Vodo Biask is a Krath Priest and Aedile of House Ektrosis of Taldryan and a former Sergeant of Phoenix Phyle.
Character History
Beginning
Vodo was raised in a poor house hold of Twi'lek slaves on Ryloth. The First slave master he had was a gentle man, concerned with the health of his captives. This led to his eventual bankruptcy. The man, whom Vodo has lost the name of, was forced to sell off all his slaves to many different owners. Vodo was torn from his family and sold to a tall human named Cullen. Cullen treated him horribly by forcing Vodo to work the Ithorian cotton fields with his bare hands, Ithor's violent sun burnt the young Twi'leks skin a dark brown, causing him to be looked down upon in circles of his own kind who prefer lighter, fare skinned people. When Vodo wouldn't preform to the man's standard, which was an impossible task, even for a able bodied Wookie, he'd beat the young boy.
Bad luck seems to follow Vodo's masters as this man too fell to bankruptcy and was forced to sell him. The next few men who bot him were cruel, and often resorted to vibro-whips to accomplish what words couldn't. Each one either died due to accidents or were murdered by other slaves.
By the time He was 23, Vodo was a tall and dark skinned Twi'lek. His muscles, very well toned from a life of labor seemed to accent his height quiet well. Having been fed exotic foods from the worlds he'd lived on, Vodo had grown taller than most Twi'leks do at the height of 6'1".
The last owner Vodo had was a Corellian by the name of Jain. He was by far the cruelest of all whom Vodo had served. This man continually beat vodo with a vibro-whip and blunt objects just because he was an alien, and sub-human. With each hit the man gave him, Vodo could feel a well of rage building in him, ready to explode.
One day, when vodo was working on the Jain's Air Speeder, a cloaked figure strode into the "Barn" where vodo was hard at work. He took off his hood and revealed a scarred face to the Twi'lek. At first, Vodo met the man with fear, but was calmed by the man's charm (Force powers). After a short conversation, the man, now known as Leto, Vodo convinced him to kill his slave master in exchange for freedom and a new life full of power.
That night, during the daily beating, vodo hid a piece of metal under his cloak. It was a short piece of scrap Ship armor with incredibly sharp edges. The well inside vodo erupted with a burst of Dark Side power, causing the Corellian to fly out a window and land on the hard, dirt packed ground a story below. Recovering himself, his eyes now red, having turned that from the brown they were, walked down to the lower level of the building and out the door to where Jain was getting off the ground. Rage was on his face as he charged the Twi'lek.
Vodo was not thinking, but grabbed Jian's outstretched arm and flung him to the ground. Standing over the man, he uncovered the metal 'dagger' and sliced open Jian's throat, watching him bleed to death. With it finished, Vodo walked to the place Leto said he'd meet him. There was a small Corellian personal transport, powered up and waiting to take off. It was Jian's, and Leto stood in the lowed access hatch beckoning him to come.
Vodo left with the man and discovered the dark side along with the Dark Brotherhood.
Since Joining
Since joining the Brotherhood, Vodo joined the Obelisk Order, admiring their philosophy in waging total war, and martial combat, but found soon after that the Order did not suit him. Convinced by then Krath Primarch Kir Taldrya Katarn, the Consul of Taldryan, Vodo's Home, Vodo Biask changed his Order to the Krath. Along with his Order change, the Brotherhood transferred Vodo to House Ektrosis, still a Krath House in those days. Vodo began to delve into the Libraries on Taruma and Khar Shan. Here, he learned many things about the Dark Side of the Force, and the history of the Sith Cults.
Another interest of his was furthering his studies, having never had the chance to learn in his life as a slave. Vodo soon passed a couple of the Shadow Academy classes offered, and went on to learn a few more. About a year into his time at the Brotherhood, Vodo felt sufficiently freed of his life of a slave, and felt the need to search for his brothers and sisters. The Twi'lek left the Brotherhood, with the promise of returning once he had located his siblings.
The Brotherhood transferred Vodo to the ranks of the Rogue Dark Jedi, where his name stayed until he returned later that year to reclaim a place in Taldryan and Ektrosis. Vodo was disappointed having not located a single brother or sister in his travels. He recommitted himself to his studies, and advancement, soon achieving Guardian, and then Jedi Hunter. Vodo still kept to himself, withdrawn from those around him mainly due to the attitude he had maintained as a slave to survive. Vodo soon found himself, however, warming up to those around him, and spending more time in the open, away from the books. In this time, he learned to use his training light saber effectively, and went on to plan learning the Form III, Soresu.
Two years into his training, Consul Duga Taldrya Arkarso granted the right to search out the pieces of his light saber, and so earn the rank of Dark Jedi Knight. Before he could do so however, War broke out among the Clans, beginning the Brotherhood Civil War. After the fighting had ceased, and the Two Jacs' reunited, Vodo went on to collect his saber pieces, constructed it, and activated it for the first time in front of his Consul. Duga bowed his head and so granted Vodo the rank of Knight.
Vodo swiftly mastered Soresu, and in his spare time, began learning the Form II, Makashi.
Since achieving Knight, Vodo was an active force within his Battleteam, an element of his House Duties he had previously all but neglected. By the Side of then Tetrarch Hel-Pa Sklib, Vodo faced many challenges, from a stolen Shadow Academy Book, to infiltrating a Rogue Imperial Admiral's planetary Fortress. Along with several Clan mates, Vodo has tracked down and fought a renegade Sith Lord, aiding in the eventual light saber duel and subsequent death of the Lord.
