Dirk was an killer-for-hire until one of his targets turned out to be a Dark Jedi Knight named Venator. Instead of killing him Venator made Dirk his apprentice and started to teach him the ways of the Dark Side. Now Dirk is in House Naga Sadow and is a member of the Battleteam, The Regulators.
Character History
Childhood Years
Dirk was born in the slums of Nar Shaddaa. His mother had died of birthing problems and his father became an alcoholic, because of this Dirk was raised by other slummers.
Exploring
Once Dirk was 4 years old he started to explore around the slums. He met many different people who frequented the slums who ranged from other slummers, criminals, and smugglers. Then as he was walking down a dark alley he heard a large commotion up ahead. Dirk slowly made his way down the alley and at the end he saw two large Trandoshans throwing a family into cages. Dirk ran away before anyone could have seen him.
Stealing
One day the people who would normally bring Dirk his food hadn't come. Two days later Dirk was tired of the hunger pains and set out towards the upper levels. Dirk stayed in the shadows while he was on the upper levels. What he saw amazed him, the buildings were cleaner and so were the people even the criminals up here looked better. After exploring for a while Dirk caught on to a scent which led him to a food vendor who was selling on the side of the street. When Dirk grabbed a few pieces of food he was about to run when the vendor grabbed his collar and started to beat him. After about ten minutes the vendor stopped and kicked the food Dirk had dropped off the side of the street. Dirk only had enough strength to get back down to the slums and when he did he sat against a wall and pulled a small loaf of bread out from under his shirt.
Slavers
When Dirk turned 5 years old his father told Dirk to follow him. Dirk and his father traveled the back alleys of the slums for a few minutes until they came upon two Trandoshans. Dirk remembered these were the slavers he had seen only a year ago. Dirk's father grabbed Dirk by the collar and threw him to the slavers feet. Dirk tried to get away but one of the slavers grabbed Dirk and threw him into a cage. After Dirk's father was paid he cursed his son on how he wasn't even worth 50 credits then left.
Slave Years
1st Year
Dirk was taken all around Nar Shaddaa and when the slavers stopped they were in a dangerous part of the moon, a place where most of the criminals frequent and the law tried to stay away. He the slavers sold Dirk to a strange man who said he ran an apothecary. This man made Dirk sweep his store and give a few items to customers. After a few months the man started to teach Dirk about good plants and poisonous plants. Dirk quickly learned the difference and was soon able to tell which plants were poisonous and which were good just by looking at them. But one day Dirk wasn't paying attention and accidentally mixed a poisonous herb in with a mans medicine. After the man died people stopped coming to the apothecary, the strange man was furious and sold Dirk back to the slavers.
2nd Year
This time the slavers took Dirk to a black market where he was bought by an old woman who felt sorry for him. The old woman resided in a market area there she sold an assortment of blades. Dirk learned that the woman was actually an expert with trowing knifes. When she knew Dirk had learned about it she asked if he wanted to learn how to throw a knife. Once Dirk started to get the hang of it he started to practice on his own. Then just as Dirk threw a knife towards a door the old woman walked in and the knife embedded itself in her chest. The husband of the old woman found her and after he almost killed Dirk he sold him to the slavers.
3rd Year
This year the slavers returned to the bad part of town where Dirk was bought by a loan shark. The man told Dirk that his job was to keep track of how much longer people had to pay him before he came looking for them. Dirk did his job well then after about a month the loan shark started taking Dirk with him teaching him how to find people that go into hiding. But on one job Dirk had lost sight of the loan shark. When Dirk had found him the man was lying in a pool of his own blood and there were a few guys around him. One of them grabbed Dirk and sold him to get a few credits.
4th Year
On the 4th year as a slave Dirk was taken back to the slums where a man bought him after haggling the price down. This man taught Dirk how to pick pockets and when he did Dirk would give the money to him.This continued until Dirk was caught pick pocketing a high ranking gang member before the man could kill him Dirk told him who had sent him to pick pocket him. The gang member seemed to know the guy and instead of killing Dirk he was once again sold into slavery.
