A Brief History
Early Childhood
Hel-Pa Sklib was a Tarasin, no knowledge of his birth place is known. His last conscious memories are from Corellia, the planet in which he grew up starting at early childhood. His adoptive father was a CorSec agent and since Hel-Pa's childhood, he wished he could grow up and be like his father. Much of his childhood was spent on the job with his father within the atmosphere of Corellia, mostly just patrolling the skies and inspecting cargo shipments, nothing very dangerous. At age eight, he learned most of the techniques and tricks of piloting his father's BTL-S3 Lightbringer. Although he had never actually piloted the craft, he still learned most of the controls and functions of the cockpit console.
Since Hel-Pa spent so much time with his father at the CorSec office, he had little free time in his social life. Attending a private day-school in Saigetopia, Hel-Pa had only a handful of friends, and he considered them more acquaintances than friends. By the time his primary school graduation occurred, most of them had left the school to engage in other curriculums pre-determined by their families. Hel-Pa never felt lonely, and enjoyed his time in the cockpit immensely.
Early Adolescence
Secondary School proved to be Hel-Pa's most life-determining experience. He had been sent to a prestigious boarding school in Coronet City, and remained away from his family for extended periods of time. His time spent in his father's Y-Wing was now lost, and most of his hours were spent in his academy's physical training center. Hel-Pa's favorite workouts included swimming and wrestling. After participating in numerous wrestling competitions, Hel-Pa decided that he should pursue his strength as a wrestler and develop his body to better suit those needs. Countless hours were spent in the gym, and Hel-Pa developed astonishing upper and lower body strength.
Sklib soon engaged in fencing, an activity his roommate practiced occasionally. He had a knack for it, and had an uncanny ability to predetermine his opponent's actions subconsciously. He quickly developed into one of the academy's fiercest fighters, and often was disqualified from matches for overly aggressive behavior and unsportsmanlike conduct. Rage had been building inside of him steadily, as most of his peers shunned him from his late entrance into the academy. This sword-fighting proved to be the only effective method of venting for Sklib, and he practiced this method for the duration of his stay at the academy.
The Death of a Loved One
During a routine cargo inspection of a YT-1300 in Coronet City during Sklib's summer vacation, quite a distance from Hel-Pa's home city of Saigetopia, Tarth's corpse was found with several blaster holes in his back, and he was easily pronounced dead. Hel-Pa developed a thirst for revenge against the one who murdered his beloved father. After many useless attempts to look at security tapes and other evidence, no progress was made to discover the killer.
Hel-Pa was 17 years old when his father died. His adolescent mind sought the utter destruction of whoever murdered his father. Now several months since this tragic event, Hel-Pa had a clue on who the murderer was, but refused to believe it. In the mouth of his father's corpse was his mother's favorite cosmetic appliance. Hel-Pa still was not totally convinced it was his mother, but nevertheless he cannot exclude that possibility. He soon gave up on tracking the killer, and stowawayed onto a small vessel called the Ghost. The destination of the ship was unknown, but it was away from Corellia, which is all that mattered to Hel-Pa.
After a rather harsh landing, Hel-Pa emerged from the ship after it had landed for at least an hour. Hel-Pa stepped out onto the landing platform, and saw nothing but barren desert across the landscape. He was unfamiliar with such a planet, and immediately concluded that it was not necessarily the best place to have stowawayed to. The presence of the place made Hel-Pa feel quirky, and he felt a strange sense of control over his environment in the place. Moments later, he felt a jagged disruption in this strange force, and sharply looked behind him to see the owner of the ship, Shadow Taldrya. The mysterious man, who bore a striking resemblance to other Corellians he had known, smirked and motioned for the adolescent to follow him into what looked like a large building.
After a few threatening remarks, the man pointed to a large doorway, with what looked like ancient inscriptions on it. In utter fear, Hel-Pa walked slowly towards the large doorway, and noticed a few others his age, but mostly several years younger than him in appearance. The man who had menacingly met Hel-Pa grunted as Sklib walked away, "You are strong."
