Kazmir Natas, is an Obelisk Templar in House Taldryan. Born into the slavery caste on Umbara, the young boy went from house servant, to gladiator, to bodyguard and ultimately Jedi. A committed Taldryanite, the young man has been entrusted with numerous sleeper missions during previous wars.

Childhood {17 ABY - 29 ABY}

The Natas family was one of renown and prestige in the old days though it has fallen considerably over the past centuries. The once noble Natas family was now nothing more than a slave family due to the ever-changing Umbaran society. Once they turned twelve, the men of the family were enlisted as gladiators in one of the many arenas around Umbara; the females and younger boys lived their life as house servants to their once fated rivals, the Nevral Family. Kazmir lived in the pits which was an adequate name for where the family lived, basically cell blocks under the Nevral mansion. There he spent time with his battle hardened father, a grand champion in the Arena and his mother, the primary maid of the Nevral mistress. From the day he could walk, his father prepared him for the future. Though too young to partake in the official trainings, his father made sure that Kazmir knew the basics about combat from early on, intending to pass on his Grand Champion title to his decedents. While a common house servant he quickly befriended the Nevral heir,Karissa, a girl that was two years younger. Though chastised by their family for their friendship; the young children would always find a way to meet each other. Nothing remarkable happened in Kazmir’s life in this stage, one thing of note was a fight in the pits with one of his cousins who was of the same age. Though the boys were considered equals when it came to fighting, the minor squabble quickly turned into a brutal beating, requiring both fathers to pull their children apart. Kazmir was severely punished for his actions as his cousin was rushed to the medical facilities. Though not pleased with his son's actions, Kazmir's father was proud of the seemingly one sided battle that he had seen; noting that Kazmir had reflexes to the point where it seemed as if he could see the future. Knowledge of Force-sensitivity was lost in the Natas family when it fell from grace. Life continued in the pits. Over the course of a handful of years, Kazmir received stricter and more brutal training from his father, and occasionally his grandfather who was the primary trainer for the gladiators. Kazmir’s abilities as a fighter increased explosively, not only having a natural aptitude but also the Force to assist him. His friendship with Karissa slowly faded as he started devoting more time to his combat studies.

Shadow Games {29 ABY - 32 ABY}

On the very day of his twelfth birthday, Kazmir found himself standing among his family members in the underground of the local arena. His birthday was celebration in typical Natas fashion; bathing in the blood of their adversaries. Facing other youths in a rite of passage, the free-for-all was hard fought and rather gruesome considering the age of the combatants, yet the outcome came as no surprise as Kazmir was the only one left standing. Weeks after the boy's first fight the family was in mourning over the loss of Kazmir's grandfather. Though only a few openly showed their remorse, it affected all of them deeply. The patriarch of the Nevral family, who had entrusted the man with his life and many of his secrets declared a day of mourning and remembrance, even going as far as to keep his gladiators out of the arena for the coming week. Ultimately the fighting continued and Kazmir and his family were becoming stars on the bloodied sands With the prestige of winning their bouts in the arena came an unexpected boon for the Natas family, they were quickly rising through the caste system. Though technically still slaves to the Nevral family they were being given more and more freedom and personal possessions. Two years after Kazmir's rite of passage, the family found themselves in a new position becoming the personal guard to their owners. Though still far from their original standing as a noble family they had been rising through the castes at a rare pace which raised many worries on the continent, if not the planet itself. Kazmir, now the personal body guard of his childhood friend Karissa, was assigned to what should have been a simple escort duty off planet. With the Natas' rise through the castes so did the Nerval gain more and more prestige, ultimately leading them to become one of the few families that were allowed to venture of planet on trade missions and what not. Exact details of Kazmir's first flight through space are few and scarce. Though he would somehow end up on New Tython after a forced crash landing, where he would be found by the members of a small remote order of Jedi that nurtured him back to health.

Having been found to be Force-sensitive by the members of House Odan-urr, and having no way to return home, Kazmir was inducted and started to receive Jedi training. His experience with gladiatorial fights on his home world meant that he, for the most part, could skip most of the physical training sessions with other new members. Though his lack of understanding in the Force and his upbringing as a vicious fighting machine caused some problems with the general Odan-Urr lifestyle. Over the course of months the young Umbaran settled into the lifestyle and quickly became a rising star in the order. With the correct guidance Kazmir rose through the ranks as his connection and understanding of the Force strengthened and deepened. Much of the peaceful life on New Tython would soon change however...

Physical Appearance

Kazmir is physically imposing for an Umbaran, standing just under 6'1" and weighting in at about 152 lbs. Like all Umbarans, he possesses gaunt facial features though he does not suffer from emaciation. Aside from his silver hair and luminescent eyes, Kazmir doesn't really stand out from the crowd. Built like an athlete owing to years of training and combat in and outside of Odan-Urr have left him a sight to behold. Though he isn't overly muscular like some of his comrades he makes up for it with agility and flexibility.

Personality

The horrors of the war on Tython have left the young man scared mentally. Generally a somewhat warm personality, he is susceptible to violent mood-swings due to a bi-polar disorder, courtesy of the war. In battle, the young man is a warrior at heart, the Umbaran takes his fighting seriously. Kazmir knows better than to senselessly charge into a fight, nor will he trust his opponents when offered kindness. Though generally warm and kind, when pushed into a corner, he quickly becomes focused and drawn-back, some might even say cynical. Despite his rather conventional training as a Light Jedi, he is not afraid to employ "shunned" maneuvers in combat.

Possessions

• Kazmir prefers unassuming clothing that allow him to smoothly blend in with the lesser species in the galaxy. Black riding boots coupled with a long sleeved deep blue shirt and gray loose pants make up most of his wardrobe. When the situation calls for it, he will wear a grey robe over his normal gear to ward him from the elements. In times of battle he will wear knee guards and durasteel braces that cover the back of his hands in combination with is normal clothing.
• Upon his knighting ceremony Kazmir was granted his first lightsaber and has stuck to it ever since. The hilt is not overly decorated and draws inspiration from Kyataran culture, going as far as holding a more traditional cross guard usually featured on Kyataran swords. The blade beam shines with a bright aureate color though it does not signify anything to the man himself anymore. Despite the blade being a gift from Odan-Urr, Kazmir currently still holds on to it deeming it unnecessary to craft a new saber while this one is still in perfect working condition.
• Much like his shattered psyche, the young man has lost the use of his natural eyes during the closing stages of the war. They have since been replaced with cybernetic implants. The implants themselves are made with an artisan like quality and feature multiple functions that put natural eyes to shame. Though the most recognized feature is a color-shift program that reflects Kazmir's mood; the most observed color is a bright cyan, though they will change the a blood red when Kazmir is angered.
• Kazmir has in his possession a personal keepsake that takes the form of a pendant, thought to have at one point belonged to Karissa Nevral.
