"How in the Bull's name do you work this thing!?"
―Arack Tavar, speaking of a Citadel holo-map; circa 31 ABY

Arack Tavar, birth name of Mithraist, is a 20 year old Eldarian descended from the Line of Keadea, the Scarlett Empress. Born in 11 ABY to a nomadic and religious group known as the Ave Invictum, Arack was given to the Eldarian Rangers at the age of two, before their massive militaristic reform. It was then that the young boy was given the Basic name of Arack Tavar and was raised among the Dark Star Nomads before re-joining the Eldarian Rangers at age 18. Now, at the age of 20, Tavar has joined the First Clan that is Arcona and utilizies the tenets and skills taught to him as a Ranger in his pursuits as a Dark Jedi acolyte.

Character History

Descent from the Scarlett Line

The baby who would become Arack Tavar was born in 11 ABY during the Rotation of the Stag, to a group of religious fanatics known as the Ave Invictum. Knowing that their highly religious ways would not be the proper enviroment to raise a child, they gave him to a passing group of Eldarian Rangers (long before they were reorganized as DARTs). The Rangers travelled back to one of their encampments and handed the boy to the Dark Star Nomads, their founding Chapter in the Priests Caste.

The Dark Stars, while still nomads, were far more organized and prepared to raise a baby and so they did, teaching him lore and woodcraft, with swordplay and marksmanship as well as survival tactics. When the young Nomad turned 18, he was returned to the Eldarian Rangers as a Wayman, and promptly after witnessed the reorganization of the Rangers into the Deep Assault Recon Troopers.

All New

Much to Arack's dismay, during the reformation, he was split from his friends and mentors in the Eldarian Rangers and was originally to be assigned to the 3rd Brigade on Arconae Primus but during a visit to Selen to receive his Arcona Armed Forces clearance, he was discovered to be Force Sensitive by a 23 year old man named Jason Thor, who was a Captain in the AEF with Dark Jedi training.

In a whirl of motion, Arack was hustled off to the majestic and forbidding Citadel that topped the ringed city of Estle. He was assessed, studied and a full comprehensive assessment, based off of batteries of tests and physicals, presented the conclusion that the simple Wayman known as Arack Tavar was not so simple at all, but actually the most recent male descendant of the Scarlett Empress, Keadea. Within a 48 hour period, Arack was stuffed onto a Lambda-class shuttle, piloted by Captain Thor. The shuttle was set to travel to the VSDII Paladin.

More Than a Wayman

"See you soon, Wayman! Assuming you make it that is..."
―Captain Jason Thor, AEF

The Victory-class Star Destroyer, christened the Paladin, was the Dark Jedi Brotherhood's answer to the siege that had befallen Lyspair during the Vong Incursion and later the Unifying War. Arack was dropped off by Captain Thor and was systematically enrolled in classes and added to the Brotherhood's roll of students. Tavar took an immediate like to historical classes and majored in the Histories of the Sith Empire, as well as Pre and Old Republic history, passing all with A's.

This was not to say that Tavar let himself go while studying on the mobile Academy, he still worked out rigorously to keep himself military-fit and his unique kukri was never seen off of his person except when explicitly forbidden. In 31 ABY, five months after Jason Thor left him at the Shadow Academy, the same man came to collect him.

The Professors and Docents had contacted the Clan Arcona Summit and decreed that Arack Tavar was ready to join the public ranks of the Brotherhood. Giving him the rank of Novice (skipping Apprentice all together due to his gung-ho exam taking and results), Arack accompanied Thor back to Selen and Estle City where his rank as a Wayman was compounded with his overall AAF rank of Cadet.

However, Arack arrived to a Arcona embroiled in a coup; the Lord Consul, Sashar Arconae, had apparently committed suicide and his vindictive and cruel predecessor and master, Mejas Doto, had taken the throne yet again. Arack was separated from Jason Thor due to the Captain having to report to his Heavy Infantry unit for orders, as the General Invasion Alarm had been sounded.

A confused and angry Arack made his way to the Arconan Citadel, stumbling around and becoming more and more embarrased as he tried to cope with the abundance of complicated technology used; advanced and integrated technology was something rejected by true Eldarian Rangers and never a subject taught in depth on the Paladin.

The then-Novice wandered in this exact manner until he finally found the temporary offices of the House Galeres Summit and encountered the most frightening person he had ever met. Typically, this person was none other than his Aedile....

Breaking Point

Possessions

Weapons

Verpine Projectile Rifle - Arguably one of the most versatile and deadly weapons in the galaxy, the Verpine Projectile weapon system comes normally comes with a hefty price tag, but through their various connections, the Deep Assault Recon brigades are never in a shortage of these weapons.

