After competition medals, merit medals are the most common awards found in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. They are rewarded for a variety of things but are usually given by your House or Clan summits as a reward for taking part in various projects, being generally active over a period of time or something specific such as highest gaming activity within the clan in any given month. In the past, the lower tier merit medals such as the Dark Cross were given were menial tasks such as spotting grammatical errors in Shadow Academy courses and various other tasks within the Academy, however in 38 ABY, changes were made so that such tasks were to be rewarded with Scrolls of Foundation. Each Clan or Independent House will award the appropriate merit medals to a handful of members who have done extremely well in that month in an overall aspect.
