The Fourth Great Jedi War (also known as the Hunt for the Skin of Fire or the Quest) as an event that took place during 17 ABY. Following the breakdown of the Star Chamber during Archibald Zoraan's reign the new Grand Master, Chi-Long, sent the Clans on a quest to locate the Skin of Fire, an ancient artifact rumoured to possess great power.
History
Grand Master Chi-Long came to the Iron Throne during troubled times. Archibald Zoraan's actions had broken the Star Chamber and it was in need of rebuilding. Into the vacuum stepped the Imperial leadership, attempting to force their control over the Dark Brotherhood, going so far as to appoint several of their own officers directly to the Dark Council.
There was lingering dissent between the Clans from the unrest that had allowed Archibald Zoraan to seize power. In an effort to neutralise the situation, the new Dark Lord of the Sith leaked information pertaining to the Skin of Fire, an ancient artifact rumoured to possess immense power. Chi-Long believed the Skin of Fire would restore power to the Star Chamber. The Grand Master sent the Clans on a quest to recover it.
While the Clans were away searching for the artifact the Imperial Remnant continued its attempt to take the Star Chamber's place as the Overclan and seize control of the Dark Council. Though the Skin of Fire was recovered before Chi-Long could put his plans into action and restore the authority of the Star Chamber the Imperial leadership intervened and the Dark Lord of the Sith was forced into exile.
