- "Look what we’ve got our fingers in!"
- ― Company slogan
H. W. Jones Archaeological Society is a small archaeological group that operates an excavation firm. It generates about two-hundred thousand credits per fiscal year. These funds are mostly spent on new equipment and bribes concerning information about Force artifacts, as well as research about those artifacts. The corporate headquarters are located in Estle City on Selen, and seventy-five percent of the company's operations take place on that planet. The other 25 percent occur on other planets in the Dajorra System. The company serves as an investigation and retrieval branch for Force artifacts, ranging from tissues used by Dark Jedi of old to smelly old combat suits. And the occasional fossil.
Organization
The archaeological society has its headquarters in Estle City, where there are typically two dozen secretaries and other administrators running over research on artifacts, cataloging investigations, and managing operation planning. There are then a handful of head archaeologists that oversee the actual operations of excavating discoveries (this work is mostly done by droids) who then report to the Society President.
The formal head of the Society is Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. His father gave his name to the Society, but Jones Jr. has grown old and quite senile over the past few years. In his place is an unknown de facto leader, who answers in secret to the Grand Euphemist.
It is unknown whether or not the field archaeologists that oversee operations are Force-sensitive. They are obviously trusted by the Grand Euphemist to fulfill their duties, and have an uncanny knack for hunting down artifacts. The only office is located on Eldar, as the costs for the transportation of equipment are covered by the Society’s largest share-holder, Naruba Investments.
There is an underground vault, closely guarded at all times, that is said to contain the Society’s finer artifacts. Some dispute this claim, saying that the artifacts would be better protected with the Entars themselves, or in vaults protected by Clan Arcona.
Finances
H. W. Jones Archaeological Society brings in about 250,000 credits each fiscal year in net profits from its archaeological services. The company’s work is spread throughout the galaxy, with most costs covered by shareholders. All of the income of the company is spent on Force artifacts or on unknown expenses of the Entar family. However, a portion of its profits are sometimes used to support other companies affiliated with the family.
Aside from the credits brought in, the artifacts are occasionally useful. The Jones Society is often sent in on jobs were Dark Jedi lore and ancient reports suggest that items may have been lost.
Sixty percent of the Society’s profits come from Selen, and forty percent comes from other planets. Of these profits, approximately twenty percent is spent on other expeditions, twenty percent is spent on maintaining offices on other planets that allow the Entar family greater reach, twenty percent is spent covering other companies, and forty percent is funneled directly into the pockets of the family members.
Successful Operations
The Archaeological Society is a recently created group, and has only just begun to receive increased funding and more prestigious projects. However, they have been operating in the Dajorra System for a few years now, and have built up a larger network than many would have thought possible in such a short time.
