Formerly known as the Cestus Complex when House Cestus used it as their headquarters, The Corsair Facility is the home to the Yridian Military Academy at Corsair Facility.
The Original Complex
Located on Koros, the Cestus Complex was the home of House Cestus. The Cestus Complex was constructed in a series of natural, underground tunnels, which led to a rather large cavern. Portions of the base had been mined out, leading off from the main cavern. The main training grounds of Cestus were on the surface, in a bowl-shaped valley, where the warriors of Cestus honed their skills. The young recruits of Cestus were trained underground, where they were prepared to train in the rigors of the moon's surface when they had attained the proper rank. The base was all but completely destroyed during an outbreak of Aptrgangr which occurred following the Fifth Great Jedi War.
The VSD Corsair
Past
The Corsair once served as the central component in Tarentum's entire force. Major operations heavily involved the Corsair and her complement of fighters and troops. The Corsair was the flagship of Battlegroup Kraken. This battlegroup normally consisted of the VSD Corsair, the ESC Anubis, GSP Havoc and VAC Necrosis. Won by House Tarentum as a prize for its victory in the very first House Wars, the ship was christened the "Corsair" by Zero in a tribute to the pirates that once sailed the seas of Yridia II epoch ago.
Present
Recently, the Complex was finally destroyed during a rescue operation involving certain members of the Clan having crash-landed on the surface of Koros. During the operation, the Corsair was implanted into the surface of the moon directly over the old Complex. The wreckage of the Corsair (now repaired) serves as the home for the Yridian Military Academy at Corsair Facility and also serves as a replacement for the Aegis. Though no longer space-worthy, the old ship will continue to serve the Clan for many years to come.
Layout and Changes to the VSD Corsair
Although the brunt of the impact was absorbed by Trevarus Caerick, the Corsair suffered moderate damage upon its crash landing, rendering parts of the ship unusable for its originally intended purposes. The quarters near the bow of the ship are crumpled onto themselves, leaving the rooms uninhabitable. Many others areas of the ship suffered minor damage, though most of it has been repaired to normal operations over time. All electrical and computer systems have been repaired and are fully operational. The computers operate as they would on a space-bound star craft, as the optical and environmental information they can provide is still of value to the House. All weapon systems remain intact and able to defend the ship. Electrical items such as automatically opening doors, lighting, and audio systems are fully functional.
Lower Decks (Deck 80-60)
Most of the lower decks were repaired and repressurised; however, the lowest two decks have been left alone as they were to serve as a zero-G training environment for elite members of the Clan’s military who specialise in space-borne assaults. It should be noted that due to the angle of descent, the port side of the cruiser is embedded within the crust of the moon, whereas the starboard side is pointed up towards space. This allows for a varied training environment such as exiting ships through hull breaches and abseiling techniques.
Of the decks that were repaired, two were designated aeroponic bays to provide for the Academy without having to rely on imports from Yridia II. This is an effective mode of sustainability as it renders a siege of the complex moot. These two decks can produce approximately 10,000 kilograms of various foodstuffs per annum, ranging from fresh vegetables and fruit to protein rich algae exported from Yridia II - which also has anti-microbial and limited cell regenerative properties that can, in times of need, be used to supplement the medical supplies present in the base.
The remainder of the lower decks are turned over to the non-Tarenti indigenous workers whom the Clan employs to carry out routine maintenance, agricultural work and other essential work.
The large hanger and other smaller hanger bays are located in this section of the ship.
Mid decks (59-40)
All the decks from 50 downwards have been converted into shooting ranges, close quarters battle simulators, various electronic simulator rooms, and even an arboreal botanic garden for survival training.
Above the training halls lie the barracks for the Tarenti military garrison, comprised of two companies of the Tarenti army - one being B company of the 1st Division’s Special Forces battalion, and the second being a company of engineers from the 8th Engineers 4th Brigade 1st Division. The presence of both companies is welcomed by the Cestians, as it allows for an extra defensive layer should the facility fall under attack. Other than that, the engineers are under orders to destroy as much of the base as possible should it be on the cusp of falling into enemy hands.
Upper Decks (39-16)
The upper decks are comprised of sprawling libraries containing books, scrolls, and electronic information gathered from across the galaxy on every conceivable topic. The Holonet news is pumped through into each computer terminal to keep the Academy apprised of intergalactic developments. Plush quarters take up three decks, with enough space to cater for a hundred individuals in exquisite comfort. A large mess hall can be found on deck 22, serving meals three times a day. Several gyms are dotted among the habitation decks. To help its members relax, and in contrast to military law, a single bar has been opened on deck 19 (simply named Club 19) and is open to all. The range of alcoholic beverages is extensive.
Command Superstructure (15-1)
Five decks in the command zone have been turned over to the intelligence community that monitors both local space (Yridia) and the wider galaxy.
A secure deck has been formed to house any prisoners that might be captured, the deck consists of ten high security cells and twenty low security cells. Access to the deck is through one point only - floors and ceilings have been reinforced to prevent escape via removal of deck plates. Present on this deck is also an interrogation chamber with access to droids, drugs, and those well versed in the art of extracting confessions.
The bridge is the crown of this section of the ship and has been overhauled extensively. It now functions as a replacement for the destroyed Aegis platform, logging and directing traffic on route to Yridia II
Renovations
General Renovation
Most of the ship retains its original functionality, though much of it has changed appearance and/or sizing due to repairs made over time. Personnel quarters have been expanded or downsized to reflect the status of those who are intended to inhabit them. Medical facilities have been upgraded to rival city-bound hospitals in technology and ability to serve large amounts of patients. Deck 60 has been redone to resemble a cityscape, complete with taverns, groceries, barbers, and other businesses and services one might find in any medium-sized city to accommodate the multitude of workers that crawl the ship like so many ants.
The Bridge
The bridge, though not damaged in the crash, cannot serve its original purpose as the Corsair is no longer space-worthy. Formerly used by the Cestus summit as their headquarters, the bridge has been renovated a second time to serve its purpose in directing the flow of traffic throughout the Yridian system.
Docking and Hangar Bays
The docking bays remained intact after the crash, and remain used for that purpose. The hangar bays have been remodeled to serve several purposes. They serve somewhat as a landing area for ships, some have had the TIE racks removed and replaced with research laboratories and medical bays.Other areas have been turned into training facilities, large meeting and audience rooms, large storage bays, emergency barracks and/or infirmaries, and repair depots.
