The Limbo, also known by the monicker Warmonger among other pirates, is a Dark Council owned Vindicator cruiser seconded to the Shroud Syndicate and operating around the Shroud nebula, the Maw, the Unknown Regions and Wild Space. It is a pirate raider most often found attacking Collective patrols, shipping and supply depots. It is crewed by some of the most bloodthirsty pirates this side of the Outer Rim and captained by the former Herald and Deputy Grand Master, Morgan B. Sorenn.
History
Construction {30 ABY}
The Limbo is the third designation of a Vindicator-class heavy cruiser in service to the Dark Council and the Iron Navy, the first two having been destroyed or decommissioned after the Horizons epidemic and war. The third iteration of the ship had been build on the same foundations, however, with more advanced technology granting it, at the time, far more advanced systems than the original Vindicator-class introduced just after the Clone War. Though still mid-tier in the time of commission, the Limbo was nonetheless an impressive addition to the Navy.
Military service {30 ABY - 36 ABY}
The Limbo's military service spanned the width and breadth of the galaxy. While much of its service was non-impactful, the ship saw action during the Dark Crusade, especially on the outer edges of the fighting, and in remote systems where larger ships could not afford to be wasted. The ship was heavily damaged during the Eleventh Great Jedi War, staying in drydock for a full year to effect repairs. It was only in 35 ABY, during the Collective incursions and the Battle of Nancora that the ship saw true combat once again. Keeping safe the perimeter of the planet, Limbo saw action against suicide tugs and smaller frigates and corvettes mostly. Its role during the Meridian Assault was that of a front-line assault vessel, cleaning away the smaller ships to pave the way for the Destroyers which assaulted the station.
Ghost ship {37 ABY - Now}
After the Meridian assault and victory, Limbo was seconded to the Deputy Grand Master at the time, Morgan B. Sorenn as her personal transport vessel. Seen as rather excessive by most, Morgan overtook the ship and slowly changed it to suit her needs. By the end of her term the ship was all but unrecognizable, and when it was granted to her as a means to assault Collective supply lines in the Unknown Regions, Wild Space and even in New Republic space, the ship changed drastically. Military personnel was decommissioned and replaced by pirates and brigands - more suitable for the gruesome job they were asked to do. The ship has since remained in the service of the Herald and the Dark Council as part of the Shroud Syndicate fleet.
Appearence
Exterior
Much of the exterior of the ship was painted a dark, almost black color, with stripes and adornments added meticulously to announce its allegiance to the Warmongers crew. Superficial modifications were made to the ventral and dorsal hulls which added generators that spew dark smoke adding to the menacing look.
Interior
The interior of the ship has remained largely unchanged by the pirates' incursion, although several differences are clearly noticeable by wayward guests or captives. The Limbo's once pristine, mirror-shined halls are now caked with grime, grease and oil. Components modified or replaced haphazardly without proper supplies lay on the floors while cleaning droids attempt to keep clean whatever parts of the halls they can. The interior lighting has been changed as well, featuring predominantly red and orange lighting instead of the sterile Imperial white.
Tactics
The Warmongers enjoy sneak attacks on unsuspecting victim ships by first intimidating and frightening them into a panic, and later overwhelming them with ion fire and starfighter assaults. Many of the targets for the Limbo include transport convoys with few military escorts, civilian transports, and liners with potential valuables, whole supply trains and haulers carrying goods and supplies to the enemy and many others. The Limbo avoids heavily policed or militarized planets like the plague and will generally only enter such systems at the very direst need or promise of bounty. Otherwise, it will skirt the edge, hide in asteroid fields or other obscurations and send smaller raiding parties to scout and plunder.
