“The Flesh is Weak, The Machine is Tempermental…”
- Ophelia Delacroix 37 ABY
Ophelia Delacroix is a member Mandalorian Death Watch currently working with Clan Naga Sadow and currently serving as House Marka Ragnos's Aedile. She is mad, covered with advanced cybernetic replacements, cold, brutal and efficient she gets the job done without a care for who or what gets in her way.
Character History
Early Life
Ophelia was born, as oddly most are, into what could only be described as hell. Raised on the planet of Mandalore she was raised to fight and win regardless of the outcome. Her family followed a strict mindset which often led them into trouble with their neighbours but they stuck to their traditions and their ideals. Life grew increasingly more difficult for Ophelia as a child, being unable to make friends due to the reputation of her close ones, it got the point that in her early school years she was expelled for nearly beating a classmate to death with a chair.
Hatred boiled within her at such a young age given how she was raised on stories of the old wars, the old ways their people did things and as she looked over what they had become she would feel her heart drop a little. She cared little for those that could not fight, would not fight and only wanted to settle down. Ophelia agreed fervently with the ideals of her parents and after one more serious issue that she still claims was started by the other child they left and moved in with Ophelia's uncle.
Her uncle was just as firm a believer in the old ways than her father and mother were, there were even whispers he was a member of the Death Watch but nothing had even been proven. It however didn;t take long for the rumours to come to light in their own way as her elders drank around the fire. Apparently at one point they had all served alongside the Death Watch and would do so again in a heartbeat but had decided to blend back in with society once they discovered Ophelia was to be born. As she stumbled against the door where she had been spying they dragged her into the room by the scruff of the neck and looked her up and down. At the age of thirteen, she had begun to mature early, one of the reasons for her vicious beating of her last classmate. Old enough to fight, enough to die for the right cause in their eyes.
So as it was, and long overdue the family departed Mandalore and using the grapevine they managed to find survivors of the Old Death Watch and join up. Ophelia was fitted with her own set of combat armour and as she walked into her new living quarters she truly took in the beauty of her family as they were adorned in their arms and armour, they looked like the true warriors of old she had heard so much about.
Death Watch
Her training was tough, rigorous and thrilling. She was able to do things she never knew she could and was never browbeaten or told no simply because it didn’t seem the proper thing to do. She easily made friends with the other members of the Death Watch and though they were not truly as they once were they still partook in missions, raids and whatever else. Ophelia was generally kept back though they were not afraid to get her stuck in when the need called for it. She was brutal, trained herself in different forms of combat and earned her first kill as they raided a True Mandalorian supply post. The thrill of the hunt was upon her and she loved it. She aged well but soon began to realise things were not going as they planned.
The Death Watch was not what it once was and the issues began to arise some years later when the flow of new recruits began to subside and the members being list were not being replaced as often as needed or they would have liked. In fact, their numbers were dwindling so low they had to drop their raids and move onto working merc contracts in the shadows. It was during one of these missions Ophelia's parents were killed off, and not long later her uncle was killed by members of the True Mandalorians. The fight never left her and she was determined to die in a rain of death like her parents had but things took another turn when a raid upon their ship left most of the crew dead or injured. Nothing remained for her so begrudgingly she departed, swearing to return when the time was right.
Nar Shaddaa
She arrived on Nar Shaddaa became an enforcer for a local gang and used her talents to assist them in doing what needed to be done. She progressed quickly in the gang and when the leader was slain soon found herself in charge, most likely due to the fact the majority of the other gang members were terrified of her reputation as a Mandalorian. She enjoyed it, the thrill of it. She enjoyed having other people’s lives in her hands and being able to toy with them. She realised she had something she had never truly had before and that was control.
The gang became ruthless and soon she found herself adorning her armour again and stalking the dark bringing death to her enemies. Rumours began to circulate of a Mandalorian stalking the underworld bringing death to the undesirables, it caused fear and she soon found she enjoyed that too.
It all went downhill however when her a bounty hunter arrived to take her in for her crimes. As they faced off and turned her gang's headquarters into a charnel house she took a blow to the shoulder and went down and was sure it was her end when she heard a groan of pain and something hit the floor. As she looked back up a masked woman approached her, red sabre in her hand and the body of Ophelia’s opponent slumped upon the ground.
She introduced herself as a member of an organisation known as The One Sith and they were recruiting those with the potential to bring about a new age. One of power where those at the top ruled those who had nothing…something Ophelia was very used to being these days. She agreed easily and only stopping to liberate her opponents weapons followed the woman into a brighter future.
