Maenaki Dalevi'in (The Author is kind of a moron and spelled her page name wrong)is the Aedile of House Qel-Droma in Clan Arcona. (Like it or not.) She replaced [K'tana] when the Twi'lek suddenly abandoned Brotherhood space with barely a goodbye to those she served for several years. As the Seltron (the writer's adaptation of Zeltron + Sephi) simply showed up with the former Aedile's recommendation and little else in the way of her history, a favor of reasonable doubt has been bestowed on her. Unless she shows signs of threatening the Clan she may continue to serve in K'tana's stead.
Early Life
Mae, as she often asks people to call her, grew up on Thustra and spent the majority of her 73 years in politics. As the daughter of a renown diplomat, she lived a privileged life. She had a slight cult following, coming into the public eye as an heiress as well as a debutant. This gave way to an extensive education, one which she excelled at in every manner and that gave her multitudinous choices for her career path. She began, as her father, by attending law school. From there she decided political sciences were not her forte. While there, she met her first love: Ny'ren.
Although Maenaki is only half Sephi, her background very rarely came into context because she went out of her way to hide the Zeltron half. She spent a lot of time dying her bright red hair to darker, more Sephi-natural colors and wearing contacts to change her bright green-blue eyes into the more common brown. The pinkish hue of her skin she covered in makeup and carefully placed fabrics and mesh. Her mother being an unknown was easy to dismiss as all Mae had was a story and simply leaving her out was easy, especially when getting into a prestigious school and getting together with the pureblood with the best grades.
The two Sephi spent a lot of time together in and outside of the classroom. Ny'ren was a perfect, the top of all her classes, and Maenaki soon became the top threat and rival. Where most Sephi would create a caustic relationship, Mae, and Ny'ren created a healthy, enjoyable and competitive one.
Still fairly young in the eyes of the long-lived Sephi, the youths relationship seemed tumultuous, especially in the prying eyes of the media. Maenaki considers this part of her life to be when her Zeltron half had taken over. Which was why the burning flame burned out much faster than it would have if she had been pureblooded.
Ny'ren took her economics and political science majors and transitioned from school directly into law. She worked several years into becoming a prosecution attorney. Whereas Mae would never talk about what she was doing. It took eight years of prying before she gave anything up.
Somewhere, during their fourth year together, Maenaki's natural talent, being a living lie detector, blossomed. As she progressed through political sciences, sociology, psychology and a minor in fashion, a sudden dark side began to seep out.
At the end of the year, Mae had traumatized several students into confessing everything from cheating and perjury to misconduct. Even had a few people arrested for more serious crimes. Her ability to tear the truth from people was noticed by and then monitored by the military presence of the school. From there, she was put through a variety of inconspicuous tests. As with a few recruits before her, she caught on and demanded answers.
From there her media presence disappeared. Fame disappeared leaving nothing to miss in its wake and Maenaki was given the job of a lifetime. So long as she swore to silence and secrecy. It was, after all, in service to her homeworld and its safety.
By the end of the couple's seventh year, Ny'ren had sent dozens of horrible people to death and jail. Maenaki had even met with a few in their cells beforehand to get them to confess before they hit the courtroom. This would often lead to good days back home and Ny would talk about the lack of paperwork that night with elation.
But soon, Maenaki's secretly violent second life began to creep through her perceptions. New lessons and training to hone her abilities and education caused Mae's ego to take over. Her favorite past time at home became mentally and emotionally manipulating Ny'ren while convincing her of lies. When caught, she would twist the situation around or act cold and withdrawn if she lost the game.
But it was not a game to Ny'ren and after eight years with Mae, she left. They parted on resentful terms and with mutual disdain. Maenaki's came from the loss of her favorite toy, Ny'ren's from allowing herself to be a victim of the twisted woman who had once been her best friend.
New World, Nothing Changes...
