmed, with a dagger, one handed sword and two handed sword. Lailoken also attended regular school studies with slightly above average marks. Despite this his passion was clearly for sword fighting and computers. This lead to him collecting weapons of various kinds and spending long periods of time on his computer, both of which his father did not approve of.
From early on in his life there was friction among his family. Lailoken did not get along with his father constantly getting into fights with him. The two were opposites almost black and white. Nor did he like his sister very much, finding her naive, weak and holding against her disrespect for their mother. His father and mother did not get along, their disagreements increasing in frequency n severity as the years went by. This led to a very rocky period peaking in an ugly and disruptive divorce.
Leaving Home (22ABY)
A year later just before Lailoken was supposed to head off to the further studies abroad, a fight between him and his father escalated to a physical confrontation. During this fight he wounded his father with the sword he had been cleaning at the time. As a result of this his father banned him from his household and canceled his studies abroad. His mother, still professing to love her ex-husband, kicked him out of her household for nearly killing his father.
Having nowhere to go and nothing left on Corellia except his friends, most of whom were also leaving, Lailoken left Corellia. Originally seeking transportation with one of his closest friends he traveled off world. Eventually leaving his friend, Lailoken wandered the galaxy sometimes in ships he owned or seeking transportation with others. He drifted from world to world, cantina to cantina and job to job. Slowly becoming more inward and living an increasingly dark and criminal lifestyle.
Time with the Mandalorians (24-28 ABY)
Becoming a Mandalorian
A few years out form Corellia Lailoken found himself working with a group of Mandalorians on a planet in the Outer Rim. Despite a lot of the galaxy still not taking a liking to Mandalorians, he enjoyed their company much more than some of the scum he had had dealings with. Before he fully considered his actions (something not overly uncommon, when it came to a fight) Lailoken found himself siding with the Mandalorian troop when the planets law enforcement came looking for one of their members. In the ensuing gunfight Lailoken and the three Mandalorians killed several law enforcement officials. As well he saved one of the Mandalorians had been wounded. Due to the circumstances of their escape the wounded Mandalorian ended up on Lailoken’s ship so the other two were forced to lead him to their clan's home base. Once the wounded man had been seen to the Mandalorians decided that they did not need a relative outsider in their midst. Lailoken proved himself well in the fight that followed but was defeated when he received a wound to his sword arm. On his knees with a blade raised for the killing blow, the clan leader had a change of heart and decided to recruit Lailoken into his clan.
Even before his right arm was fully recovered he was training and before long became a fully fledged member of the Mandalorian community.

Mandalorian Code
During his time with the Mandalorians Lailoken found a peace he had not had since before he was a teenager. He settled down from his restless wandering to a relatively unchanging daily routine of work and training. He even took a Mandalorian woman as his wife. His prosperity though was not to last forever.
Joining the Brotherhood (28 ABY)
While on a job with his wife (the two had proved a formidable pair) she was captured by a group of bounty hunters. Lailoken tracked them off planet in his ship. Upon the re-appearance of the Mandalorian they had thought left behind, the bounty hunters panicked and started to squabble. One fired on the other destroying the other's ship which had been carrying Lailoken’s wife. In his rage Lailoken obliterated the remaining bounty hunter.
Realizing that he had no idea why someone had kidnapped his wife he returned to his home to pick up his belongings and some supplies and once again resumed his wandering. This time though his wandering had a purpose: what he sought was revenge and answers. Within a year Lailoken found himself boarding a shuttle bound to a system he had never heard of for a purpose he did not understand.
Personal Profile
Weapons and Armour
When given the opportunity Lailoken will always wear armour. Since before his time as a Mandalorian Lailoken would incorporate several durasteel plates into his usual every day garb. Typically these included a pair of armguards and breast- and back-plates and would be worn partialy concealed under a synth-leather jacket or vest. After becoming a Mandalorian Lailoken would wear full plate armour, sometimes concealed under a long robe or cloak. His armour was in the style of the Mandalorian Protectors though it incorporated more significant leg protection and was often red or painted with camouflage depending on the situation at hand.
Since joining the Brotherhood Lailoken has given up his habit for wearing armour and can typically be found wearing blue trimmed black robes befitting his rank and order. As well he seldom carries a blaster anymore except on rare occasions. He now chooses to fight with a Sith sword and a Fira until he has earned the right to carry his own lightsaber.

In the past Lailoken has shown himself to be an able pilot and star ship navigator. During his fateful escape with the wounded Mandalorian Lailoken stole a Firespray-class patrol and attack craft. It was seized the moment he landed but after earning his place among the Mandalorian Clan it became his trademark and one of his prised possessions. With the help of his Mandalorian friends he modified the ship to suit its purpose as Lailoken’s prefered starfighter and mode of transport.
