Relentless (heavy cruiser)

Introduction

The Majestic-Class Heavy Cruiser Basilisk is a heavy cruiser in service to the Clan Scholae Palatinae Fleet, currently assigned to the Starstealer Task Force. In practice, the warship is one of the most heavily deployed vessels in the Clan Fleet.

Vessel Info

The Majestic-Class is a recent New Republic design which was meant to go up against a Star Destroyer at range and win. Using advanced targeting systems, this class can stand-off at range and hit their targets, forcing them to come in close to land the equivalent amount of firepower back. Excellent speed and maneuverability combined with heavy shielding and armor allow the ship to more than fulfill their intended role.

History

Acquisition

The Basilisk and her sister ships, the Adenn and the Fury all were captured along with the Excidium II from the Republic Engineering Corporation shipyards in the Mon Calamari system by the 26th Special Operations Platoon of Charlie Company from the 17th Legion during the events of Operation: Reclamation. Shortly after it was stolen, it rendezvoused with its' new crew and made it safely to Clan space, reinforcing the two new Star Destroyers present, the Indomitable and the Warspite.

Service to the Palpatines

The ship is currently commanded by Captain Salina Duval, previous navigational officer of the Strike-class Cruiser Dark Predator. Although a bit reckless in the eyes of Clan leadership, clearly she has had a large streak of luck, since she has handled her ship well in all sorts of training simulations. Given her maverick personality type, she has been given the task of being the vanguard of fleet operations, and is the first to be be deployed wherever the Clan needs the presence of a warship but does not need the overwhelming firepower of a Star Destroyer. Thus, her crew is rapidly gaining valuable operational experience, although somewhat diluted due to the constant crew member rotations. The crew has officially been rated as Regular.

Deployment

During periods of large-scale combat, the Basilisk serves as a mobile force, usually tasked with flank security or flanking maneuvers. At other times, the ship is usually deployed as an escort for valuable cargo runs or as a representative of the Clan in various capacities. However, its' main mission is to be the vanguard for the fleet, jumping in first, assessing the situation, and reporting back if necessary. In such a role it is usually accompanied by at least a squadrons' worth of Clan hyperspace capable starfighters to provide local security.