5th Year
When Dirk turned 10 years old the slavers traveled to the upper levels of Nar Shaddaa where half of the slaves, including Dirk, we're bought by a fat rich man. The rich man took all of them back to his house and told them that he needed cheep labor for his party. Once the party started Dirk tried to do as he was told but the party goers always pushed him out of the way. Then when he was pushed into the rich man, the rich man started yelling about how Dirk had gotten him dirty. The man quickly raised his cane and brought it down across Dirk's face. Dirk blacked-out and when he came to he was surrounded by the bodies of the party goers and slaves. Before Dirk could move a Mandalorian, in full armor, burst into the house with blasters ready. Then he noticed Dirk and all of the carnage, he walked over to Dirk and told him he had a away form getting into trouble. Dirk quickly accepted, the Mandalorian picked up Dirk and ran far away from the house. When he stopped they were in front of a heavily guarded building and inside a large Hutt who went by the name of Grondo the Hutt. The Mandalorian said that Grondo needed assassins to work for him and that he was meant to find them, he had found Dirk.
Assassin Years
1st Kill
Dirk had trained with Torlax Valentine, the Mandalorian that had brought him in, and now Torlax thought it was time for Dirk's first mission. Torlax took Dirk to the targets last known area and told him that the target was in the building on the other side of the street. Dirk's job was to go in find the man and kill him without anyone knowing. So Dirk made his way into the building by the roof then made his way down to the floor the target was hiding in. When Dirk reached the room he went to open it and found no one in the room. Dirk was about to contact Torlax when the target burst out of the closet with a blaster to Dirk's head. Just then a blaster bolt flew through the window and took out the light, Dirk took his chance and knocked the blaster away then stabbed a knife into the target's heart. Dirk could hear voices coming so he quickly made his way back out to Torlax, who cursed him saying he didn't do the mission right since Dirk needed his help and he alerted other residents.
10th Kill, 1st Name
This was the first job Dirk had to use a blaster rifle, his mission was to kill a pompous young son of a very influential business man. Torlax started to kick Dirk because he was taking to long to shoot. Then just as Dirk pulled the trigger Torlax kicked him again changing the direction of the shot. The shot flew between buildings and then went through the man's stomach, though it didn't kill him, the man started to scream out in pain. Torlax ripped the blaster out of Dirk's hands then sent a shot through the man's head. Torlax jumped off of the building and Dirk followed. After running for about an two hours at full speed, Torlax and Dirk fell gasping for breath. Once Torlax had caught his breath he asked Dirk what his name was. Dirk told him that his mother had died before naming him and his father never gave him one. Torlax said he knew a name that would fit him and told him it meant dagger, Dirk. Dirk thought about it for a moment then said he liked it, but Torlax was deep in thought then asked Dirk about his last name. Dirk said his father would never let Dirk have his last name. Torlax then asked Dirk if he wanted his last name, he said that he didn't have a wife or any sons and he always wanted someone to carry on his legacy. Torlax asked Dirk to be his son, tears started to flow down Dirk's cheeks he had finally had a real father. He was Torlax's son, Dirk Valentine.
11th Kill
Dirk and Torlax made their way back to their home as happy as can be. That night Dirk was awoken by a his holodisk which would activate whenever he had another target. Dirk activated it and a droid told Dirk how the business man was retaliating for his son's death and Dirk's job was to kill the assassin. At first Dirk was worried for his life then the droid said that the shot that had killed the business man's son was fired by Torlax. Dirk got out of his bed and picked up the dagger his new father had given him then made his way to Torlax's room. Dirk raised the dagger and stabbed it into Torlax's heart. Torlax woke up about to attack Dirk when he saw his saw had tears running down his face. Torlax smiled and spoke the first lesson he had taught Dirk, "Finish a mission..." Then Dirk repeated it and finished it, "Finish a mission, no matter the target."
