Template:Infobox Military Unit
2nd Battalion, or 2/75, was a Special Operations light infantry battalion under the elite 75th Special Operations Regiment. Soldiers of 2nd Battalion were highly trained, motivated, and adept in the arts of Special Warfare. They were known for their incredible fortitude and adaptability that allowed them to conduct operations on any terrain under any conditions.
History
The 2nd was one of three battalions serving under the 75th Special Operations Regiment and the only one known to have served with the 13th Starborne Division. The battalion was activated in 27 ABY as part of the Dark Council's military reorganization following the Battle of Antei. 2/75 was cross-attached to the 4th Legion, 13th Starborne Division deployed with Task Force 64 of the Navy of the Iron Throne.
Organization
The 2nd Battalion was organized into four companies including a Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC), overseeing battalion administration, and three rifle companies. Within each rifle company were three line platoons and one headquarters platoon. Each line platoon consisted of three line squads and one weapons squad.
Squads were the key elements of the rifle company consisting normally of 9-10 soldiers. A rifle squad broke down into two fire teams of four individuals each guided by a Team Leader (TL) overseen by the Squad Leader (SL).
Weapons squad broke down into three gun teams of three individuals overseen by their Gun Team Leader under the Weapons Squad Leader (WSL) who was often the senior enlisted member of the platoon next to the Platoon Sergeant (PSG).
The companies all had similar capabilities, though were sometimes tasked with special responsibilities within the battalion. Each company was commanded by an officer at the rank of Captain (CO) and assisted by an Executive Officer (XO) and First Sergeant (1SG). Platoons were commanded by Platoon Leaders typically at the rank of Lieutenant assisted by a Platoon Sergeant at the rank of Sergeant First-Class.
The battalion itself was overseen by an Officer typically at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel assisted by an Executive Officer and Command Sergeant Major (CSM).
