They mostly focused around "primitive" survival that was "barbaric" at best considering the technology available, but it has saved him several times. Along with that he was trained to survive in almost every possible biome known to the Iron Legion, minus the vacuum of space, while he was undergoing his Special Forces training. This has made him into someone who can be dropped off into the middle of nowhere, with nothing, and still be able to survive.
