Tanduran City or simply Tanduran is a settlement on the continent of Milil'ea, located on the planet of New Tython. Originally a colony of ranches and farmsteads settled by the Tythonian colonists of the planet, Tanduran has grown since the Fall of New Tython to become the planet's manufacturing hub. It is comprised of two portions - a walled inner city, largely constructed and bolstered during the occupation, and a widespread series of farmsteads and ranches in the surrounding veldt. It prospered following the liberation of the world, becoming a trade and production hub for the entire planet.
History
Colonial Establishment
Originally called the Tanduran Hospice, the settlement that would become a small city began when a number of colonist families - mostly human - settled on New Tython in 12 ABY on plots of land nearby one another. Developing ties with one another, they established trails and pathways to interact with one another, trading their goods. Eventually, entrepreneurial colonists set up some simple shops in a central hub, allowing trade to become set and the conglomeration to form a proper colony.
Spreading quickly, patches of the colonists began to come under attack as they overtook land populated by Harakoan tribesmen, and began driving off wildlife that the tribes hunted for food. The Harakoans, many of them angry and quick to violence against what they percieved as invaders, were quick to strike back against the colonists. This violence would lead to a new kind of trade - the import of weapons - into Tanduran households, and the general fortification of the settlement. Short walls, moats, and trenches were constructed, alongside a watchtower.
Attacks and retaliation between Tythonian and Harakoan would go on in the fields of Tanduran until the intervention of the Jedi in 15 ABY, who were able to mediate the conflict, establish a settlement, and even open a school to Harakoans on Tanduran land. This smoothed things over considerably over time, and while conflict would go on between the groups, the school allowed Harakoans to converse and trade with the colonists - and gave the colonists the ability to learn Harakose, and thereby establish relations with the natives.
Over time, Tanduran would become more peaceful and prosperous, even trading with the tribes until the Fall of New Tython at the dawn of 37 ABY.
Thuronian Expansion
Cy Thuron and his mercenary forces swept the planet of New Tython in 37 ABY, striking the Harakoan tribes by surprise with scorched-earth tactics and going on to subjugate the capital city of Menat Ombo. Afterward, he dispatched forces of his newly-formed Thuron Monarchy to subjugate the colonies, nearly all of whom surrendered without much of a fight. The lone exception, the colony of Varri'alis, refused subjugation and were exterminated to the last. This led the people of Tanduran, though fortified, to surrender their arms and accept monarchy rule.
Expansion of the colony was swift; those who stood against Thuronian seizures of territory were shot or, in particularly terrifying cases, sent with their families to Purity Rock. Resistance did not last long in these conditions, and what had been a small collection of colonist stores and farms quickly saw heavy construction.
Using credits from mysterious, black market sources and unnatural influence over galactic corporate groups, Thuron was able to demolish and replace much of Tanduran. Small houses became joined or replaced by many closely-built homes, built to house a workforce, while barracks and vehicle garages joined factories and production centers. Portions of the land nearby were quarried and mined, with what mineral wealth there was imported to Tanduran for production of weaponry and supplies. This central area, which would become known as the Inner City, saw the construction of a wall around its perimeter as well as the emplacement of turrets, anti-air batteries, and a shield generator that would keep out bombardment from air or space. This was done on the orders of General Mirr, who was willing to take no chances.
A huge force was garrisoned at Tanduran, determined to protect the beating heart of Cy's war machine. It would see action in 38 ABY, when the Jedi of Odan-Urr returned to the world with the bolstered Kotahitanga-Unity Defense Force.
Liberation
After the fall of the Dac Compound, Mirr ordered the forces of the city to deploy in defensive positions throughout the veldt, many forces digging trenches, constructing obstacles, and laying minefields to keep out the Jedi advance. With the shield generator activated and the city vital to the planet's liberation, the Jedi were forced to engage in a huge battle in the fields of Tanduran. Using the cover of this conflict, the Jedi sent in Strike Team Ooroo and a small force of soldiers to infiltrate the city, using their lightsabers to breach the wall at key points and slip inside. Once there, they were able to drop the shields within the city and open it for aerial insertion and assault.
The fall of the city came quickly, as concentrated Jedi units within crippled countermeasures and KUDF forces were able to circumnavigate the forces outside of the city. With the former enemy fortress now captured and fortified against them, and with the Jedi bombing with impunity, the mercenary forces of the monarchy surrendered or scattered with little resistance. Tanduran was free again.
Though its fields and surrounding areas would show the scars of war for years to come, the inner city of Tanduran took very little damage in the fighting; aside from a few defensive systems, a few buildings, and the shield generator, the city was largely intact. Unifying under the Tythonian Colonial Alliance alongside the other human-majority colonies, Tanduran saw an interim government formed to safeguard the town until elections could take place.
