DJBWiki:Featured article

From Wikipedia of the Dark Brotherhood, an online Star Wars Club

The featured articles of the wiki are articles that represent the best DJBWiki has to offer. This is not a way to showcase the articles of your favorite characters, spaceships, or the like.

Potential Featured Articles

List an article and note any fixes that would need to be made by the creator before it can become a Featured Article. After adding the article to the list, contact the creator and notify him/her that their article has the potential to be Featured with some minor tweaks.

  1. Vodo Biask Taldrya is a nice page, but has some issues with formatting and content like Trivia and DJB facts/achievements that do not meet the current standard for a Featured Article - Bentre Stahoes (talk) 23:37, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
  2. Reiden is a decent example of a Wiki article. - Bentre Stahoes (talk) 23:37, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
    1. CON: but has a lack of linking/interlinking and the presence of the now-outmoded DJB trivia/facts section that need to be addressed before it can be considered more seriously for Featured status. - Bentre Stahoes (talk) 23:37, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
  3. Lucyeth is not a bad example of a a potential Featured Page. The big outstanding issue are the three sections that are literal lists. If these can be turned into paragraphs or otherwise integrated into the article, it would be pretty pretty much golden. If there are any other questions, feel free to contact me via email or Telegram. - Bentre Stahoes (talk) 02:31, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
  4. Khryso Mallus is a good example of a featured page; it just might need some more images. - Ronovi
    1. I will second this if the condition is met there be an addition of images that further enhance the page. Would not have to be too many, I think. If there are questions, just as here or in PM. - Bentre Sadow (talk) 11:27, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
  5. Wrathus - Ronovi
    1. A couple of issues I see here. First: it has both a DJB facts and a Trivia section. In order to be Featured the page would need to either omit these sections or integrate them into the larger page. If you want any assistance with this, I will be glad to advise as I would for anyone. - Bentre Sadow (talk) 11:22, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
    2. The Wrathus IRL section really would be something expected to be on the user:Wrathus page than his character's page. At least if it is to be featured. - Bentre Sadow (talk) 11:22, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
  6. Shadow Nighthunter
    1. Fold your Trivia or integrate it into your larger page, and then you should be rather golden - Bentre Sadow (talk) 12:41, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Process

So just what makes a featured article? Well, we've prepared a list just in case someone should ask that, and it is as follows.

An article must…

  1. …be well written and detailed.
  2. …be written from an unbiased, third-person, objective point of view.
  3. …have a complete, detailed biography if the page concerned is a character article.
  4. …have a succinct and appropriate lead that can be used for the front page featured box.
  5. ...have a properly applied Eras Template at the top of the page where applicable.
  6. …not be the object of any ongoing edit wars.
  7. …not be tagged with any sort of improvement tags (i.e. more sources, expand, etc)
  8. …not contain an unreasonable number (use common sense) of red links.
  9. …not have been previously featured.
  10. ...not contain a trivia section comprised of a random assortment of miscellaneous facts. See the corresponding article on Trivia for more details.

How to nominate:

  1. First, nominate an article you find is worthy of featured status, putting it at the bottom of the list below; see criteria above.
  2. Others will object to the nomination if they disagree that the article is good enough; they will then supply reasons for doing so, and ways to improve the article (errors, style, organization, images, notability, sources).
  3. Supporters adjust the article until the objectors (with reasonable objections) are satisfied.
  4. The article is placed on the featured article list and added to the front page queue.
  5. Also, if, at least two week after the article's nomination, that article has 5 supports and no objections, it will be added the queue, and will be officially known as a "featured article".

How to vote:

  1. Before doing anything, be sure to read the article completely, keeping a sharp eye out for mistakes.
  2. Afterwards, compare the article to the criteria listed above, and then either support or object the article's nomination.
    1. If you object, please supply concrete reasons for doing so, and how it can be improved.
  3. As stated above, any objections will be looked upon by the nominator, supporters, and anyone willing to improve the article, and action will be taken to please the objectors.
  4. Once all objectors' complaints have been solved (or the article has 5 supports and no objections after at least a week), the article will be added to the queue and be officially known as a "featured article".

Also remember to add {{Nominated}} at the top of the article you are nominating.

Every month the next article in the queue will be highlighted on the Main Page as featured, marked with a Featured icon and removed from the list of nominations. The beginning of the article then appears on the Main Page via the {{Featured article}} template. Nominees that are inactive for a month will be eliminated from the nominations list.
