Constructed above Selen in the Dajorra System following the Tenth Great Jedi War, Dusk Station is the newest asset of Clan Arcona.
General
Suspended in geosynchronous orbit above Estle City, Selen’s capital, Dusk Station serves as the main hub for all traffic in and out of the Dajorra System. With the increased need for security following the conflict on New Tython in 35 ABY, the ’’Cardan I’’-class Space Station was brought online - ostensibly to address the concerns of alarmists regarding the possibility of a counter-attack by Odan-Urr or the Mandalorians. All cargo transports bound for Selen, or leaving therefrom, are required to stop at the station. Inspections are carried out by Dajorran military personnel to prevent the transport of hazardous or otherwise restricted cargo.
Additionally, the station is utilized as a spacedock for vessels of the Dajorran fleet in need of repair. While the facilities are inadequate to construct new ships or rectify any but the most minor damage to cruisers, it is capable of performing extensive repairs and retrofits to fighters, transports, and corvettes, as well as other small- to medium-sized vessels. Given the number of ships in the Dajorran fleet and the frequency of conflict, this is a much needed addition to Dajorra’s infrastructure.
Secrecy
While ostensibly a customs station and repair facility, and valuable in that capacity, those functions are in fact a screen for the actual purpose behind Dusk Station. In truth, the station serves as a launching platform for Void, Arcona’s premier space superiority unit. Purchased after the Invasion of New Tython, using profits from the sale of artifacts ransacked from the Jedi Enclave, it is a cutting edge squadron operating in secret from a restricted docking bay on the station.
In addition to acting as a base of operations for Void Squadron, the station houses all Arconan prisoners designated Code Black. Holding cells constructed from Laminanium, the same self-repairing metal that goes into YVH Combat Droids, are surrounded by ysalamir and used to contain the most dangerous criminals and malcontents as well as those Dark Jedi driven insane by the Force.
Construction
Built out of the hulks of wrecked starships scavenged from above New Tython, Dusk Station appears weak at first glance. Despite this, the hulls have been repaired and reinforced to bring station integrity up to specification and the oddity of its construction gives the station a unique appearance both within the [[Dajorra System] and in the Brotherhood as a whole. While easily underestimated, the hull of the ‘’Cardan I’’-class Space Station is equal to that of any other model in its class. Likewise, with the exception of additional docking bays, the armaments, shielding, and other specifications match those of more conventionally built stations of that model.
Criticism
While military and political support has been outspoken regarding the benefits and increased security the station brings to Selen, there is a vocal minority staunchly opposed to the continued operation of Dusk Station. The most common complaints are the significant delay it causes in traffic passing through customs, the high possibility of civilian casualties if it is ever targeted during an invasion, and the drain of budgetary resources. Prominent among the critics are Naruba Investments and Synergy Construction and Mining, though their support for this minority is questionable given the impact the station has on their own profit margins.