Vodo was such a valuable asset to Hex Battle Team, that the recently promoted Aedile, and then Quaestor of House Dinaari, Hel-Pa Sklib, recommended Vodo to the Ektrosis Summit for the job of Sergeant of Phoenix Phyle. He took the job happily, leaving his post in Hex, the only Battle Team he'd ever known, and took command of Phoenix. Phoenix was viewed by the clan as a whole as a cess pit of renegade Dark Jedi who took to orders with disdain. In fact, by the time Vodo delivered his first report, it had been a year since the previous Sergeant had sent his own in. In a few short months, Vodo managed to bring the team into action, motivate them, and created a powerhouse of activity with the help of KE Bubbles Taldrya, whom Vodo came to regard as a great Dark Jedi.
The Ektrosian Summit was first struck by the loss of Chaosrain as Consul, who was promoted to Clan Proconsul, and then the news that Aedile Menace had quit. This left the House without a defined structure. Dinaari Quaestor, Hel-Pa Sklib left his job to return to his original house to take over, and appointed Vodo his Aedile.
Great Jedi War 7: Incursion
Directly after the Award Ceremony of the Right of Supremacy, the forces of the Brotherhood were engaged by an Extra-Galactic alien race called the Yuuzhan Vong. The alien fleet smashed into the Brotherhood's combined forces with glowing success. During the engagement, Vodo was present on the VEN Katarn's bridge, directing fleet maneuvers, and fighter placements. His orders during the battle ensured a small number of casualties in this first fight in relation to the other clans. When the order was given to retreat into the Shroud, Vodo went to the Katarn's hangar deck where he helped treat the wounded.
After two days of healing, and killing where necessary, Vodo answered the summons of GM Jac Cotelin to study a captured alien fighter craft. The craft was opened, and the occupant, thought to be dead, removed, Vodo entered the craft and donned the hood-like apparatus which enabled him to activate the fighter. Later, when engaged by a pursuing enemy fleet, he took the fighter into combat, with little success, and returned to the Dark Seraphim in order to fight off a boarding party.
After the melee aboard the Modified Dreadnaught, Vodo collapsed from extreme exhaustion, and was unable to participate in the affairs above Antei.
After the Great Jedi War
Vodo was able to recover in the time after the Clan's departed for their home worlds, and as he recovered, he was delighted to hear that his exploits had won him the rank of Priest, and a place in the Equites. The blessings of both his Quaestor and his Consul had elevated him to this rank, and with their leave, requested his new robes a new model light saber, replacing the one he contructed himself, and had seen so much combat with.
DJB Facts
Vodo joined the Brotherhood three years ago, and has since been an integral part of the Taldryan and Ektrosian memberships. While not an active online gamer, Vodo chooses to flourish in Run-on and fiction contests. Vodo prides himself on his accomplishments, such as close to thirty Shadow Academy courses completed and passed, over twenty awards, and relationships with some of the older members of the organization.
Activities
Vodo spends his time on Khar Shan for the most part when he is not engaged in Clan, House, or Battle Team excersizes. Here, he delves into the Shadow Academy records and shelves of knowledge, as well as teaching a communication course for which he earns the title of Eclectic Pedagogue. Vodo is very proud of his knowledge, and is often approached for advice on historical matters, technical skills, and arcane spells that can only be used after great preparation. Though sometimes viewed as an encyclopedia, Vodo is actually a very well rounded individual who excells in saber combat, split second thought processes, and social activities.
When not on Khar Shan, Vodo can be found on Taruma in the Ektrosian Library or Training halls, honing his mind and body to perfection. Vodo is now occupied by his job as the Aedile of a Clan House, and takes his duties seriously.
Skills
Though Vodo is only a Dark Jedi Knight, a Journeyman by any other name, he has beheld tomes of knowledge rarely viewed by anyone other than Elders of the Dark Side who wish to look a specific ritual. He gains these tomes through fostering friendly relationships with those who administer the places of safekeeping for the records and books. Because of this knowledge, Vodo has preformed several complicated spells, and feats of Force Mastery that few would think possible for such a low ranking Dark Knight. While having completed these, they have worn heavy on him, and take time to prepare, weeks of heavy mental preparation in all accuality.
In all norms for a Dark Jedi of his rank, Vodo excels, perfectly capable of preforming feats of telekinesis and mental manipulation easily. He can also augment his own physical prowess using the force to the extent any other priest can.
Light saber
Vodo utilizes the Antidote Model Hilt from the Herald's Office with a violet blade. The silver metal hilt is touched by highlights of purple, all signifying an undying alliegance Vodo shares with the Krath caste. Vodo, while perfectly capable of using his saber, and engaging in combat, chose Form III Soresu as his primary focus of training with his blade. In a very short time, Vodo achieved a mastery of the form, and attempts to teach those around him the form as well, mostly to little avail.
Though no longer usable, his first Light Saber, the one he built to attain his Knighthood, of the Redeemer Hilt Style, remains on a dais in his quarter's on Taruma. The crystal was removed to be placed in his new model having achieved the rank of Priest.
Vodo uses his light saber most often when in combat with his Battleteam, Phoenix, and most often next to the side of his good friend Hel-Pa Sklib, Quaestor of House Dinaari. Hel-Pa has focused his training heavily on the venerable Form I Shii-Cho form, and quickly mastered it. The two friends have found that their two focus' of light saber Training compliment each other well. In combat, Hel-Pa taking the aggressive offensive role, and Vodo taking up the Defense for the both of them.
