Holocron of Vengeance

Appearance

Adhering to tradition of Sith holocrons, the Holocron of Vengeance appears as a four sided pyramid that could easily be held in a Human's hand. The crystal lattice - which held powerful knowledge of Sith techniques - was crafted from fragile crystal shards, fused with precious metals in an intricate design that belayed power and awe. Carbon dating of the crystal suggests the device was crafted during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Meaning the gold-outlined, light-refracting ruby tint with black lettering etched upon the device may have occurred as recently as 2 BBY.

Function

A technology believed to be handed down from the Ancient Sith Ruler Adas - by means of the Rakata's Infinite Empire - to the present Dark Lord of the Sith, the holocron is an invaluable tool. Once properly assembled, the device recorded the physical and mental characteristics of the holocron's owner; forging a gatekeeper, or guide, through the library of information: history, technique, philosophy and application. Once a Force-sensitive individual came in possession of a holocron, the gatekeeper would appear as a three-dimensional, interactive persona to the vault of information; able to quickly recover necessary information, or dictations, depending - in some cases - on the potential of the User. With the proper amount of power and discipline, one could tap into the vast deposit of knowledge.

History

Adhering to Bane's "Rule of Two," Lords Sidious & Vader stood vigilant as the Dark Lords of the Sith; however, they were not the only Force-sensitive individuals of the Galactic Empire. Those whom were trained in the Dark Side, and in Imperial Service, were labeled as Dark Side Adepts. The exact number is unknown, but it is believed that many of these bureaucrats existed to serve the Emperor's will.

One such Adept served faithfully at the Reborn Emperor's side during their occupation of Byss, storing the knowledge granted to him from the Dark Lord in a personal holocron. It is believed the holocron passed from the unknown Adept - whom could presumably be the holocron's gatekeeper - to Kane Vader, before it was passed down from Grand Master to Grand Master. Eventually, the knowledge had become less potent as the Grand Masters trained the Brotherhood in pursuit of the Final Way; however, one the holocron housed one remaining secret: the creation of Imperial Sentinels.

Satisfied that the holocron held no additional knowledge, Sarin gifted the crystal lattice to the Clan whom worshiped Emperor Palpatine: Scholae Palatinae. For he knew their history, that their origin was once based in the dealings of Byss and in service of the Dark Lord of the Sith. For their dedication, and service, to the Iron Throne, he entrusted them with the holocron and the knowledge of creating an Imperial Sentinel - knowing that only those of the Elder Class could access the knowledge within.

An Imperial Sentinel

Imperial Sentinels were giant, armored-and-cloaked warriors who guarded Emperor Palpatine's Dark Side Adepts and did their bidding. They were a commonplace feature, or sight, in the Emperor's Citadel on Byss. And more mysterious than their appearance was their origin; a zealously guarded secrets of the Dark Side Adepts. Not even the Imperial Sovereign Protectors were granted the knowledge to understand the workings of the Sentinels.

In truth, the sentinels were clones - created by the Adepts. The application of Dark Side power and alchemical treatments during gestation gifted each Imperial Sentinel with the stature of a titan; though, at the cost of severely stunting its mental development. In the end, the minds of the Imperial Sentinels were telepathically enslaved to the will of its creator. Rumor exists that an Adept could perceive what his sentinel perceived; though, it is not known whether this worked in reverse.

Distribution of Sentinels

When Scholae Palatinae was awarded the Holocron from Grand Master Sarin, it was decreed that only the Consul may have the power to Award the Sentinels, and distribution at his discretion.
