Captain Odbris currently serves as the commanding officer of the VIN Valor, one of the oldest ships that serve in the Taldryan Navy. A brilliant, if somewhat unconventional, Bith soldier. Captain Odbris is held in high esteem by his fellow officers.
History Overview
Born to Bith immigrants on Karufr. Odbris was raised in a family of scientists who focused all of their attention on furthering medical technologies. As a child, Odbris was frequently left to his own devices as his family kept their focus solely on their research. Whenever he spoke up to them about this, he would be locked up in his father's private study as a way for his parents to escape their nagging son. His father's study was however a vast library containing vast sources of information on an equally vast amount of topics. Like most children, Odbris had a fascination for dangerous occupations, such as law and military forces. This led him to study whatever information he could find in his father's study.
As a young adult, he would study abroad on Taruma. Here he became involved in a discussion with a military officer over tactics, strategies, and the tasks of the military. When a Dark Jedi of Taldryan caught rumors of a brilliant Bith strategist, Nara was immediately scouted and persuaded to join the armed forces. His remarkable high score on his enlistment exam enabled the Bith to immediately join the Katarn Academy of the TMI. It was also during this time that the Bith's knowledge and acumen for unconventional tactics was fully discovered. It was also here where he became more and more of a pacifist. His unrelenting conviction to stop wars, save innocents - and soldiers, was found laughable but useful by TalSOC, who stationed him aboard a support/medical vessel.
As is the case with the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, conflicts came and went at a rapid pace. This saw Odbris eventually take virtual command of multiple large-scale fleet movements - despite his low rank. Saving multiple lives - and the face of his incompetent senior officer - through superior maneuvering on multiple occasions, did not go unnoticed for long. The members of the Strategic Operations Council would reward the Bith with a "promise"; the promise of being able to make a difference for those under his command. It was an offer he could not refuse as he accepted his promotion to Captain without a single doubt in his mind.
Captain Odbris still serves as the commanding officer of the VIN Valor in the naval forces. Here, he gladly shoulders the burden of his responsibilities, and continues his mission of saving as many lives as possible. He however bears a degree of frustration; he still has not been able to affect major changes in policy - those he was promised - despite this, the Bith continues to serve diligently and effectively.
Physical Description
Having a rare, green complexion - owing to the climate of Karufr - Nara stands out from other Bith. His large, black eyes seem expressionless at a quick glance, but upon close inspection seem to hold a degree of constant irritation, possibly a result of having to serve in the Expansionary Force.
While standing at attention, the Bith measures in at 180 centimeters (5'11"), making him physically tall for a Bith. He does not hold the physique of a career soldier; while physically tall for a member of his species, his body isn't lined with heavy musculature. He does keep himself to a certain level of fitness, one adequate enough to complete his duties, but doesn't concern himself with much physical exercise despite his role as an officer.
Personality and traits
If there is one thing to say about Nara Odbris, it is that he is not a career soldier; he is a man that has an inherent disdain for conflict. Many wonder why Odbris is a member of TalEx, and a captain at that. An outspoken pacifist; the Bith is not afraid to voice his opinions, even to Taldryan's Dark Jedi. Odbris seeks to keep casualties to a bare minimum if a fight does break out. His disdain for combat was the very reason he was placed in command of the Valor as it serves the role of primary support vessel during battle group operations. As such, his unconventional personality and vision on conflict are put to good use.
The Bith spends his leisure time running battlefield simulations and tinkering with machinery. More so out of personal interest and enjoyment rather than need. His deep rooted interest in naval tactics came about as a child, where he was oftentimes locked up in his father's private study, as a means of passing time.
