- "Fear not the light, the dark, the in-between; fear instead that which is unknown in yourself. "
- ― Syntari Bastiayn
Hehe...well.
Think you know her, don't you? Bet you've even seen her around: the Bpfasshi hybrid with the silver-green eyes, a perfect mix between temperment and calculation? Oh, c'mon you know the one. Arrogant smirk, unafraid to use her charms (what ones she has) as a means to an end?
Now you remember, don't you? Thought so.
Here's the thing. Young, frighteningly beautiful, Syntari Bastiayn isn't what you'd expect. How much of the outer shell is real?
History's Blind-spot
It is impossible to document a past that cannot be recalled, as our mutt has learned. As an undiagnosed schizophrenic, she unfortunately experienced most of her life while locked in hallucinations and pursued by delusions. As a result, most--if not all of--her past is a mystery.
Bit by bit she has begun to piece together the shattered remains of her life. She was born on Bpfasshi to an Umbaran mother belonging to the upper class, though the child was soon abandoned to die on the backwater world of Nar Shaddaa. Found and cared for by an anonymous benefactor, she soon befriended fellow orphan Cyril Omega, the Zeltron who would later be known as Cyril Nighthunter. The former Sadowan now appears as a hallucination functioning as an extension of Syntari's conscience.
The more she uncovers the more -or is that less?- she will reveal.
I guess you know her, don'tcha?
A Krath well-versed in the art of deceptive battle, she devotes the majority of her time to studying in the Shadow Academy halls...though what she researches, no one knows.
Quick of wit and highly intelligent, she often comes across as arrogant and selfish in her interactions with others, though those are few and far between. The truth behind this? She is obsessed with sociology and views everything as a vast experiment that she is the sole designer of.
Despite these shortcomings, Syntari is more than she appears to be. Once she brings you in to her inner circle it is discovered that she is very steadfast and quite loyal, and she stands up for anyone she sees as lower or weaker than herself. The more friends she makes, the more shall be revealed.
Hallucinations and delusions of grandeur abound, apparently. Throw in there delusions of persecution and an elaborate fantasy world that hasn't yet consumed her mind, and the Brotherhood has one insane individual wandering about. The number of hallucinations are unknown, though the main seven have been identified, cataloged, and noted--more on that later.
Lucky for everyone, while there isn't a cure to her madness, there is a light gleaming through the fog of her thoughts: a connection to someone that could set her mind free, though what this means and what the Force has in store for the two of them is unknown.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see, haven't we?
Seven Deadly Ghosts
Syntari has seven main hallucinations, though only two of those have been released to the world at large by our Bpfasshi hybrid. She experiences each, though sometimes more than one at the same time, at different points depending on her mood and the situation and once they appear, they are near impossible to get rid of.
As she acknowledges others, they will appear here.
The first is Cyril Nighthunter, her now-deceased best friend since childhood. Beloved by Syntari even after death, it is therefore of no surprise that the Zeltron appears now as an embodiment of the Knight's conscience, as well as a reminder to never ignore the past.
The second comes in the form of miniature Krayt dragons which possess, of all things, multicolored, pulsating wings. They normally appear when her mind is overburdened or her senses overstimulated and seem to trigger a mass shut down of Syntari's awareness, though the reason for this is unknown.
Wanna know a secret?
Her insanity isn't limited just to hallucinations or delusions. Those who know Syntari are few in number. With the death of Mirus Cavataio that statistic is now frighteningly low. Nonetheless, for the surviving few, her behavior is a mystery.
Sometimes she locks herself away to ride out the storm of her unpredictability where she can do little harm to others.
Sometimes she has the misfortune of being let out of her cage and her experiments get a little out of hand.
Sometimes she stares out at the world and doesn't even say a word.
When finally she reemerges to a semblance of normalcy Syn continues on as if nothing had happened. An even more recent development with an unknown cause is an affliction of night-terrors--however, what that will mean for her is still unknown.
As it turns out...
Syntari hates lightsabres. The quote "objects are an extension of a person" might have something to do with it...but which person is the cause behind this?
The truth is not as grand as alluded to. She does not have a fear of them, and she actually is quite fascinated by this age-old weapon. What makes her hate them is the part of her personality that likes to rebel, and her former mentor's constant insistence that she wield a lightsabre resulted in a refusal on her part to ever build on. Since her promotion to Dark Jedi Knight and the death of her mentor, however, Syntari is more than willing to use a lightsabre and can do so with fatal proficiency.
<- This is a tattoo located on the nape of her neck to represent the number of 'sins', or hallucinations, that are constant in her life.
She is Battle Team Leader of newly-created Devil's Shroud, and has recently been granted to job of M:Voice under Telaris "Mav" Cantor.