Maenaki spent another ten years on Thustra and on her fortieth year a new position opened up to her. She had grown into a skilled interrogator and her skill at finding the truth was unsurpassed, it made sense to her superiors to begin sending her on missions across the Galaxy. It started close to home, testing her skill and assuring themselves she was capable of the delicate nature of her missions. She surpassed every expectation and was swiftly moved from working in ally territory to that of those with nefarious intent. She would spend months or years, living under cover, establishing connections and digging up as much information as she could. Not once would her facade slip and never did she let anyone get too close. She would establish just enough friendships and lovers as was needed to keep any suspicion off of her; using many of them as scapegoats in the end.
...Until It Does
When Maenaki turned sixty, she went on a mission to the Zeltron homeworld, Zeltros, where she finally learned of her mother and her goals in life shifted drastically. While working to expose a high political figure, for using charity funds to fuel his expensive escort addiction, she found that he had been accused of the same thing prior. Only it was thirty years earlier, by a Zeltron, a Jedi Zeltron, named Mae'riia.
Once Upon A Bedtime Story
Maenaki's father rarely spoke about her mother. But when she was a small child, he would tell her stories of a beautiful, powerful and strong Zeltron. A woman who fought for peace and bled for the safety of others. She was a guardian, a protector, and a mediator. Each one was of truth, justice and honor prevailing. But somewhere, deep down, Maenaki heard each yarn in a twisted manner. Truths of a mother who left a baby with nothing but a name and all because duty took precedence. Half of Mae took this as a reason to delve into work and education. The other half took it as an excuse to abandon others for her own causes without looking back.
Where My Loyalties Lay
Once the Seltron realized she knew the names in the files she was looking at, she did the only thing she could. She completed her job and she demanded a vacation. She spent the next eight years hunting down everything to do with her mother, finding out that she had had another child, Yolandi. Mae'riia was rumored to be dead and so Maenaki found her half-sister, living on Port Ol'val, in Brotherhood space. She originally intended to find the girl, extract whatever she knew and move forth, but what she knew required so much more. Yolandi suspected one of the people who controlled Ol'val was behind their mother's death, and the - at the time - Battleteam Leader was their access to more information. K'tana was less than forthcoming and her ability to trust Maenaki was limited. Due to that, Yolandi volunteered to help and from then remained with K'tana in the 27's. Soon the young teen was the Gate Wardeness' best friend and confidant. Behind their relationship, the Seltron was pulling the strings.
For half a year, Maenaki twisted Yolandi around like a ball of string, convincing her to get out as much information on the Brotherhood, Qel-Droma and Arcona as was possible. Then, when Yolandi had been warped and broken by Mae, K'tana had told her a story from her past, and it enraged the young woman. She had never felt so alone, so shattered and empty. The next day, the Twi'lek found her friend dead. Believing the fault rest on her shoulders, K'tana went to Maenaki in tears: Fragile. Manipulatable. Breakable.
Wearing Sheep's Clothing to Replace a Shepard
K'tana withdrew from the eyes of her superiors and her House as soon as she became Aedile. Many believed, even knew, she was not capable for the job. And she felt it. What was once a distant fear soon grew to be an overwhelming sense of shame. Something she had not felt in her twenty-three years. With Maenaki whispering in her ear, K'tana's paranoia became irrational and she refused all personal contact unless it was with the mysterious woman who was rumored to be sneaking in and out of the Phantom Complex, with the Aedile's help.
Mae spent the next several weeks honing her skills and K'tana taught her to use the skills that the Seltron had been blessed with. Although Maenaki learned to use the Force through autodidactic means, K'tana was the one who taught her how to use it by force of will instead of instinct. Once the newly coined Battlemaster had been educated about all things Arcona, the Twi'lek put her in touch with her old sources Inquisitorious. Soon after, K'tana disappeared, leaving only her lightsaber a few goodbye messages to those who meant most. Alongside them were recommendations, of a sort, for Maenaki, vouching that she was more suited to the role and to trust her. This was met with contention, but after nearly two months of working next to the Aedile, a modicum of trust was earned. Maenaki met with the Arconan Summit and was allowed to work as Aedile under vastly restrictive conditions.
Present Day
A majority of Maenaki's limitations have been lifted in order to allow her to complete her job, not only for the Shadow Clan but also for the Inquisitors. Her ties to the establishment are still unknown to the members of Arcona, as are her true intentions.
