The Iron Crypt is a secure area deep beneath the Dark Hall. It houses the Dark Brotherhood's collection of holocrons and operates in an auxiliary capacity to the Dark Vault of the Shadow Academy. The center is maintained and protected by the Tribune of the Holocrons,his handpicked staff and The Caretakers.
Once a member achieved ‘Knight’ status they are assigned an access code that allows them to enter the Main Hall and “check out” a holocron for study. Knight’s are only authorized to ‘check out’ holocrons that have basic knowledge that are designed to make them yearn for more. Equites will be authorized to ‘check out’ holocrons that concern directly, or indirectly, with the chosen Discipline. Special authorization can be granted should a member need to research a particular subject, which can only be given by a Dark Council member. Elders are allowed to ‘check out’ any of the holocrons that are present in the Hall, with the exception of the holocrons of most importance. The Grand Master, and the Deputy Grand Master, are free to roam the Hall and access the holocrons of most importance in the secluded backroom that only they, and the Caretakers have access to.
Foyer
Spanning fifteen meters in diameter, the entryway into the Main Hall is completely dark, only a single beam of light illuminates an access terminal fixated in the middle of the room. There are only two doors into and out of the rotunda; the turbolift doors, and the three meter high double doors opposite that lead into the Main Hall. To venture on into the Main Hall, you must enter your access code that you were given when you attained ‘Knight’ status. Knockout gas will flood the room should the wrong access code be entered into the terminal.
Main Hall
The main hall houses the bulk of the Brotherhood’s holocron possession. This massive room is divided into three open sections, separated by floor to ceiling columns. In between every other column in the row is a holocron suspended by a miniature repulsorlift. Each section of the room is dedicated one of the Paths, with pedestals evenly spaced along each section that held holocrons of the specific Path. The Caretakers randomly switch out and shuffle around all holocrons that are not currently being studied as a precaution to members “borrowing” them for a time.
Side Rooms
These are rooms that line the outer walls of the Main Hall, they are there for any members who wish to ‘check out’ holocrons to study in private. Much like the different levels of holocron access for the ranks, the rooms can be used by anyone. But like the access levels, the room are unofficially divided between the Knights, Equites, and Elders. The Knights and Elders have the front and back rooms, while the Equites have the vast majority of rooms in the middle, as they make up the bulk of the Brotherhood members. There is a room on the far end of the Hall that is only access by the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master when they wish to study a holocron of importance. A member of the Dark Council may use this room, should they need more privacy when studying.
The Caretakers
The Caretakers are four IG-100 droids that are tasked with guarding and assisting Brotherhood members who wish to study a holocron during their visit. Their mandate is to swap out holocrons on a random basis, assist Brotherhood members, and make sure no holocrons leave without express permission from the Wiki Tribune or the Grand Master.
