Ostara’s surface is almost completely overgrown with dense woodlands and is largely left for itself as it doesn't contain any resources valuable to the Caelus Cartel. Ostara is also the trailing moon of a tri-moon cart with Elysia and Iosan. At the moment it is surrounded by a powerful and impenetrable ion storm, though the Taldryan Republic is constantly working on ways to bypass this storm.
Description
Despite being temperate and habitable, the jungles of Ostara pose major challenges for its inhabitants. Due to the moon's constant rains and wet climate, mechanical devices do not last long and require continuous maintenance. Moreover, the moon is devoid of any resources valuable to the syndicate and has been seen as little more than an overgrown asteroid.
Ostara’s biosphere is big and varied, featuring numerous of the Galaxy’s most recognizable and infamous predators. At least two different types of rancor have been noted to roam the moon. With the unusual concentration of predatory animals, colonization was overlooked by the Empire.
Although unimportant to the members of the Caelus Cartel, for the members of Taldryan attuned to the Force, Ostara revealed itself to be balanced in the Force, making it a point of interest for Taldryan as they see the possibility to erect temples for themselves on the moon.
Notable Landmarks
Langraac Village
Langraac Village is an Ewok Village located somewhere in the dense forests in the north-eastern hemisphere of Ostara. After the moon was cut off access-wise, the tribe was able to grow and expand throughout the forest without interference or interactions from humanoids or other species, and as such have become incredibly protective of themselves and their own.
They are not opposed to trade with outsiders, but are incredibly apprehensive in doing so and a majority of the population disapproves of any involvement with outsiders. While not directly hostile, they will be attacked if provoked in the least and hunt down those who slight them.
From what is known, they have some farms and most of the Ewoks are hunters and scavengers. Otherwise, outsiders are forbidden anywhere near their villages and the Ewoks refuse to take anyone near them.
Any interactions with them are advised with the highest level of caution, and it is greatly advised to interact with them with an Ewok from the Republic present to maintain peaceful interactions.
Unknown Temple
In a later event, Taldryan will stumble upon a lost temple hidden under a natural promontory. It is unknown whether it served a single Sith Lord to be worshipped by his followers or was used as a training site for them. The temple has been abandoned for several centuries and there remains no connection to the Dark Side within its halls.
Driftwood
Driftwood is a small seaside town just a few kilometers from the old Taldryan Temple Headquarters on Ostara.
The town is relatively low tech, having been made from salvaged wood that could be used from the jungle after the intense solar storm that hit the jungle moon prior to the formation of the Taldryan Republic. The town promotes a simpler way of life, living off of the land via hunting, farms, and especially fishing in the nearby ocean.
The local tavern is the biggest hit, with many choosing to drink their days earnings away, sharing stories and tales of adventure and grandeur. The bar is fitted with holonet connections and recordings of events from around the galaxy. The owner is a former retired Taldryan military official being aided by a protocol droid, just wanting to live the remainder of their lives in peace.
History
Pre-Taldryan
Before the fall of the Empire imperial forces discovered and mapped it. Despite this they developed no interest in the moon as, compared to Perune, it holds no valuable resources, and the constant rain made it a less optimal site to built a colony than Chyron.
