Castle Tarentum is the current headquarters of House Mortis. Due to its location, it is hidden to the knowledge of the citizens of the Yridia system. Historically, the Castle has been the base of operations for the entire Clan and its summit, before several anti-Tarentum attacks made an immobile Clan Summit a worthy target to terrorists.
Description
The central location of Clan Tarentum is Castle Tarentum, a masterpiece of Imperial Engineering that showcases one of the greatest engineering feats known to modern times. The Castle itself has been built a great distance away from the settlements on Yridia II, and remains hidden from the knowledge of most. The Castle is built upon the surface of the planet under the ocean, in one of the more shallow areas, so that some of the top of the Castle is, in fact, above the ocean.
The Castle is both the central location of Tarentum and House Mortis. The Castle is a rather large complex, designed in the early days of House Tarentum by Master Zero, Maxamillian von Oberst and Erich von Reinthaler. The only known means of entry is through hangar bays for specially converted ships that are required for the underwater voyage to the Castle.
Some of the more peculiar designs of the castle include the triple landed dais. The uppermost landing is reserved exclusively for Grand Master Justinian Khyron or his representative to the House, usually Master Zero. The second landing houses the throne of the Quaestor, with the lower landing reserved for the rest of the summits and the Tarentae. Should the Sith King be in attendance, the seats are removed from the lower two landings, and instead the officers mark their spot by standing - after all, none have leave to be seated before their Liege.
The towers circle the main "keep" as well. The northern most tower is the domain of Master Zero. None are allowed entry without a specific invitation from Master Zero. The South-Eastern tower houses the private apartments and suites of the Summits, a refuge from the day to day cacaphony of requests, paperwork, and the like. The South-Western tower is closed off to all but the seniormost members of the House. Oberst maintains his apartments here, but so are the suites for Master Khyron, should he be in attendance. The three towers connect to the castle, and each other, by a set of access walkways encased in treated and shielded transparisteel. One can look out into the ocean's depths as you walk around. The lower walk lies on the ocean floor. The upper walk is called "The Death Walk" because the inky blackness of sea makes one feel like they are staring into the Death's Abyss.
