The Apostles of Syn is a Battleteam of Karness Muur within Plagueis tasked with the cult-like indoctrination of the inexperienced Journeymen of Karness Muur. Unlike other organizations, Apostles of Syn was created for one specific purpose, to act as the shadow of Clan Plagueis. Under the wing of an experienced and battle hardened leader, newcomers are rinsed of all previous memories and trained in the arts of the Dark Side of the Force, even using extreme measures if necessary.

History

Caught out in the midst of the Horizons Crisis, Plagueis was caught unaware and as a result was devastated by an overwhelming force. The leadership of Plagueis vowed for this to never happen again. They gave the responsibility of creating a new intelligence apparatus to recently knighted former Espo Arden Karn. Using Karness Muur as a building block for his plans, Arden assembled a team specialized in infiltration and espionage, specifically to gather information on other organisations across the Galaxy, but mainly around the Brotherhood.

In order to keep a constant flow of new recruits coming into Karness Muur, when Plagueis returned to Clan status, the Apostles of Syn were created specifically for one purpose: to convert Force-sensitives into hardened Force users who use shadows to their advantage. They were to carry on the founding traditions of the original Battleteam and mold new recruits into the future eyes and ears of Plagueis.

Lore

The Apostles of Syn is a cult-like unit which is responsible for that indoctrination of new members of Karness Muur. This could be as simple as orientating willing and eager members to the ways of the Dark Side, to the extremes of manipulation, torture and the forced breaking of will.

As a result of the extreme training regime, both physical and mental that each and every one of the initiates go through, only a small percentage survive. Whilst this may seem detrimental in the long run, it does have a net positive result. The result is fantastic, the apostles who make it to knighthood are one of a kind. Unlike other organisations, the Apostles of Syn boast proficient Dark Jedi Knights capable of handling high ranking Equites in a duel. On top of this, each apostle is trained vigorously using the Force, in both physical and mental means. To achieve this, once an apostle is trusted enough, they are tasked with venturing to the Shadow Academy on Lyspair, here they learn to perfect their chosen lightsaber forms and branch out into more exotic uses of the Force.

Namesake

Apostles of Syn is named after Sorzus Syn, who was one of the first Dark Jedi with such notable names as Ajunta Pall, Remulus Dreypa and Karness Muur, each having a Plagueian unit named after them such is their importance to the development of the Sith and Dark Jedi alike. Syn's spirit is thought to reside on Nfolgai within the system of the same name which can be found in the Esstran sector. The last official sighting of Syn was on Nfolgai and engaging her in combat is extremely foolish.

Base of Operations - The Chasm

Here lies the main training centre for the apostles. They have access to all the training equipment needed to further develop their knowledge of Brotherhood history, combat prowess, and the ways of Clan Plagueis. The “Chasm“ is split into various different subsections in order to give the initiate in training everything they will need in order to become successful and eventually reach knighthood. The Chasm is located in the lower levels of the NSD Preeminence

Shadow Arena

This is where apostles learn the way of the Force. In this arena, there is no limit to the training that one can do, as Force barriers operate within the vicinity. However, like most exciting things there is a requirement in order to gain access to the arena. You must be the rank of Apprentice by passing the Test of Lore. This is because the Plagueis summit must know that you are strong enough to train in the arena. As well as using Force attacks against one another, apostles are also capable of utilising their shadow training, by using the dark of the arena to sneak up on an opponent.

The Stadium

The Stadium is where most of the lightsaber combat takes place, however this blade training is unlike any other in the Brotherhood. Using newly thought of methods of instruction, blademasters now pit apostles against other apostles, with each week there being a different competition, and the winning “earning” the respect of the blademasters, and thus coming closer to promotion. However this is not without consequence as many of those who lose on a regular basis will often be found in the kolto tanks, recovering from numerous limb breakages and heavy bruising.

In between dueling, apostles are able to practice their lightsaber sequences against various types of droid combatants and through this, many of the apostles become proficient in their preferred lightsaber form way before knighthood.

The Mess

As a result of a harsh regime, this is probably the least visited room out of every room on the ship. Only used on special occasions and by the Equite ranking Plagueians, the Mess can seat up to five hundred people, but never seats more than half of that. This is because of the strict training that apostles undergo, they must only use the Force in order to keep their body alive, and are only fed and watered every few days, but even this meal is nutritious.

The Chambers of Torment

The final stage of an apostle’s life will take place here, as well as the first. They are initially bought here as a slave, found to be Force-sensitive and are tortured until they comply to the needs of the Apostles of Syn. After that, they undergo their training until they are ready to be knighted. Once they have passed every other physical and mental task, they are sent to the chambers in order to be “treated”. Here, they are wiped of any previous personal memories, whether that is of family or other loved ones in order to ensure that they have no other attachments to anything other than the Brotherhood.

The Library

Simply known as the Library, this modern facility boasts regular information from the Shadow Academy itself in order to guide the apostles through the Journeymen ranks. Everything else in the library is standard however, apart from one key feature. As the Apostles of Syn strive to be one of the best information gathering organisations out there, the Library is known to house the largest archive of enemy information anywhere in the Plagueian sphere of influence. Subsequently, a large portion of an apostle’s path to knighthood will be spent here, to keep them update to date on the information and to also update the information themselves, after having completed an infiltration task for example.
