- "I have been a mercenary, an assassin and a member of a crew aboard a sophisticated starship. We worked proactively, always with a goal in mind to ensure success and glory walked hand in hand. We weren’t concerned with the aftermath or the consequences and merely walked onto the next task. But who takes care of the fall out? Who clears up the blood and the bodies, the wreckage and detritus? Who makes the witnesses change their minds or disappear into thin air? Who scours the holonet for disparaging evidence that could be used against us? Who hides the space scrap within asteroid fields to ensure it will never be found? The answer is no one. At least until now."
- ―Mks Ehn - Battleteam Leader of Operation Styx.
Motto
“Unseen, Unheard, Unknown”
Purpose
The charge of Operation Styx is to conceal Arcona’s presence within the Dajorra System and ensure their actions remain shrouded in secrecy. Utilising a lightning-fast response, Styx erases any objectionable part that House Qel-Droma, or the Clan itself, plays in its many operations.
Associates and Rivals
Cecilia Morningstar
Race: Zeltron
Codename: Charon
Profession: Tactical Consultant
Beautiful, intelligent and frighteningly capable, Cecilia works with what little information can be gleaned for a job - and at lightning pace. She develops the key strategies required to complete tasks in the fastest amount of time and guides the Operatives to success.
The Triplets
Race: Yaka
Codename: Hecate
Profession: Data Analysis
Three unique youths of the Yaka species, these three were tasked with monitoring every possible feed on board the Port, filtering and passing on any relevant information. They reside within a sphere made of screens that allows them to constantly check for any red flags worthy of the Battleteam's attention.
Common Activities and Methods of Operation
Force Exposure
The first step to revealing Arcona’s presence is the discovery of the Force. Once a lightsaber is drawn no one can predict the level of destruction to the environment and the same can much be said for the use of the Force. Styx remains vigilant to these tells and is quick to remove them.
Witness Management
A secret is held best between two people - even better if it’s just one. Dead men tell no tales, after all. Styx’ members do whatever is necessary to keep the information silenced, by persuasion or force (or indeed, the Force). This can take many possible forms. Sometimes, a witness may simply disappear. At others, they suddenly recant, their friends and families looming under threat until they change their mind. Yet other times, the Fixers resort to simple persuasion or even bribery - Styx has a keen appreciation of the persuasive power of cash.
Infiltration & Evidence Retrieval
Epaxial though it is, Arcona’s monumental status as a Clan has cracks in it. On occasion the Clan has been the subject of unwelcome attention and scrutiny, from law enforcement and criminal empires alike. Styx’s specialists are trained in infiltrating securely held locations and retrieving evidence that is damaging to the Clan - and planting evidence to direct the blame where it rightfully belongs: on Arcona’s enemies.
Crisis Concealment
The job of a Fixer is not glamourous. It requires a level of attention that goes above and beyond the usual level of awareness, but it is this awareness that makes them key. A crisis can occur at any moment and it is in that moment that a Styx operative’s alacrity is truly challenged. An operative must attempt to conceal anything remotely related to the Force or Arcona itself; however this is often with limited means. It is more often the case that an operative will instead require the use of subterfuge, allying themselves with whatever agency falls upon the event itself in order to manipulate the conclusions. Their job is to then guide the investigation - by means of law enforcement or criminal gang alike - to remove any implication from themselves but also directing it towards their rivals.
Headquarters
The Broken Blade
Styx, befitting its nature as a group of outside specialists who can be called in on a moment’s notice, has a mobile base as its primary hub of operations: the former pirate ship Broken Blade. This ship is usually hidden deep within the Dajorra system’s asteroid field and is used for rapid deployment of the Fixers to any location they may need to visit. The team usually uses the ship’s shuttle complement to travel to and from Ol’val. When a base of operations is needed within the Shadowport itself, Styx often uses the existing facilities of Qel-Droma’s Phantom Complex. The various front businesses used by Shadow Gate infiltrators are rarely employed.
A young team, Styx has yet to establish a full base of its own on Ol’val. As some of its first objectives, the team aims to secure various Holds - should be small concealed locations capable of hiding Fixers and aiding them in the safe disposal of evidence.
The Basement
There is only one room beneath the cargo hold and it is aptly named the Basement. It is constantly shrouded in darkness and is completely off-limits to organic members, a rota of droids regularly visiting for maintenance and repairs.
It is here that a small team monitors their readings in plain sight of the Control Room, though few know what it is they exactly do. In general, the Triplets give specific alerts to any dangerous activity that could be dealt with by Styx and pass them onto the control room to brief active Operatives. They give the team an advantage that, used properly, can overcome most problems.
The Holds
The Holds are safe houses containing beneficial resources or terrain for Styx Operatives. The contents vary from emergency hideaways where agents find cover whilst waiting for hell to die down or caches containing useful tools, disguises and specialised weapons. These Holds are currently only in use on Port Ol’val, but as the Team builds its rapport within the Galaxy, they are expected to spread to the four corners of the Galaxy.
Equipment
Mostly, an Operative will rely on the well-armed caches of the DIA, though there are a few custom models optional to Styx Operatives specifically.
Drift
Deep grey in colour, this cloak helps the wearer to disguise the general shape of their body. It can change length at the owner’s discretion and is able to maintain basic shapes to mimic different body types. The material is a matt weave of a memory-stretch fabric, light enough to be worn with ease and take up little space when stored away, but substantial enough to keep out harsh chills.
MG-Tape
Operatives are required to use a small communications device behind the ear when out in the field. About the size of a thumb print, this thin, transparent device is attached behind the ear and feeds sound waves directly to the ear drum while simultaneously turning the ear into a microphone. Holding a battery-life of only a few hours, the device can be easily disposed of to avoid the Operatives detection from a pinpoint scanner or the senses of a Force sensitive.