The VPR can fire standard plasma rounds as well as the numerous types of custom-made ammunition that the Rangers are so adept in crafting. The rifle can chamber and fire nearly everything found in nature; rocks, bark, seeds, roots, etc. Plastics and metal are acceptable rounds but hardly used by the DARTs as they usually engage in combat far away from civilization.

Just like the Shatter Gun, the Projectile Rifle is silent when firing, no matter the size of the round in the chamber. At most, only a muted thump will be heard when a round leaves the barrel, but by the time an enemy detects the sound, it will be to late. The VPR does not utilize an electro-magnetic scope for auto-targeting, but a normal, zoom capable device, meaning that Arack must use the scope manually. However, since it's a skill taught from such an early age, he can often aim and hit his targets more tactically than a EMP-S.

The rifle itself is matte black with an adjustable scope but each DART learns how to create camo-covers for their rifle depending on the environment; woodland, desert, arctic, etc. Like all Eldarian Rangers, this remains to be the ranged weapon that Arack is most proficient with but he keeps a 22t4 holdout as a back-up and often takes to the range to practice with it.

Eldarian Kukri - A weapon of ancient design, the Eldarian kukri is hand-forged by each individual Ranger, much like the lightsaber of the Dark Jedi Knight. The kukri is composed of a light durasteel that is darkened by fire to resemble a more grayish color, much like iron. The blade is single-edged and a deadly 17 inches long but the original kukris were shorter, roughly 10 inches. These blades, however, proved ineffective when the Rangers were faced with melee combat.

The hilt is made of the same metal as the blade but wrapped in tanned nerfhide that acts as an excellent natural slip-resistor. The scabbard is crafted of the same hide with simple decorations pertaining to each Ranger. The kukri is seen as a integral part of Ranger society and is used for melee combat, hunting, trap setting, and woodcutting.

22t4 Holdout - A blaster pistol that commonly saw use as a Imperial officer sidearm, the 22t4 is small, compact, and reliable. The pistol is matte black with a special, custom made silencer attachment, but a woodland camo-cover is used when in the field. The 22t4 is the only other weapon that Arack uses except for his Verpine Projectile Rifle and Eldarian kukri.

Clothing

Dark Jedi Rank Robes - Robes of rank are often seen as the unofficial, but still important, uniform of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. The robes are the usual attire of Arack Tavar when not in his woodland camo. As a younger Journeyman, Arack's robes are light black with a darker shade overcloak and hood. The under-robes consist of a tunic, trousers, standard issue combat boots, and skin-tight gloves. Besides the color of the robes (they get darker in color as ones rank increases) an appropriate number of flashes in the respective Order color are used to denote rank on either shoulder. For example, Arack is an Obelisk Acolyte, so on his shoulders are three blue flashes.

Woodland Camoflauge - A Ranger is taught from a very early stage in their training to rely on nature and the field to provide what they need and their mission of needing to be able to move quickly and often quietly does not allow for heavy armor as seen in the rest of the military. Each DART is tasked with creating their own camouflage uniform as well as a ghilli suit. The only part of their field uniform issued by the general military are the tough, treaded, steel-toed combat boots that are put to so much use out in the jungles and a set of seven appropriately colored undershirts.

Much like the forging of their kukri, the Rangers craft their uniforms in a preset pattern but as the material becomes camouflage it always differs from the template. This creates a sense of self-worth and individuality in each Ranger, as their rank system takes away from that, but also a sense of comradie and fellowship. The finished uniform consists of a pixelated mesh of medium tones of brown, black, and forest green for a combat jacket, utility trousers, gloves, and a balaclava and as stated above, no two uniforms are the exact same.

Woodland Cloak - While the above mentioned uniform does most of the work, no helmet is provided (or wanted) so the Rangers rely on yet another self-crafted item: the Woodland Cloak. Made in the same style and design as the combat uniform, the cloak attaches to hooks on either shoulder of the RNGPAT jacket with a hood hanging down that can be drawn and put down for easy concealment. This is the normal cloak and hood used by the Rangers but when ghilli suits are called for, these are discarded and the ghilli used over top of the combat clothing. When in full woodland gear, including the cloak and hood, with the balaclava, and fully armed, the Eldarian Rangers (DARTs) are quite a frightening sight to behold and even more so to engage in combat.

Trivia

  • Arack is currently the only Player-Character Keadean in Clan Arcona, a decision encouraged by Etah Idanian.
  • Tavar, in-character, sees no use for the abundance of technology that serves even the most simplest purposes, a opinion picked up during his time as an Eldarian Ranger. Out-of-Character, Arack loves technology or else he wouldn't be here....
  • Is in love with Baked Ziti as a main dish and Key Lime pie as dessert.
  • Favorite song is currently Citizen/Soldier by 3 Doors Down.
  • The Woodland Camo image is the MARPAT (MARine PATtern) combat uniform for the United States Marine Corps.
