"They fear what they cannot see, but what if what they were seeing wasn’t really there either? Deception is such a beautiful art."

— Morrighan Ravenscroft 22 ABY

Born to deceive and deceive he has all his life, Morrighan is but one of many alias he goes by. A Unisexual name neither meaning him or her but as a whole. A changeling species and one gifted in the force and the beloved arts of stealth. A deadly combo in the hands of anyone, but a science project and a slave does strange things to any creature. Especially one who can be anyone….

Character History

Before the Brotherhood

Lao-Mon – Birth of the Trickster Prince

Morrighan began as all life in the universe does, he was born but to whom he cannot remember. He presumes a mother and father but he never asked, he just accepted and moved on. Born on Lao-Mon, like all his species he never truly existed as one thing. A shapeshifting race even from an early age he learned what was expected of his race, but unlike his kin he was not one to be shy and reclusive nor was he content with his lot in life. Though every Shi’ido is born with telepathy it was found Morrighan had far more control with what he could do with his. From moving small objects and to even hurting others if he pushed too hard the other children soon began to worry about this infant and in general he was kept away and isolated from others of his ilk.

His parents aware of what his gifts truly were did nothing to encourage him to progress them and at times warned him from even using them. Most Shi’ido knew the history of the Sith Lord Belia Darzu and the last thing they wanted was for any child of theirs to turn into that type of monster. They did however come to a decision they thought may benefit everyone and sent an offworld transmission to Coruscant hoping someone could help get their child in contact with the Jedi. However there were more ears in the Galaxy than just the Jedi and other forces were set in motion. Though being a reclusive people they had not heard what had befallen the Jedi or that the Empire was in control, or at least their tiny village had not.

They say the galaxy is full of dangers and that even the wrong word somewhere can lead to disaster. Poachers hoping for a quick credit intercepted the message meant for the Jedi and set in motion to aquire this rare creature for the highest bidder. Out one day Morrighan stumbled upon the poachers and there camp, the Poachers couldn’t believe there luck when the young Shi’ido tried to defend himself with what little force control he had. They quickly over powered him and stole him away from everything he knew, introducing him to a life not meant for him and a mockery to his true existance

He still cannot remember really what happened to his whilst he existed as a plaything. The poachers had known straight away what he was; they would have to if they were operating on Dathomir and seized their chance at a quick credit. Having no idea what the boy was capable off they poured enough knockout drugs into the poor boys system to keep him out cold for days. Fearing they may have killed their quarry they headed to the nearest Imperial research facility and handed him over, getting their money in return and not being seen again by the child for many years to come, but we’ll get to that later.
Now from that research centre he was shipped off to another facility, the hopes were to introduce him to the acolyte program and make him an Imperial Dark Side Adept. However he was deemed unsuitable due to his species innate abilities, he was prevented full acceptance into the program and was labelled for termination. He was saved from this fate by a team of Imperial Research Scientists who requested he be handed over to them to see if they could learn anything more about the Shi’ido and their incredible abilities..

His past was stripped from his along with his identity and he simply became project X43-25/73C, or X43 for short. His mind was brainwashed, his body pumped full of chemicals and he was put through rigorous training regimes every day. For what eluded his, but he just remembers the pain, the feeling of being present but unable to do anything or say anything and then long periods of darkness followed by more pain. All he truly knows for sure is that once the torment had ended he had skills and the use of the force he didn’t have before the darkness. A competent blade user now, the weapon complemented him and his shifting abilities. For what he was used for he could only guess; killings, political assassination or even infiltration so many possibilities each more fanciful then the next for he could after all be anyone. Even to this day he enjoys musing about what might have been.

