Character History
- "Life is an interesting thing. One moment you can battling for everything you've ever known, and the next...looking back reminiscently"
- ―Fay in discussion with a subordinate
Early Life
Channe Fay was born on Sukhur, the daughter of a foreign ambassador and a businessman. She grew up within her parent's cushion, traveling with her mother on some of her trips. Fay was a precocious child, gifted in mathematics and social sciences. She did not spend most of her time on Sukhur, because her parents' primary home was in Estle City, on Selen. However, she harbored a deep love for Sukhur, something her parents never truly understood. Channe's mother became infertile due to a horrible virus she suffered a few years after her daughter's birth, never having another child.
Fay did not have her father's patience, instead inheriting her mother's free-spirited, even wild, nature. However, she did inherit her father's volatile temper, slow to anger but ferocious when pushed over the edge. When she turned 16, she was shipped off to business school on Eldar, to learn her father's trade. She hardly lasted two months, before she left the school in boredom and frustration. Instead, she tried her hand at diplomacy. Again, Fay decided it was not the life for her due to her unpredictable temper.
Instead, Channe Fay decided to try the military life. So, she started at the officer's academy on Selen when she turned 17, in 18 ABY.
Military
Channe Fay was an instant success as an officer. She had her mother's natural ability, and quickly climbed near the top of her class. She attended the academy for three years, graduating in 21 ABY. Upon graduation, Fay was sent back to her homeplanet of Sukhur, where she was stationed as communications officer in the 24th Skirmishing Infantry Brigade. After only seven months at the position, Fay was promoted to assistant Brigade Commander.
At the time, the Division Commander was Bernard Hyleas, another Sukhur native. Fay looked up to him as a role model and mentor in the service, and proved herself to him and the other Brigade Commanders many times over. For just over a year and a half, Fay served as brigade assistant, before the commander was promoted to Assistant Division Commander in 23 ABY. Channe Fay, Bernard's protégé and closest student, was the obvious choice to become the new Brigade Commander.
For four years Fay served as Brigade Commander, until the Yuuzhan Vong invaded. In the initial onslaught, the Brigade Commander of the 23rd Skirmishing Infantry and the Assistant Division Commander were both killed, along with large chunks of the Division XII soldiers. Gethsemane's Division Commander was killed as well, and the troops there were thrown into chaos. Bernard Hyleas, possessing more experience than most other candidates, was shipped over to take control of Gethsemane's troops to attempt to repel the Yuuzhan Vong.
Division Commander
Bernard Hyleas pleaded with the Proconsul himself to allow Channe Fay to succeed him as Division Commander of the XII of Sukhur. In the end, the Proconsul relented, and Fay was given the position. She mustered all her skill and experience to lead Division XII against the hated Yuuzhan Vong enemy. In the end, the Dajorran soldiers simply could not contend with the invaders, and were overwhelmed just after Boral fell.
The AEF rescued the majority of the surviving troops of the XII, where they were taken to help out the struggling planets and moons across the rest of the system. It was a hopeless battle, as the planets fell one by one against the Vong invaders. Channe Fay had not gotten much opportunity to prove herself as Division Commander, but every single one of her peers had failed the same way as she had, against the Yuuzhan Vong. However, she began to drill her remaining soldiers immediately aboard the fleet, in the hopes that her unit would fare better when they reclaimed their home system.
Personality
Channe Fay is a very driven, determined individual, quick to laugh and slow to anger. However, her troops can attest that when she does anger, most everyone vacates the path of her wrath. Fay is not a patient individual by any means, and it has hurt her military record a bit in the past, unable to sit quietly with her soldiers in an appointed support role, preferring to jump into the action.
