- "The Mnemosyne had never left Lyspair, except for the end of the Rite of Supremacy, and that one time it had left, it had been destroyed. The ship named for the mother of knowledge had fallen to those of which the Brotherhood had no knowledge."
- ―excerpt from "Drifting," a short story by Anshar Kahn Tarentae
The ‘’Mnemosyne’’ was the command ship of the Shadow Academy until its destruction during the Eighth Great Jedi War. A Nebulon-B frigate, it was originally in the control of the clone Jaac Cotelin and later given to the Shadow Academy. It’s primary mission was to protect the Academy, and as such was always stationed in orbit around Lyspair.
History
The ‘’Mnemosyne’’ was originally a frigate under the commander of Jaac Cotelin, clone of Grand Master Jac Cotelin. It is unknown how the ship came into the clone’s possession, but during the Seventh Great Jedi War it served as one of the command vessels of the “red” side, under the commander of red Deputy Grand Master Anshar Kahn Tarentae. Upon the conclusion of the war and defeat of Jaac Cotelin, Anshar was allowed the keep the ship and placed it under the control of the Shadow Academy, naming it ‘’Mnemosyne’’ after the ancient goddess who gave birth to the Muses.
It came to serve as the Shadow Academy’s command vessel. Only need to protect the Academy, it stayed in constant orbit around Lyspair until shortly after the Rite of Supremacy, at which point it met with the rest of the Brotherhood fleet at the edge of the Shroud. Suddenly, an enemy fleet emerged from hyperspace and engaged the fleets in battle. The ‘’Mnemosyne’’ quickly deployed its squadron of TIE Interceptors, but they were torn apart by the opposing fleet.
Surrounded, the ‘’Mnemosyne’’ withstood heavy fire from the hostile ships for several minutes before finally exploding, killing all on board. It was believed that Headmaster Anshar, who was on board when it exploded, was also killed, but he was later revealed to be the only survivor.