The Shadow Academy
Months after his forced entry into the Shadow Academy of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, Hel-Pa still was not satisfied with the planet and had recently realized he was much stronger and had more potential in the Force then the students around him. After many trials and tests, including the Test of Lore, Hel-Pa was recognized as an Apprentice in the Brotherhood, and sent to House Ektrosis of Taldryan to begin his pursuit of ultimate power and knowledge of the Force.
Hel-Pa had chosen the Obelisk order as his order within the Brotherhood, and began enrolling in basic ground combat courses within the Academy. He excelled in said courses, and after a few promotions within his House for dedication to Ektrosis, he passed advanced courses such as Marksmanship and even his Test of Endurance. His skill in these arts proved to be his core, and in the future, his leaders would look to him to use his mastery of combat in many cases.
Beginnings as an Ektrosian
Hel-Pa had just begun venturing into the adult world. His recent promotions in the Brotherhood had wizened him and as Tetrarch of a Battle Team, Hel-Pa handled more responsibility than he ever had in his life. His first "test" as an adult was the Sixth Great Jedi War, where he exemplified all the qualities an Obelisk should show during the Great War at a surprisingly young age.
After only half a year of servitude to House Ektrosis, Sklib was selected by the Summit members to lead the Hex Battle Team after the mysterious disappearance of Raistline Majere. Sklib quickly involved his Battle Team in training exercises, but no real combat situations had come across him. After almost five months as Battle Team Leader, a mysterious artifact was stolen from the Shadow Academy, and Hex was sent to investigate and recover said artifact. This would eventually be found by another, more experienced, group of Dark Jedi, but Hel-Pa still was perturbed by his Battle Team's lacking ability to cohesively work together to achieve a single goal.
Knighthood and the Claw of Dinaari
After spending nearly a year as both Guardian and Jedi Hunter within his clan, Hel-Pa became perturbed by his position as Jedi Hunter, and often was seen in fits of rage, destroying many things in his path, and even nearly slaying a fellow Battle Team member. At the dawn of another year, and after a time of peace within the Brotherhood, Hel-Pa Sklib witnessed the birth of House Archanis within Taldryan. As the House was gathering its roots, Sklib further felt the tensions and stress of his inability to wield the prestigious lightsaber and was often seen having tantrums in his quarters by members of his Clan Summit.
Two events within his Clan altered this current mindset, and Sklib's energy was invigorated. During a Clan Meeting, he was surprisingly awarded the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, with praise from fellow Ektrosians Taku "Crix" Matsuki Taldrya and Alanna Taldrya; even the great clan leader Duga Taldrya Arkarso. During that same meeting, Sklib was given the honor of receiving the Claw of Dinaari. This trophy represented Hel-Pa's great achievements in battle and advanced combat prowess, surely a sign of his great potential as a warrior for Taldryan.
Hel-Pa in Dinaari
Shortly after Hel-Pa's promotion to Knight, he was selected to replace Odium as Dinaari Aedile. Sklib was honored with the position, and was confident he could responsibility and leadership on a greater level than he had with Battle Team Hex in Ektrosis. Under the careful guidance of Erinyes, Hel-Pa would quickly gain necessary skills he would need in upcoming conflicts such as the Rite of Supremacy.
During the Rite, Hel-Pa competed in all aspects for the betterment of Taldryan. His skills on the battlefield, library, debate hall, and tactics coordination center helped his clan greatly. While the Clans awaited decision as to who the 1st Clan of the Brotherhood was, Hel-Pa was made Quaestor only a few months after being names Aedile. The old QUA, Erinyes, transferred to the Rogues and left Taldryan in a mysterious exit, baffling most of the members. Her removal as QUA appeared to have caused traumatic stress, and Hel-Pa would only hope to apply the lessons he had learned from her to his role as leader of House Dinaari.
Nearing the end of 26 ABY, the results of the Rite of Supremacy were released. Clan Taldryan placed first in the event, as per usual, with two of its members in the top two spots. Sklib himself placed 7th out of the entire Brotherhood, and competed in more events than anyone else in the Brotherhood save the former Grand Master Jac Cotelin. Notable members under Sklib's command in Dinaari during the Rite include Jac Cotelin, Syn Kaek, and Vladet Xavier, the future Aedile. Sklib solidified his position as Quaestor, and proved his worth as a capable leader of House Dinaari.
