The Scylla is a DP 20 Frigate in service to Clan Plagueis' naval forces. One of two such warships tasked with operating in an escort role to larger warships, the ship serves as part of an anti-starfighter screen. Attached to the First Mobile Fleet, it operates as part of the primary war fleet of the clan.

History

Purchased in 34 ABY, the Scylla was brought into service during the New Order era. Originally part of the clan's Defence Force Dorn battlegroup, it was soon moved to a more active role during a restructuring of the Ascendant Fleet, and tasked with escorting the Ascendancy itself during major operations. It proved to be highly effective in this role throughout the various wars that dominated this period of the Brotherhood's history, surviving both engagements against forces loyal to the Iron Throne and later the Collective during the multitude of battles against that particular enemy. It served Clan Plagueis loyally in the Ascendant Fleet for years. However, in 40 ABY, during the Fifteenth Great Jedi War, it was destroyed by The Children of Mortis.

Characteristics

A rare dedicated warship designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, the DP20 was a common sight within Rebel forces during the Galactic Civil War. Short, compact, and fast, the vessel offered a small profile for attacks with a speed and maneuverability comparable to that of slower starfighters. This was done without compromising its offensive or defensive capabilities, as the ship was capable of both enduring substantial enemy firepower and returning it in kind. An armament of eight double turbolaser cannons, four concussion missile tubes, and six quad laser cannons, made it a threat to ships of any enemy class. Most importantly, it allowed the vessel to effectively combat both rival warships and serve as an anti-starfighter platform.

The ship's engines occupied nearly half of the vessel's total interior space, leaving little room for amenities or additional facilities. This left the ship with less cargo and consumables to operate with, and limited its capacity to perform solo missions or long-range operations without supporting vessels.

Role

Along with other ships of similar classes, the Scylla is an escort vessel above all else and a vital component in the First Mobile Fleet's anti-starfighter network.
