Thanatos is a newly created House within Clan Taldryan currently led by Raistline Taldrya Majere.
It was formed after the Invasion of Port Kasiya when the Consul, Appius "Zappius" Wight, grew concerned upon discovering that the Kasiyan Governor had successfully been able to construct a sizeable fleet and ground force that had severely threatened the security of Taldryan. After the recapture of the port, Appius knew measures needed to be taken to prevent an incident like this from recurring, and so he made the decision to develop a second House. Though unlike its counterpart, Thanatos conducts the majority of its assignments under a veil of secrecy and away from the prying eyes of the public.
History
In 39 ABY war erupted throughout Taldryan space. In the wake of the fourteenth Great Jedi War, the eradication of the Collective remnant still imbedded in Taldryanite society, and the attack by the Unchained on Ostara, Governor Yorinobu of Port Kasiya had taken advantage of the chaos to secretly amass his own personal fleet of ships and a large ground force. When the time was right he publicly betrayed the Clan, claiming the city for himself and preparing to defend it from the inevitable invasion. Taldryan's attempt to retake Port Kasiya was long and bloody, however by the end of the battle the Governor and his army were destroyed. Though the victory had come at great cost. Shortly thereafter, Appius Wight ordered the creation of a second House in Taldryan, recognizing the need for a group of individuals who would conduct a variety of black op assignments such as reconnaissance, assassinations, intel gathering and sabotaging enemy facilities. Thus House Thanatos came into being.
