Four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin, the system of the Empress Teta was ruled by a decadent government, corrupt, fat and bloated by the weight of the years and the heavy perfumes of wealth, power and crime. In a climate of ceaseless wealth and pampering, young nobles grew bored and jaded, and sought new diversions for their tastes and lusts.

On the world of Cinnagar, one such noble had been born, the son of the system governor, one Satal Keto, heir to the rulership of Empress Teta. Strong, clever and charismatic, Satal grew bored like his colleagues, and so, in the company of his cousin, Aleema, began to dabble in the fragments and scraps of old Sith magic to alleviate the tedium.

Yet the faint echoes of power with which they toyed held promises of greater power, better things, and they found that even their novice abilities could have a profound effect on others not so skilled.  Seeing this, their interest in the magic waxed, and spurred by the possibilities it held, Satal contrived to steal an ancient tome of Sith secrets.

With the help of Aleema, their plan succeeded, but reaped little reward.  The tome was unreadable, written in the ancient tongue of the Sith.  Angered but not discouraged, Satal and Aleema Keto followed rumours of Sith practitioners to find one who could translate the tome for them.  Using their money, wealth and growing Dark Side skills, they eventually made their way to Onderon and the court of King Ommin.

===Sith Acolytes===

Already consumed by the Dark Side, King Ommin was delighted to assist the young Sith Acolytes, and set his foremost minds to work translating the text they had brought him, gifting Satal with a Sith amulet as part of the bargain.  Unknown to Satal and Aleema, however, the Dark Side Avatar of Freedon Nadd, Ommin’s own genetic ancestor, had been assisting the King in his studies, but when the pair arrived, Nadd saw in them greater potential to resurrect the golden age of the Sith, and abandoned his descendant.

The spirit appeared before the pair, and offered to guide them in their rise to power.  Spurred onwards by this, Satal extracted a wealth of Sith artefacts from Onderon and its infamous moon, Dxun, and returned with Aleema to the Empress Teta system even as Ullic Qel-Droma and his band of Jedi Knights arrived to settle a border dispute that would ultimately lead to the death of King Ommin.

===The Rise of the Krath===

With the artefacts and newly translated Sith tome in hand, Satal and Aleema grew tremendously in Dark Side power, and led a rebellion in the Empress Teta system that resulted in the death of Satal’s parents and his placement as ruler of the system.  The christened themselves the Krath, named for an ancient Sith God of knowledge and wisdom, and together, Satal and Aleema spread fear and suffering through Empress Teta as the inhabited planets rebelled to throw of their tyranny, all the while watching their Dark Side might skyrocket, and their magic became the most formidable seen since the golden ages of the Sith, and perhaps even before.

Republic forces, with the aide of Ullic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider, tried in vein to put an end to the violence, only to be confounded and stopped by Aleema’s powerful Sith illusions.  At last, sensing that this was a darkness that could not be simply smashed as had been done to Ommin and Nadd, Ullic announced to the Jedi Council that he would enter the ranks of the Krath to attempt to destroy them from within.

Counselled against such action, the headstrong Qel-Droma went on with his plan regardless, believing himself safe from the effects of the Dark Side and its temptations; thinking that were he to come to understand the Krath, he would then know the best way to destroy them.

===The Fall of Keto===

He entered their number as a fallen Jedi Knight, and made his way to Satal and Aleema’s stronghold in the city of Cinnagar.  As he arrived, an assassin seemed to threaten Aleema Keto’s life, and seeing his chance, Ullic intervened to save her.  Impressed by his bravery, Aleema accepted Ullic into the Krath, much to the scorn of her cousin.  Satal did not trust Qel-Droma, and had the Jedi Knight tortured to make him confess the truth.

Yet, Ullic did not surrender, though the dark Sith poisons clouded his mind, and Aleema mocked Satal, appointing Ullic general of their armies and a High Priest in his own right.  She took him as a lover and pet, blinded by her passions, so that when Satal finally discovered Ullic’s duplicity, the two fought, and Aleema chose to side with Qel-Droma.

That day, Satal Keto fell, and Ullic assumed his place, completing his journey to the Dark Side.  In the end, however, Aleema met her own deserved fate.  Tricked by Exar Kun and Ullic, whom had become the Dark Lord’s Apprentice, she activated a great spell that tore the very heart of a sun from its confines.  Her spell went awry, and consumed her even as the Krath succeeded in her goal – she destroyed every star in the Cron cluster.

Named after the Krath Lord Satal Keto, Clan Satal Keto was once one of seven clans in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood until it was merged with Clan Exar Kun to form Clan Plagueis. It was subsequently divided into houses Aleema, Kirleta, and Galthain.

History

As the Emperor's Hammer grew in size and strength, an increasing number of Krath followers started requesting their own Clan to live in where they could pursue their philosophical paths without interruption from the Obelisk or Sith. They were granted their request, and Clan Satal Keto was formed. The Clan existed for approximately eight years, growing until it was a dominant Clan in the Emperor's Hammer. When the Exodus occurred, Clan Satal Keto was severely weakened.

The Clan survived for another four years, though their remaining strength constantly ebbed. After one particular war, the Clan was irrevocably weakened. It was then that the Crimson Tide, having been hired by an unknown individual, attacked Clan Satal Keto. The two factions battled for four brutal days. Just as the Crimson Tide was beginning to gain the upper hand, Consul Selket requested aide from Keto's sister Clan, Clan Exar Kun.

Chi-Long answered the call, and for another three days the now allied clans fought against the Tide, until eventually victory was theirs. The battle had left them weakened, however, and they were now close to death. Intervening, the Star Chamber decided to merge the two into one Clan, and with the Dictum of Two Skies, Clan Satal Keto ended, and Clan Plagueis was formed.
