The Instigator was a Raider II-class Corvette that served as the base of operations of Opress Squadron. The Instigator was one of the six Raider II-class Corvettes under the command of the Ascendant Fleet. However, the Instigator was part of Command Force Aurek and thus reported directly to the Summit of Clan Plagueis.

In keeping with Opress Squadron's role as a team of elite commandos that deploy to hostile situations, the Instigator often operated independently of the rest of Command Force Aurek and the Ascendant Fleet as a whole. Supported by the personal ships of Opress Squadron's members, the Instigator could often be found docked in Aliso City, either at Landsdown Docks or Clan Plagueis’s own spaceport.

Characteristics

The Instigator was a Raider II-class Corvette produced by starship construction company Kuat Drive Yards for the Galactic Empire's naval forces; its design was reminiscent of the dagger-shaped hulls of larger ships used by the Galactic Empire, such as the Imperial-class Star Destroyer.

Unlike most others of its kind, the Instigator was pained pitch-black with sickly yellowish-green accents along the edges of the hull and bridge. The ship proudly bore the emblem of Opress Squadron, painted in the same sickly yellowish-green on the starboard side of the upper hull just in front of the bridge.

Construction

Built by the legendary Kuat Drive Yards, the Instigator, like all ships of her family were specifically constructed for use by the Galactic Empire. However, once the Empire fell Kuat Drive Yards continued its long and storied history of providing vessels to all factions with an ample supply of credits. Following the destruction of the original Ascendant Fleet, the Dread Throne commissioned the construction of a new fleet. Included were several Raider II-class Corvettes.

History

Following her construction alongside her sister ships, the Instigator had seen little actual combat, as the recent conflicts had not required to the mustering of the entire Ascendant Fleet. But she did play a part in the opening salvo of the conflict that would come to be known as The Zsoldos Incursion.

Opress Squadron leaked information to Battleteam Deathwatch in order to draw them into a trap. On a space station within the Unknown Regions, the two units clashed. After either side was unable to gain the advantage, Appius Wight, Aedile of House Wren, realized the fight was a trap, at which point Wrathus revealed that they had successfully been distracting Deathwatch from Plagueis’ assault on Zsoldos.

As the two Battleteams fought, the Dread Lord’s forces, the Ascendant Fleet and Ascendant Legion, arrived at Zsoldos and began their attack. While the Fleet engaged Vizsla’s own fleet, the Ascendant Legion made their way to the ground, aiming to occupy or destroy several key locations on the planet, such as Saga Hall and the Roark-Cole-Tresor Research Station. Vizsla rushed to prepare their response to the attack as Deathwatch hurried back to Zsoldos and Opress joined in the attack.

The Instigator, like the rest of the Ascendant Fleet, was called to combat the threat of the Collective. Like all Ascendant Fleet ships, she had been actively engaged in the defense of the Aliso System. It served Clan Plagueis loyally in the Ascendant Fleet for years. However, in 40 ABY, during the Fifteenth Great Jedi War, it was destroyed by The Children of Mortis.
