Kodais Solatus was a reclusive figure; generally kept to himself and rarely became involved in the Brotherhood's workings. Kodais preferred the scholarly pursuits of alchemy, history, and philosophy.

Biography

Early Life

Kodais was born the second son of Rehm and Sanlee Solatus in 10 BBY in the city of Iziz on Onderon. Raised in a stable working-class family, his father worked in a hospital and his mother ran a clothing store. Life on Imperial Onderon was stable. There was little to no Rebel presence and nothing of real military value on the planet to maintain a garrison. The only Imperial possession was a munitions depot deep in the jungle.

Kodais lived as most boys did in Iziz. He attended school with his older borther, Daksis, and played with his friends. Rehm would often tell Kodais legends of Freedon Nadd, the Beast Wars, the Jedi, and the Sith. They may have been only legends and myth, but he always believed they grew from a grain of truth. These tales would lead Kodais to seek the truth behind the stories later in life.

As Kodais grew to adulthood his family suffered a series of tragedies in rapid succession. Rehm was arrested by the Imperial Security Bureau on charges of which Kodais never learned the nature. Daksis joined the Stormtrooper Corps before Rehm was arrested. News that he had been killed in action reached Sanlee and Kodais mere weeks after Rehm was last seen. Distraught, Sanlee took her own life when Kodais was 17 years of age.

With nothing keeping Kodais at home, he sold off all his inherited property and joined the Onderonian Army under the New Republic. He fought in several major battles and many smaller actions before being honorably discharged after eight years of service. Returning to Onderon was bittersweet. Most of his friends did not understand where he had been or what he had seen. Moreover, he had become jaded and embittered toward the Empire, New Republic, and even his own people. Consumed by a slowly simmering disgusted rage, Kodais sought solace in the old legends and myths of his youth. Months of pouring over moldering books and tomes in museums and libraries lead Kodais off world in search of the truth.