20th Kill
Dirk had turned 16 years old he had become one of the best of Grondo's assassin. The next mission he got didn't come from Grondo but another Hutt that had more power then Grondo. Dirk knew Grondo's building inside and out and knew exactly how to get to him without anyone knowing he was there. Dirk started the mission by taking out two guards on the roof then made his way in through the vents making sure that he dodged all of the alarms. Dirk got out of the vent and landed in the pen of Grondo's Cath Hound pen. He quickly took out the dogs before they could make a noise. When he exited the pen he was right behind Grondo's chair. Dirk walked out from behind the chair killing the two guards with throwing knives. Dirk stood in front of Grondo, who was trying to pay Dirk not to kill him. After Grondo stopped Dirk told him that he wasn't in it for the money he wanted to kill the man that set the bounty on his father. Grondo said he had to and that it was the only way, but before he could finish Dirk threw a knife in his head and set up a thermal detonator to go off when he would leave.
Killer-for-Hire
Dirk took contracts when he could find them, though most of them were small time not even testing his skills. Then a few days after he turned 19 he found a contract on a Dark Jedi, named Venator, who happened to be on Nar Shaddaa. Dirk found the man and followed him until there were little to no people around then attacked. The Dark Jedi spun around and Dirk saw that he was a Miraluka, a species similar to humans but they had no eyes. The Dark Jedi continued to dodge his attacks until Dirk finally felt a familiar power increase his speed allowing him to cut the Dark Jedi. Then just Dirk was about to continue the Dark Jedi attacked him in a flash and had him pinned. The Dark Jedi told him that he wanted to recall the contract on himself. Dirk at first thought he was joking but the look on the Dark Jedi's face told him other wise. Venator backed away then told Dirk that he would like to talk to him.
The Brotherhood
Venator began to teach Dirk the ways of the Dark Side and about the Brotherhood. Dirk began to rise in the ranks of the Brotherhood when he caught the attention of Kano Tor Pepoi the leader of the Battleteam, The Regulators. Dirk joined The Regulators and later an assassin team inside The Regulators called Team Raptor.
Unrest in the City
The Regulators's mission was at first to find Sunei and kill him, but before they made it planet side Fremoc Pepoi had contacted them giving them new orders capture Sunei instead of killing him. Team Raptor were first to hit the surface of Aeotheran, but as they did both Venator and Methyas, the Miraluka of the team, were being affected by some force in the area. After a few minutes they said that they were okay to go, but their Sight was diminished. Team Raptor started to make their way through the Nifokalija Mountains.
After being attacked the Raptors sent up a flare to signal their location to the rest of the Regulators. The other Regulators soon showed up and then as a group they made their way to Sunei's last known location. They found the crazy old man, who gave up willingly and followed them back to their ship. Venator, before leaving the cave, wrote "patience" and "master" in sith on the cave wall.
Back on the ship Sunei had been put in a cell and the Regulators were celebrating their first mission. Sunei used his power and knocked everyone on the ship out then released himself from his cell. Kano, the leader of the Regulators, was able to resist Sunei's power and woke up the other Regulators. The Regulators made their way through their ship until Methyas was possessed by a Force spirit and attacked the others. Luckily Venator was able to subdue Methyas, but not without great injury to himself.
After Dragoon patched up Methyas and Venator the Regulators continued through the ship. Roxas was the first to be attacked by an crew member, who until now seemed to be missing. Upon inspection Dirk saw some spores in the wounds of the crew member, who Roxas had just killed, and thought they looked familiar. Dirk explained where he had seen the spores and how they might be related, Kano then came up with and ultimatum from Dirk's explanation, either let the Force spirit continue to possess them or let the spores infect them.
Venator's Gifts to Dirk
Methyas spoke up telling Kano that the chances of the spirit trying to possess one of them again was low after Venator had showed it that no matter what body it took it couldn't beat him. Kano was convinced and allowed everyon to use their powers again. Methyas used his powers to locate Sunei on the ship and everyone advanced on that position.
Ironically, when they almost were there Kano became possessed by the spirit and attacked one of the Regulators. But just in time Fremoc, who had traveled to the Regulators's location on another ship, blocked Kano's attack. The rest of the Regulators made their way to Sunei as Fremoc and his former apprentice fought.
Just outside of the room Sunei was in the Regulators prepared themselves. Venator pulled out a pair of crescent daggers and gave them to Dirk, who was at first skeptical at the gift then gladly took them. After the Regulators were ready they made their way into the room and their they found Sunei. At first Sunei was too much for them then Macron showed up with two other Dark Jedi and Sunei was starting to lose.
