To test the strength of Taldryan following the alien incursion, a group of veterans sent a pirate fleet to attack the Rybanloth System
History
Seeds are Sown...
It had been some time since a race of unknown aliens had invaded Antei. Taldryan had not been challenged since that time, their new fleet still not fully tested against the dangers of the galaxy. Three veterans of the Clan, concerned that Taldryan may become soft without any challenges to face, met to discuss what can be done.
Contact was made by one of the veterans with a former Peace Brigade officer-turned pirate, Admiral Jesec Dirium. The leader of a band of pirates, Jesec was lured with information on the Rybanloth System, his own recon missions showing the system to be woefully under-protected, but rich with resources and materials. Seeing an opportunity for a permanent base of operations, Jesec agreed to attacking the System and running out any current inhabitants.
Under Attack!
The pirate fleet came unannounced, quickly dealing with the limited defenses of the system. Although a number of archaeological digs were in place, along with numerous mining operations, the location of the System was thought to keep it sufficiently safe from attack. After quick fly-by passes subduing any resistance, the pirate fleet began to send forces down to begin the process of bringing everything under their control.
Swift Justice
Although efficient in their invasion, a distress message was still able to get through to the Taldryan headquarters on Karufr, the Clan Summit alerted immediately. Halcyon, current Consul of the Clan, immediately ordered a counter-attack to retake the Rybanloth System. Ordering his Proconsul, Chaosrain to lead the effort, Battlegroup Vanguard was sent to take back their planets.
The attack was swift and ruthless. Admiral Dirium’s information had never included having to defend himself against a well-stocked fleet commanded by dark jedi. The Battlegroup descended upon the pirates, their intention to completely wipe out every last vessel and living person aboard them.
A secondary mission was also ordered by Halcyon, carried out by Vlad and Kraval. The two dark jedi, and a special forces unit from the Taldryan military, boarded the flagship of the pirate fleet and captured their leader, bringing him back to their Proconsul. Using the force, Chaosrain extracted all information that Jesec had concerning any orders he had. The recording was sent back to Halcyon for review.
Endgame
Word came back quickly with news of victory for Taldryan. Their ships had performed to their abilities and the Clan itself had shown no signs of weakness when confronting the enemy forces. However, the information gleaned from Jesec had shown another force behind the attacks.
Halcyon had stayed behind sensing there was more to the incursion than just pirates, and used the time to pour over flight plans and other trails of consequence. Details on the physical description of who gave over information on the Rybanloth system cemented his own conclusions.
Dealing with the situation himself, the Taldryan Consul visited the Dark Brotherhood fleet, confronting one of the men behind this incident, Master At Arms Syn Kaek. Kaek confirmed all of Halcyon’s theories, including the meeting between himself, Kir and Duga, as well as the clear information trail he hadn’t bothered to conceal.
Words were exchanged between the Elders, although no blows were reported as having come to pass. The incident proved Taldryan’s effectiveness, but rumors of who was truly behind it left lingering doubts within the minds of many a Taldryan.
