| Unlike the common stereotype of Dark Jedi, Kor VanTil does not see the Dark Side as necessarily evil or himself as evil. He tries to be a noble being with a passion for truth and justice. He sees the "dark" side as simply a more passionate and personal connection to the Force, whereas the "light" side is rather emotionless and impersonal. | | Unlike the common stereotype of Dark Jedi, Kor VanTil does not see the Dark Side as necessarily evil or himself as evil. Kor VanTil is a 21 year old male Arkanian from the Kuat system. He is currently serving as the Battle Leader of the Blades of Kun. This battle team is attached to the House of Exar Kun in Clan Plagueis.
Pre-DB Life
Kor VanTil was raised on the planet of Kuat. Born to a middle class Imperial family, his father always taught him to distrust and rebel against those once called rebels: the New Republic. As Kor made his way through school, his out of mainstream views clashed with the powers that be more than once. However, there were plenty of Imperial holdovers still in high places on Kuat. Thus, Kor was spared from getting into too much trouble.
As he was attending college, Kor was faced with much confusion about his destiny. Should he inherit his father's transportation business, or go his own way in the galaxy? His escape from such confusion was a fellow classmate. He and she quickly fell in love and seemingly forgot about the galaxy around them.
Kor continued attending college and was working on a degree in metaphysics. In addition to his anti-New Republic articles, he also wrote paper after paper on the nonexistence of the Force. Believing such an idea was illogical, the young Arkanian concluded that the Force was nothing more than an illusion created by impressive magicians and used for the attaining of power.
However, he was not able to graduate due to the reasons below.
Fall to the Dark side
Here is an excerpt from Kor VanTil's dossier that details his personal fall to the dark side:
My destiny revealed itself before I could graduate. My love had been stalked home from school by one of the fanatical New Republic thugs who hated me and my influence at school. As she attempted to get into her apartment, he tried to force himself upon her...just to get to me. She fought him off, but not before receiving a beating from him in return.
When she called me, I was consumed by an anger I had never felt before. I wanted justice. However, upon contacting the local New Republic Magistrate, I was reminded that justice couldn't be found in the New Republic. The locals knew me. They knew the attacker. They chose their side and turned their eyes.
That's when I became justice. I rushed to the guy's place to find him nursing his wounds with the help of HIS girlfriend. When I confronted him on his actions, his girlfriend regurgitated a lie that he must have told her to in order to cover up the reasons for his scars.
My lust for justice had reached its limits and I lost control. The dark side consumed me. It was then that I became a believer in the Force.
Empowered by this new found force, I managed to add to his scars with a broken leg. With her lover disabled, the girl pulled a blaster on me. She clumsily fired a shot at my chest. Instinctively, I raised my hand to block the blast. I felt the sting, but upon looking at my bare hand...all I found was a small darkened scar. Somehow I had absorbed the blast, and the shock of such a feat allowed me to quickly disarm the female foe. Disoriented by the turn of events, I merely pumped one blast into the would be rapist's head and fled the scene. He had paid for his sins.
Shortly after tapping into this new power, Kor was discovered by DB agents and recruited accordingly.
DB career
Kor VanTil immediately began training and strove hard to advance. After a brief attachment to Clan Arcona, he transferred to Clan Plagueis in hopes of having his potential exploited to its full measure. At this time, he holds the rank of Guardian and leads the Blades of Kun as their Battle Leader.
He is also the Apprentice of Cipher K'oranian Isradia.
Personality and Beliefs
Unlike the common stereotype of Dark Jedi, Kor VanTil does not see the Dark Side as necessarily evil or himself as evil. He tries to be a noble being with a passion for truth and justice. He sees the "dark" side as simply a more passionate and personal connection to the Force, whereas the "light" side is rather emotionless and impersonal.
