A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...
Corellia
Pequen Myflax was born in the Corellian urban suburbs in 50 BBY. He grew up in a relatively fortunate family who owned a family-run company in the city. Marissia Swefum was also born on the same planet, yet in a rural location in 47 BBY. The dark haired female grew up in a spiritual household, who had less worth, yet were very spiritual. They were a Force sensitive family and due to fear of the Jedi taking their family, they remained in hiding. Despite being very spiritual and having purple highlights to signify this, Marissia dreamt of fortune and riches. The Swefums were light-sided and tried to keep their children safe. However, when she was sixteen in 31 BBY, Marissia moved out of the family home with flowing deep purple hair and headed to the urban area on her home planet.
Marissia began working for a small company run by a local family. It was here she met Pequen and they soon began courting and fell in love. She tried to conceal her Force sensitivities from everyone. This was successful until one day in very early 30 BBY, not long after she turned 17, she discovered she was pregnant. Pequen's family found out and disowned him in shame of such young people embarking into parenthood. They ceased the youngsters' employment forever, yet gave them enough money to set themselves up and a small, mediocre home back in the rural area of Corellia. A short time after, the company went under and his family lost their business. By this point, Pequen had done the 'right' thing and married Marissia a couple of months before their baby daughter, Tabithiamarissia Myflax was born.
Character History
Humble Beginnings
Brought into her world by her doting father and mother in 6 BBY upon the idyllic, mountainous Alderaan, Kookimarissia was born with a glowing aura radiating around her and everywhere she went. The first few years of her life were spent happily absorbing the utopian society that surrounded her. Days spent discovering new depths of her habitat with her nearest and dearest. Nights spent admiring the stars and dreaming of worlds and civilisations beyond her. From a young age, Kooki seemed to have an innate sense of adventure, and took great pleasure in discovering her home planet. Her only fears were of the possible monsters under the bed. The mountainous landscape was both aesthetically pleasing and developmentally challenging for a youngster. Despite being too young to ascend the mountains, Kooki set her sights and dreamt of worlds beyond hers. The first six years of her life were undoubtedly and unspeakably wonderful. Life couldn’t have been more perfect.
Written in the Stars
Ever since she was very young, Kooki was always mesmerised by the stars. She would often spend evenings staring out into the vast expanse of navy sky illuminated by the numerous sparse, twinkling dots in the distance. As she got older, wherever she was she always looked up to them, almost for reassurance that she wasn’t alone in such a mortal world of mystery, darkness, devastation and corruption. Wherever she was or whatever happened, the stars remained the only consistent aspect of her life. The stars seemed to shed light in her dark soul and as dark as she was, they provided her with a sense of comfort if she was ever to need it.
Parental Guidance
- " You're 'special' Kookicake. That's all you need to know for now. I'll explain when you're older. Old enough to understand."
- ― Tabby to a socially isolated 6 year old Kooki
Kooki spent her first six years of her life being raised and guided by her Force-sensitive mother, Tabithiamarissia and Force-blind father, Mostynn Mimosa. Partially named after her spiritual mother, Kooki remained close to both of them. As she had been relatively young when they passed away, Kooki only has a vague and hazy memory of them. From what she could recall, her mother's spirituality led to her dying the tips of Kooki's hair purple to signify this faith. Tabithiamarissia had a full head of purple hair as she had completed her spiritual journey and Kooki was just beginning. The young female struggled to fit in amongst her peers since she felt 'different' in some way. No one seemed to like how she could foresee events or actions of others before they happened. Tabby deemed her only daughter too young to understand what the Force was. She feared if she knew too soon, it could do more harm than good, despite Mostynn urging her to do the opposite.
Disruption in Perfection
- "She knows Pequen, she knows."
- ―Marissia to Pequen upon noticing Kooki had just witnessed Alderaan being destroyed and had realised this meant she was now an orphan.
In 0 BBY Kooki’s world fell apart all around her. One fateful day she embarked on her debut venture to Corellia with fellow school friends, to explore life beyond what she already knew. Oblivious to what was happening on her home planet, she was absorbing a new environment. Whilst on this planet, she happened to meet her maternal grandmother accidentally. Recognised by a familiar shade of purple within the hair, Kooki's grandmother soon identified her granddaughter. Upon the return to Alderaan with her school friends, she decided she didn't want to lose her grandparents and wished to reunite her mother with her estranged parents. Despite hesitation due to their age, they reluctantly agreed. The pilot almost collided with the Death Star and sharply ground to a halt to avoid this. Marissia was feeling really uneasy, sensing something bad was about to happen. Most of the children (who were Force-blind) were oblivious to the upcoming event. Kooki was looking out of the window just in time to see her habitat being shattered into tiny pieces and floating mindlessly and aimlessly through the galaxy. She knew her parents hadn't survived.