There was one within the research complex who saw the young girl as more than just a tool for deployment a weapon of the times, a researcher who had cared for the boy since he arrived. He could see the hurt in his eyes every time he was tasked to do something beyond his control. Morrighan guessed, afterwards at least, that this man would be the closest thing in regards to a father he would ever have though such notions of family had long been abandoned and to this day still are. The day the project came to an end he was to be disposed of like any blunt tool, they had gotten from him what they needed and were to simply discard him like rubbish, however the researcher in charge not being able to carry out the orders after so many years arranged the only thing he could. The only thing he knew that could save his from termination was in fact worse than death itself. His mind was cleared and he was led back to his room, the injections came afterwards and for the second time he slipped into darkness.

Kessel – Rebirth

This time when he next awoke it was in darkness, the air stank of staleness, decay and the sweet tangible smell of spice. He knew whise he was yet had no idea how this was so; perhaps he had been hise before and yet had no recollection of such an event. Kessel meant only one thing in the grand scheme of things; death generally long before you were to be released, if you were ever to be released. Gangs ran the prison mines and the guards did little to stop it after all one slave amongst millions was never going to be missed after all once you had arrived on Kessel you generally didn’t leave. This was a fate Morrighan would not even wish upon his own enemies, the fact he would wish them dead meant little, for he was born free and below open skies amongst the great trees of Dathomir. Kessel was like a cage in more ways than one, the darkness of the mines sent his senses reeling and he began developing severe cases of claustrophobia, which to this day he still suffers from, he was a wild bird captured and caged for someone else’s delight the fact this was meant to be his salvation seemed like a cruel joke to his.

During his first year in the mines he was set upon more than once a day by his fellow inmates, yet the years of training he had undergone proved his to be his greatest asset. Though he remembered mentally nothing of what he learnt or had gone through, physically his body had not forgot and responded almost primarily to any attacks. He started to trust his instincts more, cruel child from Lao-Mon resurface seeping back into existence. He became almost the bogeyman to those around his; this wild shapeshifting creature with many faces, everywhere yet nowhere at once. He in theory could of taken himself to the top of one of the gangs if he so wished they feared him but he feared something more, the dark all around his and it was beginning to unhinge him.

It happened one day, an odd feeling he couldn't quite describe, it felt like someone had turned on a bulb in his head. A tiny spark of something reached out to him through the force, not inherently on purpose but it was there he could almost feel it like a pin prick stabbing at his over and over. Through means unknown to his his connection to the force had been dampened with drugs and mind manipulation so the fact he felt something in this hell hole took his by surprise. Perhaps the procedures performed were not permanent and designed to come back to his after time in order for his to have a chance of getting off Kessel, though he found that unlikely as no one ever left…did they?

The pinprick left as it had come an Morrighan’s hopes vanished as quick as it had come, hover it wasn't to stay away for long he felt it on numerous occasions over an extended time period, he attempted to ignore it but it felt like a calling to his personally. Something screaming his name tugging at his, telling his to follow the white rabbit through the rabbit hole to see where it leads and so one day he did. He stalked through the mine complex like a phantom bloodhound fixated on its prey, he phased past the guards using his biggest fear as a tool to accomplish his task, the darkness concealed him and he had found out via practice he could use the force at times to alter the light at certain points, but not for long so his pace never let up. As quickly as it had begun the feeling vanished, or so he thought. The feeling was just so strong now it consumed his mind and it ached, every corner took his breathe away in anticipation, after every corner disappointment began to creep over his as each one revealed nothing but more tunnels. He gave up around one such corner, he ached the darkness was getting to his and whatever played with his mind was nowhere to be seen so he slumped to the floor, head in hands and for the first time he could remember wept.

He came as if from nowhere, a swift kick to the leg brought his around to his senses and he almost leapt upon him to tear his flesh before he realised what had kicked his. To his he was beautiful; a light in the darkness, if such a thing could be said for one as him, and the source of that annoying buzz. Etah d’Tana had come.

The Dark Jedi Brotherhood Era

Apprenticeship

Morrighan's ambiguous form at times can be unnerving..