One Sith Era
She trained under her new masters learning not just how to bolster her own combat skills with a range of new weapons but also how to combat force users and how to effectively take down those that stood against her. Her reputation grew enough that she was once challenged by a Sith who saw himself above her, they fought in front of a crowd of onlookers and the fight ended when Ophelia's whip wrapped itself around his neck and she moved in, pressing the barrel of her slugthrower to his head and pulled the trigger. As his brain matter flew out in every direction there was a stunned silence from her unit and then she was approached by the Sith's master. She was sure she about to be killed for her actions but instead she was elevated, and in honour of her skill she was marked with the markings of the One Sith.
Her downfall came on the planet Bosthirda, Xlopora City where she came upon the tents of a madman. Slaves were suspended in cages or being dissected on tables and as she approached she saw the Arconan sorcerer with the white hair look up and over his shoulder. He turned and chuckled before hurling lightning at her, striking her in the chest and sending her tumbling. She charged in and a fierce battle commenced against the Arkanian which ultimately saw him fall but not before she stumbled, wounded, and fell into a table covered in liquids and acids. As the liquids began to eat away at her she screamed in agony until her throat ran dry and no sound escaped her, then the world went black.
She awoke some days later in a med lab. She attempted to sit up but found one of her arms and legs were missing, as well as apparently most of her left side. She tried to turn but found herself hooked to a serious of life support machines. She was damp and noticed to her right a bacta tank sat upright. Confused she tried to call out but found her voice had deserted her. Soon a man walked in and introduced himself as Montresor, the Dead Lord of Clan Plagueis one of the clans she had in fact been fighting in the wars. He explained they had no real love for the people she had killed but knew of her talents and if she was willing would enjoy having her on board. The other option was death which in truth she had no wish to experience it after the recent agony she had endured. She agreed and swore her oath and found when the words finally left her mouth she meant them.
Clan Plagueis Era
She was fitted then after with custom made cybernetics that enabled her to return to full functionality. She felt less than human but more akin to the monsters and droids she had worked with. Over time, she began altering them to her specifications and preference. They were covered in ancient scripts, clawed hand and foot and made them, even more, terrifying than they were truly meant to be. She refused to have them covered in flesh and instead wore hem proudly as a trophy of her conquest over death.
She was tasked to train new members of the Clan given her previous experience and took to it with great skill helping to form the Disciples of Dreypa and discovering someone that would for the first time in years bring a little flutter to her heart.
She worked her ass off and soon found herself the second in command of the Battleteam as Taranae took over. Content to be in the back, for now, Ophelia soon found herself going through some of the items from her past. She put out feelers into the galaxy and soon came upon some old contacts who still lived. So content the Battleteam was in good hands she left the Clan and went home for a while assisting her brethren, then she went her own way and began to explore the galaxy.
Along the way on her journeys she met Etah d’Tana and ended up joining his family, altering her name after a scuffle with old enemies on Nar Shaddaa, and with Etah's help putting them down. He being the only man beside the Dread Lord she trusted she soon found herself drawn to Clan Tarentum in hopes they would enable her to discover more knowledge of what she sought but knowing full well that one day she may have to return to her home and the one who waited.
The Return To Darkness
It didn’t take long for the Merc to begin to resent the ideals of her Clan. With a new set of leaders in place Ophelia began to notice the changes in attitudes and especially those towards the Non Force sensitives in the clan, being treated like second class citizens did nothing for her. The Mandalorian was about to give up hope when she came upon Kalon a protector of the Clans. As fate predicted they fought and though the younger Mandalorian was stronger than her she refused to relent until she was upon the floor, her wrist broken from a poor punch that connected with the armour of her opponent.
They spoke for some time about what it means to be a Mandalorian, how Ophelia was nothing in the eyes of the Clans having been raised by the Death Watch and how Kalon was prepared to train her to enable her to become more than she once was. She refused at first but slowly gave into the idea of being something given her fears of being soulless overcame her refusal to work with someone who was supposed to be her sworn enemy.
The training proceeded well enough but something was still missing, something felt wrong in the back of her head and at times she slept visions would invade her mind. Things that didn't make sense, sensations she knew she felt before. It accumulated one day when she awoke and items were strewn around her room as if someone had ransacked it, slightly spooked the Mandalorian moved to find out what had occurred and found the Clan on the brink of a new mission. She accepted the call though still disturbed by the things that had begun occurring and the words of Kalon she couldn't quite focus on her task.