Something in the hidden depths of her soul vowed that she would not let anyone or anything touch her heart again, in sheer fear of losing it. Faith in humanity became scepticism. Upon her parents' death, Kooki's tips of her hair remained purple. She had lost her faith, yet she kept them this was as a mark of respect to her late mother. Fear inside the orphaned female had peaked an all time high. Strangely, this was the beginning of a remarkable adventure.
Kooki returned to Corellia and her grandparents took her under their wings and raised her as best they could. Her grandmother had been childhood sweethearts with her departed husband, and since Kooki’s mother’s passing, Marissia hadn't amended the animosity between them and her mental health had begun to deteriorate. More devastation hit when Kooki was twelve years old (6 ABY). Her grandfather passed away due to his heart failing. Without her childhood sweetheart, Marissia rapidly descended into senility and began getting dazed and confused on a regular basis.
As Kooki grew up and developed into a young woman she began attempting to fill the empty void deep within the depths of her soul with anything that came her way.
Once she hit adolescence, Kooki’s hormones began raging and doing somersaults inside her maturing exterior. Unable to control such unusual feelings and only a senile grandmother to guide or advise her on how to manage them. Now as the years had progressed, Kooki was growing up fast and Marissia was getting progressively worse, so she began needing to look after herself.
It all happened one fateful day, when Kooki was only sixteen (10 ABY). Barely even an adult and she had a heart-breaking decision to make. Marissia hadn’t left the house in months and had become a recluse. Seeing her like this was painful day in, day out. After a lot of emotion battling and having to converse with some unsavoury characters, she finally took the plunge. She had attempted to get her hands on some Cordazine, yet she encountered issues retrieving it, since the last dose had been used when her grandfather had had his first heart problem and he was revived. Therefore, Kooki had run out of options and approached her sleeping grandmother and administered the lethal dose of Silicartha. Within minutes Marissia had departed the mortal world of Corellia. Once nightfall came, she removed her grandmother's body with aid from the people she had sought the poison from and deposited it into a lake she had visited in her youth with Kooki's grandfather. She had been told the story many times and even his ashes had been scattered here.
Later that night, Kookimarissia fled the utopian planet. She no longer had any connections to the place. She board a shuttle and watched the stars go by and continued her quest into discovering herself and the weird feelings she often had. Only time would tell.
Kooki may have survived Alderaan's destruction, but part of her soul ceased on that fateful day. As time ticked by she decided to travel the galaxy and seek solace elsewhere.
Sadly Kooki spent almost her entire life moving from place to place without properly settling, so she had never had time for maturity. Physically she had all the genetic wiring and attributes of someone her age, yet mentally and cognitively she remained quite young. This meant obtaining and maintaining relationships and friendships with members of both genders quite troublesome.
A 'Special' Discovery
- " Ever felt like you not quite belong? That's cause you be strong in the Force. Come, discover the real you. Your power knows no bounds young one."
- ― An undercover Dark Jedi to a lost and confused Kooki.
It was 15 ABY and in a cantina on Coruscant, a 21 year old Kooki was feeling quite uneasy. She had spent the last five years travelling and longed to slow down. She just wanted to escape her reality. She couldn't fathom quite why she felt uncomfortable. A hooded stranger approached her. Their face was concealed, but it was clear they were male. The husky voice never revealed his identity, yet spoke of this Dark Jedi Brotherhood that was in the early stages of forming and tried to tempt the female nearby to him. Kooki was very tempted since his unknown person was able to tell her answers to the questions that had plagued her for years. At least she knew why she felt different and her mother had called her special all those years ago. After much persuasion, the hooded stranger left the cantina alone. Kooki was very confused and chose to try to find herself without the Brotherhood at this time. She was just leaving the cantina, when a short man in an Imperial uniform rushed in and used the facilities and grabbed a quick alcoholic beverage and left as quick as he came.
Sleeping With The Enemy
- " Lay there you Imperial bastard. You took my home, I'll take your worth. Every last scrap of it."
- ― Kooki, to an Imperial soldier she had seduced.
Kooki was lost, confused and full of raging hormones. Whilst on Coruscant, she got kidnapped by Imperial soldiers, who thought she would be a useful accessory. She may have been young, but she was also promiscuous. She was prepared to pay them at their own game and get insider information to cause corruption within. The hormonal female worked at seducing and getting as much insider information as she could and planned to escape and get this key information to other sources, who could cause harm to the Empire and overthrow them. Five years was spent seducing and often suffocating soldiers once they had been had by Kooki. She even made it look like suicide.