For the third time in his life Morrighan entered the darkness but this time it was by his own volition. The Brotherhood was everything he had ever desired and more; power to forge his own path, the skills to defend hisself against those before his and the knowledge of a lifetimes worth of Sith and Dark Jedi that had come before. Though he was not assigned to Etah d’Tana at first as his apprentice he learnt well under a wizened Sith warrior named Karahatus. He taught his the mysteries of the dark side and the beautiful ways he could manipulate the force and use it to his will be it to augment his natural abilities or bring pain and miasma to those he wihed hurt.

Throughout his early years as an apprentice potential he had locked away from his time within the Imperial labs became known to his, he found wielding blades and blasters in combat almost like a second nature an heavily favoured that style of combat. Through this fixation he began his study of the Hapan martial arts to better himself in its uses. He found the weapons to be an extension to himself the ability to bind his foes and then unleashed his force gifts upon them always amused his to some degree. However during his training an itch returned he couldn't scratch. Something felt wrong and he was unable to quite place his finger on it. He had everything he had ever wanted yet still felt incomplete.

He petitioned Karahatus’s advice and listened intently as he explained that what as holding his back from gaining true power was he was missing a part of himself, a part that had been denied from his at such a young age that his mind, after all it had been through, was still clinging to that moment of happiness from when he was a young girl. He knew what had to be done and with his master’s blessing left the Brotherhood and returned to Lao-Mon and from there onto Nar Shaddaa to adorn a new mantle.

Nar Shaddaa - The Trickster Prince

His time away from the Brotherhood was generally shrouded in mystery. He reconnected and was accepted again as one of them. For six years he trained alongside his sisters, learning in a short time what he should have learned in an entire lifetime alongside his kin. He tamed and rode beasts into combat and reconfirmed his tribal hisitage, rising to the rank of shaman’s apprentice whise he would stay until his departure from his kin.

His appearance changed again, though he kept his defensive modifications; nails, hair, teeth, he began to wear less formal robes and began dressing hisself in the tribal wear of his people. He felt whole, complete a void that needed to be filled within his had finally been done and his ability to control his powers grew and grew. Six years away and he finally felt whole, with promises he would return to his people at least once a year Morrighan left Dathomir and set course back to the Brotherhood.

The Return To The Brotherhood

His triumphant return to the Brotherhood was short lived as upon his return he found his old master to have been slain in combat leaving his alone and without a path to tread. He had been training under the clan shaman but to reach the peak of his performance he had to be taught by a proper student of the Dark Arts. Much to his surprise however he was put under the tutelage of Etah ‘Tana, the man who set his free from the darkness and would now lead him further into it.

Now returned and more powerful than ever and the darkness around his he strides into a dark new future.

DJB Facts

Characteristics

Physical Description

As like most of his race Morrighan is a everything and nothing at once. A shifter he is able to take on many guises from humanoid, non-humanoid, animal and beyond. He has not one true set definition of form but it's been so long since he visited his original one he fears he may have forgotten what he original looked like or even how to get back.

Morrighan's DJB Robes.

Out of the Brotherhood is a different matter, being part swooper he wears traditional gear to go with that line of work, however he has access to a wide assortment of clothes and costumes, uniforms and attires purely for the purpose of different guises. More often than not he an acquire what he needs on the job from a willing donor but he finds it best to always be prepared.

Personality

Unpredictable at times would hit Morrighan on the head when it comes to her personality, because everything he does he does it with no reasoning as to why he did it or even as to what he hoped to achieve. He could be quite content one minute eating his dinner and the next tearing a chunk our of some poor passer by just because they looked at him.

Despite this Morrighan is actually rather quiet, preferring to keep to himself at the best of times. His head buried in a tome or looking over a Holocron or on the training field, Though taken from Lao-Mon at an early age and subjected to all kinds of sick tests at the hands of Imperial researchers he came out still intact, it was the mines of Kessel that cracked him. Fierce, proud and with his love of free space an the wilds all caged animals in the dark break at some point after all and after all a shifter always has ways to survive.
