The Dlarit Security Force (DSF) is one of the main subsidiaries of the Dlarit Corporation. The head of Dlarit Security is the adjutant general who serves as the commander for all security and military assets owned by the company and reports to the governor general. The adjutant general is in turn assisted by a number of other staff officers.
The main purpose of the DSF is to protect the various assets of the corporation, in particular the Orian system. Unlike the Dlarit Special Operations Group, the DSF seldom undertakes missions away from home and is unaware of the true nature of the Dlarit Corporation's owners.
Branches
Organisation
The DSF is organised into two sections; the Dlarit Navy and the Dlarit Army. The Dlarit Navy is tasked with the protection of the Orian system and its neighbouring spacelanes. The Dlarit Army, by large, provides day-to-day security and policing among the colonies set up throughout the system. Members of the army also serve as marines and starfighter pilots onboard some of the vessels of the Dlarit Navy.
The commander-in-chief of the DSF is the viceroy. The viceroy oversees the department of security in charge of the DSF and officially holds the final say in all matters. In practice, however, the viceroy usually delegates responsibility to the governor general. In turn, the governor general will normally appoint an adjutant from the military to advise him and handle ordinary day to day issues. The lieutenant governor serves as the governor-generals deputy and represents him when he is unavailable.
The reach of the authority of the individual planetary governors is limited to the forces stationed on their planet. Where a planet has no need for a formal governor a direct military governor known as a prefect is usually appointed from DSOG by the commander general to oversee the corporation's interests.

The Dlarit Navy and Dlarit Army are both split up into a number of branches. The Navy is broken down into several lines. Aside from the naval marines serving aboard the ships of the Dlarit Navy, most of the Dlarit Army is split up by planet or colony.
The Dlarit Navy is headed by the fleet commander. Together with a small army of staff officers the fleet commander is aided by the individual ship captains. Despite technically being a member of the Dlarit Army the commander of the Dlarit Starfighter Corps reports to the fleet commander rather than the chief of staff of the army.
The chief of staff heads the Dlarit Army. Due to the diversity of operations performed by the army it's organisation is not as standardised as the navy.

The breakdown of the navy depends on the nature of the ship or ships in question. On capital ships all junior officers will follow the enlisted system of the navy from junior crewman up to master chief petty officer. The starfighter corps operates slightly differently. Due to the level of prestige associated with individual pilots even the lowest flight officer is still considered the equivalent of a naval ensign. The majority of the starfighter corps are actually technicians who work in the hangar.
The soldiers of the army range from the lowest rank of recruit to the highest of sergeant major. These ranks are also used by the Dlarit Police, a subdivision of the Dlarit Army charged with maintaining civilian law and order, although the usage may differ slightly.

Unit Structure
In theory senior officers can appoint whomever they see fit to manage a particular unit. In practice, however, it is normal for a certain degree of standardised levels of seniority.
Dlarit Navy
The head of the navy, the fleet commander, is by definition always an admiral.
The main backbone of the navy is its capital ships which are arranged into a number of lines. A captain generally heads each line, though it is not irregular for a captain of the line to be promoted to rear admiral. Each line is divided into individual ship commands. Most Star Destroyers are commanded by a captain, smaller frigates and corvettes usually a commander or lieutenant. Regular crew utilise the enlisted navy ranks.
Attached to the navy are the marine and starfighter corps, both divisions of the Dlarit Army. The head of the marine or starfighter corps is usually a colonel. The divisions of the marine corps depend on the number of marines assigned to a particular ship.
The head of most starfighter wings is usually a colonel or major. Each wing is broken down into individual starfighter squadrons. Most squadrons operate twelve craft and are normally led by a captain. Squadrons are divided into flights and wing pairs. A lieutenant is usually assigned to each flight. Each flight of four starfighters is split into two wing pairs.
Dlarit Army
The chief of staff of the army holds the rank of general.
Divisions of around ten-thousand men are commanded by colonels, brigades of four-to-eight-thousand by colonels or lieutenant colonels, regiments of four-thousand by lieutenant colonels, battalions of around a thousand by majors, companies of a few hundred by captains and platoons of several dozen by lieutenants.
Platoons are broken down into a number of squads, each led by a sergeant. The grade of the sergeant can depend on numerous factors from the size of the squad, age, experience, prestige and so on. The lieutenant in charge is normally assisted by a staff or gunnery sergeant, with master sergeants and sergeant majors assisting more senior officers in larger formations. Each squad, usually consisting on about five to ten men, is broken into fireteams or, in the case of scout units, lances. Fireteams and lances are commanded by a corporal who is assisted by a lance corporal.
