Serving as both an asset of the Ascendant Fleet and The Circle, the Ambition is a refitted Consular-class cruiser that occupies an odd place within the Ascendant Fleet. Attached to Command Force Aurek, it operates as an escort during times of war while also serving as a location for the training and transportation of Force sensitive individuals added to the clan.
History
Brought into service in 25 BBY, the Ambition was originally joined to Defence Force Dorn as part of the Ascendant Fleet's older structure. Due to the mixed roles of its design. it also served as an asset of the Circle, typically in the role of transportation but also as a primary location when required. It was one of the few ships to escape the destruction of the fleet during 34 ABY, and was moved to the newly designated Command Force Aurek during the rebuilding and restructuring of the Clan's navy.
Characteristics
The Charger variant of the Consular-class cruiser came about thanks to a mixture of desperation and necessity. Originally given the duties of transporting diplomats and members of the senate across the galaxy, it was noted for its effective frame and narrow build, at one-hundred-and-thirty-nine meters in length. This, combined with the sheer volume of such ships in service during the outbreak of the Clone Wars made them a prime candidate for wartime vessels. Retaining the same general profile, speed, and maneuverability of its prior design, the ship was armed with four twin-barrelled light turbolaser turrets along with further armaments such as a large ion cannon emplacement. When working in conjuncture with the larger vessels of the Republic fleet, this made them a remarkably effective escort vessel.
The Charger variant retained a number of duties during the war as it had during peacetime. Requiring only a crew of eight for flight worthiness and up to seventy-three personnel to fully man its systems, it was not a drain on vital crewmen while also able to carry up to thirty passengers and six-thousand metric tons of cargo during any long-range operation.