It was during her travel from the Ascendancy to the Benzayn when it happened. Her mind simply escaped and images, words, noises entered from nowhere. Her Tuk’ata raised themselves and snarled, poised to strike at the woman as she crumpled to the floor and nightmares flooded her head.
The course change was automatic when she recovered, something somewhere called to her and abandoning the Clan she had called home before she set out into deep space and there, there she found them. Remains of the One Sith Forces. She wasn't challenged as she passed into the crumpled flotilla that made up their remains of their space worth forces, in fact she was given the location to Land as soon as she came into range. Curious she followed the designated path and soon found herself face to face with one of the remaining One Sith lords, someone who claimed to be her handler and the time for fun and games was over.
She explained to Ophelia that she had altered her memories and the time for the truth was now. She was re-indoctrinated into the One Sith ideology. She was remade as a weapon and soon she was unleashed. The Death Watch Mandalorian had found her true calling again, death to the Jedi and the destruction of all those that opposed the One Sith.
So she returned to Brotherhood space and was immediately captured by agents of the Inquisition working out of Clan Naga Sadow space. They had watched her and tracked her and unsure of her intentions had decided to help her realise exactly where her loyalties lay. She was broken and remade by the Inquisition and was tasked with hunting down any and all undesirables. Something she did not have a problem with.
She rose quickly through the ranks of Naga Sadow, obtaining the position of Aedile after striking a deal with a Wookie who wanted his honour back. She provided a means to an end and he took it leaving the spot open for the Mandalorian. It helped she was able to keep an eye on the rabble rousing Twi’lek who worked above her...but admittedly she admired the girl and after a time became to see her as someone she needed to protect. Her ideals of Undesirables changed but not enough she would stay her weapons if one had to die. She was just doing her duty after all.
However she would fight for her friends...regardless if they were Undesirable. Oh the issues she was to face.
Characteristics
Appearance
A Lithe figure, beautiful eyes and a way of walking that says you are mine. Flowing black hair that covers her back and shoulders and a smile that says kiss me, I will bite. She uses these traits and more to get what she wants, however, the issues with her body often leave her cold and uncaring about much of anything.
Due to what can only be described as an ‘accident’ the entire left side of Ophelia, leg, arm, side, and parts of her face have been replaced by cybernetic replacements. Going by her nature she has decided to not cover them with synthflesh, in fact, the simple fact she can see the replacements daily drives her anger and contempt and heighten her position within the Brotherhood. The cybernetics are custom made for Ophelia; Ancient script flows across the parts and the hand and foot both end in crafted five claws instead of normal fingers and toes.
Her dress style is whatever she sees fit. She happily wears anything that will show off her cybernetics as she is well aware of the fearsome close-minded mongrels have for those who have undergone cybernetic surgery, be it purposely or not. Though as it stands her current Brotherhood attire is a modified version of the Inquisitorius armour, as well as her Mandalorian armour that has been customised heavily.
Fighting Style
A whirlwind of chaotic energy that flows across the battlefield taking pot shots at you, setting you on fire and if you are lucky blowing you the hell up with her missiles. A True Mandalorian warrior, a Raider, a reaver a pirate and a destroyer. Ophelia has molded herself into a weapon over the years. She gives no quarter and expects none in return. She's been trained to fight Jedi and has no fear when she moves into assault them. A lightsaber to her is only as good as it's user and especially if they cannot reach her with it. She stays on the move using her athletic skills to effortlessly glide across the battlefield. She's a walking armoury and has literally no concern for her opponents welfare or the welfare of anything around her.
Personality
Ophelia is a bitch. She doesn't even mean to be a bitch but some things she does just come across a little antagonistic regardless of her intentions. She’s a straight shooter, no manipulation, subterfuge skills. If she wants something she will take it by force and not give a damn who's in her way. She will shoot first and ask questions later, ensuring she always has the upper hand as she moves across the battlefield taking shots at whoever gets in her way. Though she’s a bitch, she also comes across a little mad. Think Harley Quinn, in Mando armour. She’s playful in a sense she will tease toy and literally do everything just to get a reaction before destroying you.
Oh she loves fire and well watching you burn is such a thrill to her. Things that go BOOM! send just a little shiver down her spine, and it's just lucky she has not one but two things that make people go BOOM!.
