DJBWiki:Featured article

From Wikipedia of the Dark Brotherhood, an online Star Wars Club

The featured articles of the wiki are articles that represent the best DJBWiki has to offer. This is not a way to showcase the articles of your favorite characters, spaceships, or the like.

So just what makes a featured article? Well, we've prepared a list just in case someone should ask that, and it is as follows.

An article must…

  1. …be well written and detailed
  2. …be unbiased, non-point of view
  3. …not be the object of any ongoing edit wars
  4. …not be tagged with any sort of improvement tags (i.e. more sources, expand, etc)
  5. …have a succinct proper lead that can be used for the front page featured box
  6. …have a reasonable amount of red links; use common sense
  7. …have a complete, detailed biography if it's a character article
  8. …not have been previously featured

For more information on what makes a featured article, see Wikipedia:What is a featured article.

How to nominate:

  1. First, nominate an article you find is worthy of featured status, putting it at the bottom of the list below; see criteria above.
  2. Others will object to the nomination if they disagree that the article is good enough; they will then supply reasons for doing so, and ways to improve the article (errors, style, organization, images, notability, sources).
  3. Supporters adjust the article until the objectors (with reasonable objections) are satisfied.
  4. The article is placed on the featured article list and added to the front page queue.
  5. Also, if, at least a week after the article's nomination, that article has 5 supports and no objections, it will be added the queue, and will be officially known as a "featured article".

How to vote:

  1. Before doing anything, be sure to read the article completely, keeping a sharp eye out for mistakes.
  2. Afterwards, compare the article to the criteria listed above, and then either support or object the article's nomination.
    1. If you object, please supply concrete reasons for doing so, and how it can be improved.
  3. As stated above, any objections will be looked upon by the nominator, supporters, and anyone willing to improve the article, and action will be taken to please the objectors.
  4. Once all objectors' complaints have been solved (or the article has 5 supports and no objections after at least a week), the article will be added to the queue and be officially known as a "featured article".

Also remember to add {{nominated}} at the top of the article you are nominating.

Every Sunday the next article in the queue will be highlighted on the Main Page as featured, marked with the {{featured}} template and removed from the list of nominations. The beginning of the article then appears on the Main Page via the {{featured article}} template. Nominees that are inactive for a month will be eliminated from the nominations list.

Featured article nominations

List an article and leave your signature for the nomination(s) - additional comments beyond support or object (unless you have concrete reasons as to why you object) are not required and will be deleted.

Nominated by --Drodik 07:21, 20 February 2007 (Central Standard Time)

  • Weak Support - Vladimir 09:17, 27 February 2007 (MST)
  • Support - Nice article and an interesting read, but could do with fleshing out at the end as it sort of trails off - Kieran 22:17, 16 April 2007 (GMT)
  • Weak Support Aabs 11:40, 20 April 2007 (MDT)
  • Weak Object - Nice, but needs a good opening paragraph to be used for the main page featured article section. Basically a summary of the character (a paragraph or so). --Shadow Taldrya 20:47, 18 September 2007 (MDT)
  • Weak Object - Same as Shadow, having the opening paragraph is requirement #5 there for an article to be even considered for featured status. - Slagar 16:16, 8 October 2007 (MDT) (Update: Alright, I added an opening Paragraph, its not long but it works out.- Drodik)

VSDI Covenant

Nominated by --Macron 21:17, 15 Oct '07 (EST)

  • Object - While nice to have a ship have some history, this article is just too short/small to be "featured." - Vladimir 20:43, 15 October 2007 (MDT)
  • Strong Object - I don't think the article has enough content to be featured. Perhaps you could give us some information on the NPCs that command the ship. -- RevengeX Palpatine 20:46, 15 October 2007 (MDT)
  • Object - Similar standards should be kept for featured articles, no matter the "type". I'm all for having different types of articles, but I lot more content and detail would be needed for this article to meet the necessary standards--Halcyon 21:27, 15 October 2007 (MDT)
  • Weak Object - Not the worst article, but just not featured quality I don't think. Plus, there is no intro summary at the top --Aabs 17:21, 16 October 2007 (MDT)

CTF Primer

Nominated by --Duga Taldrya Arkarso 16:27, 16 October 2007 (MDT)

  • Support - Something a little different, while still being very detailed. Solid article overall--Halcyon 16:38, 16 October 2007 (MDT)
  • Weak Object - It's long and needs more pictures. As I said in the talk page, add some screenies in there. Do that, and I'll support --Aabs 17:21, 16 October 2007 (MDT)
  • Support - CTF Primer, yay! While screenshots may be helpful to some people, I don't think they're absolutely necessary. -- RevengeX Palpatine 19:20, 16 October 2007 (MDT)
  • Strong Support - There are very few articles on the Wiki that can actually make you a better gamer. The CTF Primer is the best of them. This took me from being a crappy player to being probably the second-best runner behind Shadow and a damn good Defensive player. Everyone needs to read this article if they play JO. It helps even in regular matches.--Jac Cotelin