A Lost Brother
Months before the Rite of Supremacy, Hel-Pa had encountered his brother, whom he did not know existed, during an assassination he performed onto two Jedi on the planet Naboo. The two Jedi were his brother's, Rag'Nar, guardians after he had left his home planet of Cularin where his paernts had been killed in a raid. At this point, Hel-Pa's senses were attuned well enough to know that his brother was a capable Dark Jedi just as he was. Sklib demanded that Rag'Nar begin instruction at Lyspair on the Shadow Academy.
Six months later, Rag'Nar made little progress in Tarentum and requested a transfer to Taldryan, where his brother was now the Quaestor of House Dinaari. He made the transfer, and currently is now developing his combat skills in the Antei Combat Center with fellow Clanmates, and expanding his knowledge of the Brotherhood with his envoy's. Hel-Pa has no real emotional bond with his brother, being that they had been seperated for the duration of Hel-Pa's life. Rag'Nar has attempted to teach Hel-Pa the traditional Tarasin skin-color language the species holds, but with the many responsibilities as Quaestor and preperations for what appeared to be an upcoming Great Jedi War, he has learned only the basics.
Return to Ektrosis, The Great Jedi War Begins
After a series of leadership changes, specifically Chaosrain's appointment to Proconsul, Hel-Pa was asked by the Clan Summit to return to Ektrosis and lead his original house. Around the same time, the Knight was appointed to Templar, the first Equite rank of the Obelisk order. New powers were gained through his more extensive knowledge in the Force, and his fighting ability increased greatly. Hel-Pa was now a dedicated warrior, leader, and brother of the great Clan Taldryan. The Templar chose his old and reliable friend, Vodo Biask to be his assistant and Aedile, which the Knight graciously accepted. The two worked together organizing their plans for the House, but most importantly preparing for an inevitable civil war in the Brotherhood, much like the one two years past.
Immediately following the Rite of Supremacy awards ceremony, the invasion force, who would later be identified as the Yuuzhan Vong, destroyed numerous Brotherhood ships, including Taldryan's flagship, the Dark Prophet. Hel-Pa took the Chupacabra, and the other A-Wings in Taldryan, and met the enemy fighters head on along with Taku "Crix" Matsuki. Due to Hel-Pa's shoddy piloting, he was forced to eject from the Chupacabra and was taken by Telaris "Mav" Cantor back to the Katarn. The Taldryan forces withdrew from the battlefield and into the Shroud shortly after Crix's death, a devastating blow to the Clan's morale. Hel-Pa then met a Twi'lek known as Ariel, one of the Krath Priest's assistants on the planet of Karufr. Sklib had organized and maintained the research of the ruins of ancient Sith Lords on the planet, and later found out the Priests were using their knowledge for their own good as opposed to that of the House and Clan. The Quaestor promptly ordered them executed, ordering his own assistant on at the nearby shuttleport to kill them in their sleep.
Sklib later learned from Ariel about the Priest's weird dealings at the ruins, and grew an attraction to the stunning Twi'lek over his correspondence with her as she stayed with him on the Praetorian, the ship he was granted control during the mess the Vong had created. While they never had time for an "affair" of any type with the War going on, it was clearly obvious that the two shared the same feelings toward each other. On the Third Day of the attack, Hel-Pa and Ariel finally spent time together, while only briefly. Their retreat into the Shroud left the Vong mostly at bay, and the Taldryan forces were relatively untouched by Vong fighters in the Shroud, and even other Clans.
Personality
Hel-Pa is generally a mild-mannered individual, preferring to observe the actions of others rather than engage with them. Sklib is generally patient with members of the Brotherhood he is frustrated with, avoiding them if possible. He is quick to relieve himself of work and bestow it upon others, making him reasonably lazy. Sklib often jokes with others, but in a private way. He is generally respectful of other members, but becomes frustrated with members he believes are not worth his time and patience.