However, by 20 ABY, Kooki was now 26 and the number of mysterious deaths was starting to arouse suspicion. She was kidnapped by some Imperial Officers. Whilst questioned, the Alderaanian was physically tortured and forced to confess her antics. Eventually her stubbornness came to her detriment and she confessed everything. As punishment, Miss Mimosa was severely wounded and following a severe head injury was left comatose.
Many tests were carried out as Kooki's body was experimented on. Over the course of a decade medical knowledge dramatically improved and by 30 ABY, she was finally free. seemingly the female appeared physically fine, yet all the trauma had permanently affected part of her brain. Her personality was almost split inside her head. Occasionally Kooki would have abnormal behavior outbursts, yet mainly when angry or irritated about certain things. This was part of her life she remained reserved and very quiet about.
Dark at the End of the Tunnel
Shadow Academy
- " I don't need no one. I have been fine up to now with no one. And no one is going to change my mind. Not you. Not ANYONE!"
- ― Kooki, to Andrelious urging her to have a Master
31 ABY (Age 37)
After years of travelling, avoiding interacting with Imperials and slowly trying to piece together fragments from her emotionally ruining life so far, Kooki enrolled into the Shadow Academy. It was here she hoped she could forget her troubled past and finally break free of heartache and finally make sense of her strange gifts and abilities. The feisty female self-taught herself, and learning from observing others' behaviours around her and partook several exams, which she passed.
She was initially assigned to Clan Arcona. She soon began progressing through the ranks at a steady pace and meeting new people along the way. Although friendships was not one of her strong attributes. Scepticism remained high within Kooki. All she wanted right now was to get herself Knighted and get as far away from this mad place as soon as possible. Kooki was learning fast about the Force and the ways and temptations of the dark side.
Kooki remained rather solitary and preferred to observe and learn in the shadows. Occasionally she would have an uncontrollable 'episode' and lash out at someone. The first person being the Clan Rollmaster at the time, Andrelious. Understandably as the ex-Imperial was provoking her for a reaction. Little did Kooki realise, that in this cantina, Andrelious was trying to build up the darkness within the female.
The Alderaanian remained self-taught and despite the Warlord, Andrelious urging her to get a Master to guide her through training, it was all in vain as it fell on deaf ears. All he managed to do was enrage her further. In hindsight, this built up more darkness, thus shaping Kooki into quite the femme fatale she was yet to come. Needless to say, many of her 'episodes' involved her sparring with Andrelious. They were getting increasingly close and she was obtaining an array of skills manipulating her weapon. Lightsaber training from an ex-military individual led to the Alderaanian becoming increasingly confident and dark sided with her training saber.
Once Knighted and using her self-crafted purple blade, her worth was 'tested'. This resulted in a few cracked ribs and other minor wounds, yet she survived and was healed by a team of medics. Needless to say, Andrelious was not happy and resented the Clan heavily and cracks began appearing in the level of trust held between him and other Galereans.
Kooki went on to continue to self-teach herself, train with her saber and duel with random creatures. A few negative experiences would not hold her back. She also became able to convince strangers she was someone who she wasn't. Her split personality made this easier and combined with her increasing saber skills, the female tended to go undercover frequently.
A Positive Within a Negative
Initially Kooki assigned herself to Dark Forge, as it fit her personal attributes. It was here she progressed as a Journeyman into Knighthood.
After some time, the Battleteam wasn't appealing to the Krath anymore and she felt drawn to another, so she transferred across to another. She was still travelling and moving about within her Clan, but she couldn't deny her uncertainties and negative vibes she was getting from the environment around her.
Kooki moved into Soulfire and was now alongside Andrelious and under the wings of BTL Nadrin Erinos Arconae. It was here her specialist lightsaber skills were put to good use. Both tried to reassure Kooki that her anxieties were only in her head, resulting in a few bad 'episode' outbursts. Andrelious was seeing his own worries that he tried to ignore, were becoming increasingly evident. Not just in his own mind, but through the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of his new companion.
And then there were THREE. FOUR FIVE
Despite the negativity, soon Kooki realised there was more to her weird combination of feelings. She soon made a life-changing discovery and dropped the bombshell that she was expecting a baby.
As her pregnancy progressed, the Alderaanian discovered she was to soon be mother to not one, but two babies. Further discoveries were made at this point. When scanning both parents' medical records to check for any hereditary conditions, it was soon revealed that Andrelious was already a father to Saskia. She wasn't a young girl either. She was a maturing woman who was the result of a one night stand many years previously. Upon hearing these revelations, Kooki unusually began to feel threatened and vulnerable. She no longer felt safe within Galeres and wanted nothing to do with this other female and hoped Andrelious felt similarly. Paranoia and fear, built up combined with anger within her. Andrelious resigned as Clan Rollmaster and was appointed Battleteam leader of Soulfire, was the final straw and Kooki transferred to House Qel-Droma and Battlteam Arête.
