Salam is very close to Yridia VIII and is warmed from the intense geologic activity at its core. Furthermore, Salam has a very thick atmosphere composed of Nitrogen and some Methane. The atmosphere is translucent during the day and completely transparent during the night. The surface lacks cratering, and has many mountain ranges, plains, and valleys. The surface is very rocky and in some places is sandy. During the day, there are constant storms across the surface with Methane falling as rain. The atmosphere is not conducive to life, however, given an air supply and suit, Humanoids are free to walk the surface. There are several volcanoes on the surface, constantly spewing ash and lava from the planets interior. Most of the life on the moon, however, exists in underground caves and vents where an artificial atmosphere is provided. The caves are warmed by geothermal heating, and are themselves no longer active in the volcanic cycle. The network of caves and tunnels is nearly endless, carved by the moon’s volcanically active past. Tens of thousands can live and coexist in a normal society underground. Many of the walls have been reinforced, and some buildings have even been constructed inside the largest caverns.
The Cave
Coming into orbit you will see a planet entirely surrounded by green gasses too thick for most scans to the surface. Salam is a planet that is incapable of sustaining life. The noxious atmosphere will cause immediate death. Due to this, Tarenti scientists determined certain precautions had to take place for the successful habitation of this planet.
Advance unit reports determined there were massive subterranean channels interconnected with tunnels large enough to fit buildings in and chambers capable of housing an entire city. Upon report of this, work began to develop prefabricated structures within a main chamber located strategically enough to have a headquarters established there. The interior was properly sealed and the rock further supported.
Along with the construction of these headquarters, inhabitant structures were created for the relocation of workers and their families. For the massive transplant of all of these individuals it was determined that a spaceport must be erected at the mouth of the cave to allow for rapid transportation for the large influx of builders, administrators and various staff positions.
After 20 years, construction was completed in 34 ABY well after Tarentum had already established its domain. However, the strategic value of this location was not underestimated and after a year of discussion it was determined that Kah Manet with his outrageous but intriguing philosophy would lead a new house to this location and assume the leadership of the location and its inhabitants.
Liath Lives
Between the initial accordance transferring ownership to Liath and the actual relocation of the house, much more work was required to properly accommodate their needs. Most of the construction workers were expelled from the planet, leaving a bare bones staff handling the affairs of the spaceport, energy specialists and a handful of handpicked staff chosen specifically by the house summit. Among some of the requests, one in particular caused an uproar especially in the way the request would be fulfilled. In a certain cave deep below the main capital, even deeper than the Aegis Ward, engineers were tasked with creating a Naboo swamp in a specific chamber where Kah Manet quartered and held high value meetings and casual appointments as well.
