The Emperor's Observatory is a bunker on the moon Elysia located in the moons ocean near the shoreline. It was one of many observatories that Emperor Palpatine, also the Dark Lord of the Sith, established across the galaxy. Each observatory looked beyond the galactic rim with the intent of finding what laid beyond the known galaxy, and each had a specific purpose.

The Elysia observatory contained a number of items the Emperor had collected before his death, with most of them being robbed from a Sith Temple located on another moon in the Caelus system. The bunker originally had no locking or unlocking mechanism, making it only accessible to those attuned in the Force but was later modified to grant access to all members of the clan as place for their studies under supervision of the Clan's Lorekeeper.

Overview

Entrance to the Observatory

Located outside the shoreline on a natural reef, the four floor bunker's external structure resembled the imperial insignia with the main chamber with its rounded staircases being located in the centralized star and walkways on different levels beneath the waterline giving access to storerooms located in the outer sections of the structure used to store artifacts and other rare items

With no external entrance on the bunker itself, its lone access is through a system of tunnels leading to a small bunker entrance hidden within the jungles on Elysia near the shoreline.

History

Interior of the Observatory in 34ABY

During the Clone Wars, while he was still Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, Sheev Palpatine felt the call of unknown space from beyond the galactic rim. He wanted to explore the Unknown Regions and galaxies that laid beyond his own, and even theorized that such unexplored space could be the source of his dark side powers. He built observatories, such as the one on Elysia, as part of that exploration and used this one to store several artifacts.

It was only due to the way the observatories power system worked that it has gone unnoticed by the local citizens for over three decades. Since only when its fully powered on the compressors from the water engines would open and pump the water from the observatories structure.

Later in 34 ABY the Taldryan Proconsul Quejo rediscovered the Observatory and after exploring it he reinstated it as hub for studying and to store the Lore and History of the Clan after the loss of the Library of Lears during the annihilation of the Kr’Tal system.