A few months post the twins' birth, the ever-travelling Knight got promoted to Priestess and moved back to Galeres. By this point, Kooki and Saskia were on amicable terms.
I Want To Break Free
When the twin daughters of Andrelious and Kooki turned half a year old, their parents finally fled Selen and began a new life on Karufr under the watchful eye of the Taldryan government.
The Mimosa-Inahj family took Saskia with them and got a homestead built into a mountain, to help Kooki feel at home. Fot the sirst time in forever, the Alderaanian felt happy, safe and at peace surrounded by snow. Admittedly they were living in an isolated area, yet the new parents were frequent visitors to the local cantina one or both of them wearing the twin girls in trademark purple and black woven wraps. Kooki refused to leave the girls with anyone she didn't trust when she began actively going on missions again. After a very negative occurrence that she refuses to speak of.
Character Profile
Physical Appearance
Kooki has unique hair which is long, floaty and black with purple tips. This denotes her spiritual connection to her ancestors. This is her main notable physical attribute, as the rest of her is quite formulaic. The forty years young female is of slightly taller than average for a human female and is petite in build. She wears knee-high leather boots, in which she conceals her weapons when undercover.
Kooki's daily attire tends to be a set of black and purple cinder robes. Attached to these is a flowing purple cloak. These add to her youthful looks, yet allow for maximum comfort and mobility.
As she frequently goes undercover, her hair colour is often changed, along with her colour of cinder robes. However, she prefers to colour co-ordinate.
Temperament
Upon initial meeting, this Krath appears friendly and warming towards others around her. Making friends seems difficult for Kooki, as she lacked guidance and support growing up. Moving from place to place so frequently meant she had not had the opportunity to settle down and develop friendships or relationships properly. As she experienced severe emotional loss and lack of attachment at such a young age, she harboured a lot of inner resentment, bitterness and anger, especially to those who were responsible for the loss of her family and home. Since becoming a self-taught orphan, Kooki swore she would never let history repeat itself. Channeling this aggression was tested throughout childhood and adulthood.
Relationships
Oh Master Grant That I May Always Seek
Upon graduating from the Shadow Academy, Kooki was assigned to Atyiru Caesus Entar as her Apprentice. Quite quickly the pair seemed to develop a firm friendship. Atyiru warmly welcomed a shy and apprehensive Kooki upon her debut into the Arcona cantina.
- "No need to be shy, Kooki. This lot is harmless. Andrelious, the Rollmaster...my Quaestor and brother, Cethgus, Deimos d'Tana over there...and grumpy-face in the kitchen is our esteemed Consul, Marick. "
- ―Atyiru’s initial introduction of those in the cantina on Kooki’s first appearance
Not long after their debut meeting, Kooki and her Master met away from the cantina and in the Darkest Night’s training hall.
Star-Crossed Lovers
One of the few Atyiru introduced Kooki to be the Clan Rollmaster, Andrelious. A short, stumpy sort of person whose lines on his brow and fading hair colour indicated his mature age.
Upon their initial meeting in the cantina, Andrelious questioned Kooki as to her background. Probing into her personal history was only going to cause uneasiness and venom to emerge from within. Kooki calmly explained to the Sith that she hailed from Alderaan, which resulted him admitting to being an ex-Imperial Pilot for The Empire. Knowing they were responsible for the collapse of her home planet, she wasted no time in expressing her anger.
- "Let the anger of your homeworld blowing into pieces flow. Try it. Strike me down with that armoury saber. "
- ―The line that resulted in Kooki attempting to attack Andrelious.
Naturally, Kooki was overthrown by Andrelious’ far superior power and ended up succumbing a minor injury on some broken glass. Being a medic, Atyiru came to her Apprentice’s rescue and tended to the wound.
As Kooki progressed through the ascending ranks, she reluctantly agreed to meet Andrelious outside the cantina and away from prying eyes. After the epiphany of that she wasn’t getting any younger and Andrelious too had a chequered and upsetting past, Kooki began to relax and became more accepting of the Sith being in her life as nothing more than a friend at this early stage.
After much suppression and questioning herself, Kooki finally swallowed her pride and surrendered her inner emotions.
- "We have both suffered enough tragedy in our long lives. Before long we will approach our autumnal years and time will have just passed us by. Surely our akin tortured souls don't deserve more anguish. We could just leave the past where it belongs and advance forwards. As long as it’s amicable between us, I know I will sleep more peacefully knowing this. "
- ―Kooki ‘seeing sense’ and capitulating to Andrelious.
After what seemed like forever, the exchange between the pair led to Kookimarissia Mimosa discovering and feeling something she had once thought impossible- she was home.