Like most Tarasin, Hel-Pa has a strong sense of community. He is typically calm in his demeanor, and expresses a strong sense of curiosity for things unfamiliar to him. He rarely becomes violently angry unless his House or Clan are threatened. He fiercely protects his House and Clan, and has proven to be a vindictive warrior of the Clan because of his efforts to preserve and protect the community of Dark Jedi he has grown to love.
Physical Characteristics
Hel-Pa stands around 1.65 meters tall, a fairly average height for a member of his species. His bodies are covered with translucent scales, which are above a layer of skin that can change color at his own will. Unfortunately, the skin can turn different colors according to the Tarasin's emotional state, and can hinder their attempts to conceal emotion. The Templar has black eyes, a trait common with most of his species. A "fan" of thin, scaly flesh spreads out of the species' head when they are frightened or angered. Hel-Pa has used this to advantage many times, using the "fan" to intimidate others during battle, and especially strike fear to an enemy in a duel. This technique has proven to be effective particularly with members of lower rank or non-Force Sensitive beings.
Artifacts
Hel-Pa Sklib has many possessions which display his attitudes and mannerisms. The choice of robes, lightsaber, and warbanner best display this.
Lightsaber
Hel-Pa has created a lightsaber using a Lion's Claw Hilt after his promotion to Dark Jedi Knight, a new style recently issued by the Herald's Office. Hel-Pa preferred the jagged grip due to its traction and inability to easily slide away from a perspiring hand amidst a tense duel between a rival or enemy. The purple blade is just a color preference by Sklib, and bears no meaning of heightened skill or anything of the sort. He is also a master of Makashi, and few parallel his skill in the deadly duelist's form. Sklib appreciates the art of dueling as opposed to massive slaughter of enemies without sabers, and the emphasis of speed and intelligence making Makashi a perfect form for Hel-Pa to practice. The style has allowed him to defeat many opposing Jedi in his path, and his great skill has saved his life countless times. This form combined with Dark Jedi Knight Vodo Biask's mastered Soresu skills made them an almost unstoppable force inside the great Battle Team Hex.
Once Sklib entered the ranks of the Equite, he was allowed to craft a new lightsaber more appropriate for his lightsaber style, the "Duelist's" form. The curved hilt he crafted allowed for a more ergonomic fit in his hand, and traditionally was used with the Makashi lightsaber style. The purple blade still remains, and Sklib plan's on continuing this theme as long as he wields a saber.
Robes
With the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, many new robe options are available for a Dark Jedi. Sklib chose the stormtrooper armor because of its added armor for use in battle, but a few months after his promotion decided it just wasn't for him. The armor was not needed at all times, and was quite uncomfortable when in just a casual setting. Hel-Pa bore traditional Knight robes, but he now wears the Eradicator robes with Obelisk trim granted to him at Templar.
Warbanner
Prior to Knighthood, Hel-Pa's warbanner was blue and depicted a wolf, his favorite animal. Now it is yellowish-orange and depicts a deathbat. The deathbat is a symbol of well... death. Sklib's latest warbanner has the Taldryan crest with medallion at the top, only awarded to the QUA and AED of a house. The deathbat has become the symbol of his family, and both Hel-Pa and Rag'Nar bear a tatoo of the symbol on their right arms.
Personal Ship/Vehicle
Since his upbringing in Clan Taldryan, and his service as Quaestor of House Dinaari, Hel-Pa purchased an RZ-1 A-wing Interceptor, the Chupacabra. While on unofficial business, Hel-Pa uses this ship for personal errands, never for Clan and House affairs. The Chupacabra was one of the fastest ships in the fleet, and can be recognized because of its paint job similair to Anakin Skywalker's Azure Angel. Unfortunately, during the first battle of the Seventh Great Jedi War, the ship was destroyed and Hel-Pa forced to eject. Sklib is looking into purchasing a new A-Wing, and donning it the Chupacabra II in honor of his first fighter.
When on the ground, his preferred combat zone, Hel-Pa owns and operates a Aratech 64-Y Swift 3 Repulsor Sled. This craft reaches speeds of up to 800 km/h, and has both a cannon and drop net for snaring enemies in their tracks. He plans to decorate the vehicle in the near future, but it is currently painted standard Imperial Gray at the moment.
